Light reflects from the many facets of the journal. You almost have to look at it sideways to withstand the effect. Finally, you are close enough to see detail. What appeared to be facets is actually many broken mirror shards. They've been reconfigured to make up this interesting tome. It wouldn't be advisable to touch it, those ends look sharp!

1.25.07

Time has passed, and your Herald is becoming fond of you and beginning to show affection. You two have grown closer, but that's not the only aspect of growing.

The Herald is maturing into a young child before your eyes. No longer dying and weak and no longer sexless, it now has beautiful angel white hair and dark blue eyes of unusual depth. You may have noticed that the Herald has been scratching and touching its back for a while, and now it's finally explained. The herald's wings have started to grow in.

How do you deal with the child's discomfort? Do you have any remedies to ease it? How does he/she react? How do the wings reflect the item given?

The Teacher

Name: Florian D. Zarcaris
Meaning: "Most beautiful." This embarrasses him without end or mercy.
Goes by: Zarcaris, Mr. Zarcaris, Florian.
Gender: Male
Is a: Pessimist
Profession: High school Latin teacher
Race: Human
Age: 39
Personality: Despite years of advice and "help," Florian has never been entirely sure of himself. He is generally a very cautious, polite man; endlessly fascinated by people, culture and language but often too nervous to approach the crowds that play so heavily into all but the later. When he can, Florian thrives on praise and doing well, the man lives to gain the respect of others and lives in constant fear of messing things up for people, or upsetting them. He is a good man, but a good man with some serious self-esteem issues.
Physical appearance: Florian has never really been in touch with fashion, and if he cares, he's not in any position to do something about it. Typically, he wears a presentable, (if battered) blue or steel-gray jacket over one of those terrible sweaters very few people could be paid to take out of the store. Alternatively, he's a fan of ribbed turtlenecks. Beneath his eccentric garb Florian is an average-looking man of middling height, brown hair and brown eyes. His hair is somewhat neglected; though dutifully cleaned and kept, it is very rarely cut and has shelved off into the odd, long bangs guys get if they both have a widow's peak and are too lazy to cut their hair. In contrast to his hair, Florian is fastidiously clean-shaven in a desperate effort to stave off the "Oxford professor" look. This attempt is further foiled by the fact that Florian wears glasses, though he's stumbling through the process of trying out contacts.

Home: The Zarcaris household is a middle-class apartment, two bedroom, one bathroom, and one joint kitchen-living area. Due to the price of electricity it is not particularly well lit after sunset, and is often near-silent for a desperate lack of houseguests. The white-wash walls are hidden behind an endless set of full, heavy-set bookcases and the occasional yellowing family portrait. Inside, the tomes contain fantasies and books of ancient history; most set far before technology evolved beyond sword and shield. ...It's the sort of collection that might send one looking for DnD dice.
To complement the heavy bookcases the room is well furnished: a single, worked-in recliner, several thick rugs, a (broken) television, and a few tall plants. Roman memorabilia and old board games peek out of the scholarly clutter, and a huge desk stacked high with papers stands sentinel in the only in-use bedroom. The other is currently equivalent to anyone else's' attic, and is utterly lost to civilization.

Zarcaris' apartment lies at the edge of a poorer neighborhood, but he has yet to witness any violence or other problems caused by that.
