It was a bright day in the Pridelands as far as one yellow cub could tell, and he was in a good mood. Wahabu was going closer to Priderock than he usually did, and he was enjoying himself by being as stealthy as he could manage. His age, size and colors all worked against him for being sneaky, but that didn't matter to him. He'd had little success finding playmates, which was why he was both being careful and making a game for himself out of it.
Curious about who would wander by, Wahabu scrambled into a small patch of grass long enough for him to duck behind and settled in to watch. His tail swayed behind him and he kept his eyes and ears as alert as he could, but the longer he waited the less amusing it became. After a while of waiting, he was half asleep.

Padding through the grasses, the copper-hued lion had just returned from his first hunt of the day. Usually, he would sleep in and just be contented by Kami's form by his side, but now that her father had recently passed on, he was forced to spend his slumbers alone. His mind would always wonder, right back to the moments of the king's passing.
He failed to note the yellow cub to the side, passing right by with his deep thoughts and his small set frown. His mind, like many other Pridelanders, was well distracted with the issues of the day, the toll of the king's death darkening his mood.

Wahabu was blissfully unaware of the current situations going on, or he might well have stayed a respectful distance from Priderock. His eyes were half closed when a stranger passed through his field of vision, he might not have took much notice of the movement and had there not been a strange amount of fur surrounding the lion's head. The cub had not seen a lion with a full mane yet, only in his dreams- and he'd determined the lion in his dreams was a god, so had not thought more on the mane he carried.
His head lifted up and he blinked several times to get the blurriness out of his eyes. Then he took a good look at who had just walked by, staring at his head. Wahabu didn't get to see the frown, but the way he walked seemed to suggest that he wasn't in a very cheerful mood. He hesitated a moment to wonder if he should bother him or not, and then he leapt forward and jogged to catch up.
"Hey!" he called after him.

Ears perking, Ta'Ziyan faltered just slightly before turning his head. The sound had come from behind, and as his eyes quickly scanned the area, he only just caught the sight of the cub before his turn around. It was strange, seeing a cub so brightly colored, for the male knew that it was not a golden pelt. The cub seemed to gleam like the sunlight around them, the yellow almost blinding. Turning completly, he just settled on his haunces and forced a friendly smile on his maw.
"Hello there..." He murmered softly, his eyes softening as his smile grew. A few months prior, the lion might have just continued to walk, but now he was well aware of all the cubs, and just the thought of them made his mind wander to the future, "I see more cubs litter the lands these days, may I ask for your name?"
He continued it softly, an effort to stop the thoughts of his future with Kami, for he knew the princess didn't have such thoughts on her mind. And that made him quite guilty.

Wahabu came to a stop some feet behind the lion he was chasing when he turned around and smiled at him. It was good to see him smile, it meant he was friendly. Maybe it was only big males that were friendly, but then that left out mama and bibi. He shook his head and let the thoughts go.
"I'm Wahabu," he answered brightly, puffing up to try to look important, "You have a lot of fur on your head, what's your name?"

Watching as the cub moved closer still, Ta wondered dimly just how old the youth was, and if it was really wise for him to be alone in the current times. With a cub napping attempt already occuring, there was no telling what would happen next.
"I'm Ta'Ziyan Wahabu, and yes, I do have a lot of fur on my head...it always gets in the way. But soon enough you will have your own mane as well..." Grinning at that, he waved his hair as if to prove his point, and indeed it did. For as the mane shifted, it fell right back in place in front of his eyes once again.
"Wahabu, why are you on your own?"

"It's nice to meet you, Ta'Ziyan!" Wahabu exclaimed amicably, sitting down and curling his tail around his feet, "Really? Does everyone get a- a mane? You're the only one I've seen with all that fur, except in some dreams." He took a moment to squint and try to look at the top of his own head. The cub was unable to imagine his head being so fluffy. His chin was pointed up high as he continued his efforts to examine his own head when Ta asked why he was alone.
"Why?" he repeated, his eyes glancing towards the lion but his head staying tilted upward thoughtfully, "I don't know, no one likes to play with me." He had no idea that perhaps he should have a parent with him. His parents seemed to have no idea of it either.

Smiling still, the appearance unable to be wipped away, Ta just nodded to the questions and ignored the dream part of the statement. It was merly a small dream, and nothing more at least to his knowlage or assumptions. Plus, his father could always be on the younger side, which also was not rare these days.
"Well...these days aren't as safe as they were when I was a cub...if you are alone, you should keep close to major areas...like the watering hole or Pride Rock. If you can see a lion, you are safe...and as young as you are, you need to keep close to the adults..." Nodding grimly, he just lowered his eyes a moment.
"But..." He concluded, looking up, "You are with me, so at least you are safe now, no worries..." His smile right away returned.

"Not safe? Why not?" he questioned with very cub-like curiosity and confusion. As Ta explained that if you saw a lion, you were safe he had to wonder what was so unsafe about being alone. What was there in the empty grass that was dangerous?
Wahabu looked around curiously. Despite his questions, he took was Ta said seriously. His mind moves fast over what to do- maybe he'd have to ask Ta'Ziyan to take him back to his mother and father. But then, he'd almost fallen asleep out here and was safe- how could it change so fast? Now he was more confused by his own logic and unasked questions than he was by what Ta said. His expression displayed this perfectly.

He shifted, and wisly chose to ignore the question, just as any adult would. Looking to the side, he studied the area in which he was heading before turning back to the cub.
"Would you like to see Pride Rock? I was on my way back to my den, but I can always make a side-stop at the rocks and see the view. From all my travels, the rock holds one of the best sights in all of the lands..." Smiling like a small cub, he turned his soft copper eyes towards the said rock and let out a sigh. He was thinking about all the fun he had as a cub, and all of the views he saw with Kami by his side. He really was in love, he couldn't keep his mind off of the golden lioness in his life.

Wahabu was left to his confusion, and was smart enough to reccognize that it was done intentionally. A child's imagination can be worse than the truth, and he suddenly was quite keen on staying with the other lion. Maybe there were monsters or something out there that only came out when you were alone. He couldn't take that risk.
He blinked at Ta'Ziyan when he offered to take him up to see Pride Rock, and with such a distraction offered he nodded, "Ok! I'd like to see that." The cub was on his feet again and quickly stepping closer to the older lion.

Failing to notice the cub's actions, Ta'Ziyan just moved in the direction he was heading once before, his eyes trained on the rocks above. The place was like a beacon of hope, always attracting wanderers who needed peace and protection. In his life, it represented the home he never knew nor had.
"You can see everything," He started once more, "From the great rivers to the shadows of the graveyard, the sight from the rock is unimaginable. Have you been up there yet?" Asking that as an afterthought, the adult just grinned stupidly, surprised he didn't think of the question before.

Wahabu followed closely after Ta'Ziyan, he might recover from this initial fear later but for now he was keen on staying with someone else. He also had a great interest in seeing the Pridelands from the rocks, and was pleased to have someone willing to show him.
"There's rivers and a graveyard?" he asked dumbly, wondering how he'd missed such things in his explorations. Apparently he had not gone as far as he thought!
"No, I've never been up there," he continued, "I didn't want to bother anyone up there.."
