So yesterday I went to a band competition to see my soon to be school's band play. While I was there I noticed that out of 11 bands only 5 even had trombones. And to make matters worse the band that got 1st in Kingston's (my soon to be school) division was huge and didn't have ANY. are there any other endangered instruments out there??

Bari Sax...Bass Clerinet...uuuh....well...thats just for my division...I'm sure they're more...but...what scares me, is that there are bands with like...7 Contras or Suzaphones (spelling?) and like, no Trombones...
what comp. did you go to? I had one yesterday too.

We don't have any trombones this year. Three switched to baritone and one to tuba. Oddly, though, we have four french horns without having to switch any over from another instrument.

We have a ton of endangered instruments! cry
Our trombone section is slowly dying out. Last year we had an AWESOME trombone section (too bad the best person in it was the drum major). This year we have one too, though not quite as good or big. Too bad the best trombone next year is gonna be the drum major, too! AND there haven't been ANY new trombones in lower grades since my freshman year (I'm a junior now). crying
We had one bass clarinet when I was a freshman. Someone switched to Bass Clarinet when she graduated, but this year he's the drum major!
We had two Bari saxes last year, one graduated and one is graduating after this year. Luckily we have a new freshman this year. Poor lil' guy, gonna be all by himself...
French Horns are dying out. We've had a great horn section for the past few years (4-5 people >_>) but next year there are only gonna be 3 and it's not looking like we're getting new ones any time soon.
Alto Clarinets have always been dwindling in and out, and this year we have one but he can't play for crap.
All these instruments are going extinct, and y'know how many trumpets we have? TWENTY-TWO. rolleyes

I am one of the few non-senior french horns in our concert bands.
We are quickly becoming endangered at our school...

Hyo_Aoki Woah...i didn't even look at your poll before i posted...0_0; ...freaky... Who marches with French Horn? My school usually gets them to convert to Baritone...xD WHAT?!?!?! Omg! I don't wanna switch to baritone next year! DX I like my horn thanks! I'm going to be a freshman next year and take band, I really hope they let me play the flute instead of the baritone instead of the French Horn... gonk Also, in advanced band we have three flutes(I'm one), 1 alto sax(best sax player ever is now in high school this year), 2 clarinets(not bass), 3 trumpets and a trombone. And 2 on percussion... ^.^ In beginning band we have 2 French horn players(I'm one. x3), a baritone, 1 flute player, 1 alto sax, 1 trumpet, 1 guitarist(o.O), and 1 percussion. Hope that wasn't too confusing lol.

Bari Sax is a common indangered instrument modtly because of its size and stuff. Personally I'd play it, but one, I love my Alto and two... It's probably bigger than I am... XD
Trombones are dying out?! That would be horrible! In our band we have five trombones, but then again we're known for our low brass section. ^^
