“How can you not feel that?” a wistful smile chased her face.
“Feel what?” he asked perplexed.
“That intoxicating feeling...” she turned the music up and swayed gently to the rhythm. The streetlights played across her skin as they shown through the front window of the car. She rolled down her window and stuck her hand out to feel the wind whistle by at sixty miles per hour. He glanced over at her and found his eyes stay for a moment before returning to the road, she was so beautiful.
“I just feel so good. I’m taking in this great music in huge gulps and forgetting to breath, and then... when I do take a breath...even the air taste good here. I can hear the sea rushing up the coast and smell the salt water. I look back in the car and see you, at the wheel, and you look so content to be here, here with me. I love you a lot, you know that?” she slid closer to him, to wrap her arm around him and play with his hair, kissing him softly on the cheek. He turned to her, kissing her back on the lips.
“I love you too and I’ll always love you.” he said returning his eyes again to the road. He found it hard not to stare at her. She was beautiful and smart and in love with him. He never thought he’d be so lucky.
They were just driving home from a weekend on the coast. It had cost him a fortune, but he had got a lifetime of happiness in return. He has just proposed to her the night before and she had said yes. He had planned it all out, finding a cute little restaurant right on the beach. After dessert he had pulled the ring from his pocket and saw her eyes get huge.
Every moment after was a struggle not to scream his happiness to the world. As they sat in the car, music blaring, he rolled down his window too and screamed out to the wind. She laughed and then turned to her window to do the same. It was fun just to be there, acting like an idiot, knowing she didn’t care and would even act like an idiot with him. He pulled her back over to him and kissed the top of her head. She snuggled close to him and looked up at him with her adorable smile and bright green eyes. He couldn’t help smiling when he looked at her. He kissed her again on top of her nose. She laughed softly and bit her lip as it curled into a smile.
