I feel like such an awful person, but maybe I just haven't experienced enough of Wicked. I, personally, don't see what all the rave is about. I mean, the story seems good - but not extraordinary. And the music of it that I have heard (I haven't heard all of it) isn't that great.
My bestest is into Wicked, though. She's always hooting about it.

Mm, that would totally change things, hrm? I try to keep an open mind about it, because I'd still like to see it live. It seems like a very detailed setting.

I fell in love with Wicked and then freaked out when I heard Deena was in Rent, so it will always have a special place in my heart <3
I like it a lot, especially the big group numbers, like No One Mourns The Wicked and Thank Goodness, and the Deena-belting songs, like The Wizard And I and Defying Gravity

i sang defying gravity for a recital when i was in 5th grade, and now, even though it was a few years ago, whenever this kid sees me, he sings defying gravity. badly. so i made a deal with him. if i sing defying gravity for the variety show, he shuts up. but now im really nervous... defying gravity is a big number...

Ooh, so you got the grimmerie, Lil_Red. I liked how they included most of the libretto.

Lady Adelaide the grimmerie is so cool! i love the way it looks... it has a special place on my shelf next to my rent bible. Haha. It does for me as well, theoretically. Except that my RENT bible doesn't fit onto any of my shelves =P So my Grimmerie and Avenue Q book are on the shelf, and RENT is on my desk. Grr.
I do wish the Grimmerie had included the entire libretto, though, as advertised.
Ok, Wicked. Wicked was also the thing that brought me into the world of professional theatre, and RENT, although I didn't realize Idina was in RENT until a few days of listening to the OBCR.
Wicked is my favourite Broadway show, and in all honesty, I can't really defend it. Do I think it's the "best" show? Absolutely not. And I can definately see why people don't care for it. But I love it. I love it's scale and it's story, it's characters, and it's heart. I think the heart is the biggest part, for me, although Elphaba, as a character stands out as well. It's not a deep, thought-provoking musical; but musical's don't have to be deep and thought-provoking to be entertaining and touching. They didn't begin that way. Wicked has something to connect to everyone of us, and it pulls that.
As I said, I can't really explain it. To me, it's just a lovely show, and it makes me feel better than any other show I have loved. I'm psyched to see it again =) Ah, how I love Christmas gifts...

I love Wicked so much. I've pretty much worn out my cd and my Grimmerie is looking a bit tattered from me reading it so much. I can't wait to actually see it (January 31st!!!!)

So if you care to find me, look to the Western sky... I love Wicked! biggrin I really wanna see it! But I doubt that will ever happen. crying But I've read it, and I'm almost done with Son of A Witch. I can't wait for A Cowardly War to come out. It's the third in the Oz series. As someone told me lately, everyone deserves a chance to fly
