Umo sat in the cool shade of a tree, not far out from the swamplands. His dark toes were curled in the warmth of the day; wrapped around his muzzle as he slept securely on the dry ground. Out here, away from the wetlands of the swamps, he could rest and not worry about his nose getting wet. Here, he could sleep and not hear the still water lapping at the mosses; though he enjoyed it. He knew that fuzzy little creature was nestles somewhere in his thick mane. That little pale thing. That Ripuka. He was still getting used too his presence. Ever since that thing could walk he began following him and now had a place in his mane. He hoped the little critters mother didn't mind. He did however, hope this critters way of talking would change soon. It was almost unbearable.
Umo nestled himself deeper into his toes, thinking back; for once, on his old pride and how miserable it had been. How nice it was here at the swamps and over at the Kusini Mwenzi, thou he hadn't been there much since Kina was born. He also hoped Asi did not mind, not that Umo was so important there. He blinked his crimson eyes, nestling deeper into his feet. That little thing was asleep on his back. He could feel him.
Ripukas tiny black nose wiggled pleasently in his dreams. He knew he was on Umos back and he liked Umo. Umo was nice. Umo was snuggly and big and funny and nice. And good. Really good. He liked him. Stretching his tiny paws, he yawned and nestled deeper into Umos mane. It was nice there.

Having tired of lazing about the Graveyard, Sauda had wasted no time in extracting herself from the pile of bones she'd used as a bed the night before and trotting swiftly out of the graveyard itself. She didn't have anything against the place, but lately it had seemed more depressing than usual, and she just wasn't in the mood for the place at the moment.
And so here she was, letting her paws make the decision as to where to go, for the moment. She hadn't been walking for very long when her nose twitched slightly and she slowed her pace to that of a walk. She definitely smelled something, and after seating herself carefully and raising her nose to the light breeze that traveled through the grass, she realized just what she was smelling.
A lion. Definitely male. And he wasn't alone.
As she continued to test the breeze, she started to ponder the possibilities. She certainly didn't think there was a second lion. The second scent was definitely not lion.. but what? It took her little time to realize that she wasn't going to find any answers if she just stayed where she was, and so she slowly rose to her feet and resumed her pace, though much slower than before.((We'll draw it out a bit, and I'm sorry it took so long to reply. We had to go look at a house today and it was raining most of the day besides. That kills satellite! lol ))

Umo moved a slight bit uncomfortably, his back legs stretching out behind him in his effort to get compy. He nuzzzled his head deeper into his paws, licking his chops. In the sunlight, his coat shimmered wonderfully though he could not get to asleep. He mumbled somethiung incoherient.
Ripuka lifted his head at hearing his favorite buddy speak something. His little pale ears perked and his head popped up from in Umo's mane.
"Puutawna?" He asked. His words the the equivalent of 'What sup Umo?'. He scurried out of Umo's mane and onto his back; stretching with his tiny toes moving in a kneading fasion. Sitting up, his lips smacked much in the way of Umo's had, as he blinked into the light and gazed around. He sniffed the air, scenting something funny but he didn't really think it was important. Scurrying up and down Umos back; much to Umo's dismay.
Umo twitched when his little pale friend proceeded to pad up and down his spine. He lifted his head; looking back to the Genet with a smirk. "I am trying to sleep Ripuka. Are you not tired?" He asked, blinking his crimson eyes. he liked this little thing; don't get him wrong, but he couldn't help but get annoyed with the little tings chatters. He shook his head for a moment; before laying his head down. " Go to sleep
Umo curled his toes around his face again; mumbling something about insanity.

Keeping her pace steady, though a little slow, the hyena held her nose high in the air as she went along, attempting to work out what exactly that other scent meant. She was so caught up in doing this, that she nearly jumped out of her fur when she realized that she'd walked far enough to actually get a good look at what she assumed was the cause of those scents.
Luckily, perhaps, the wind was blowing toward her, so that meant the two probably didn't know she was there - yet. This gave her a bit more confidance, considering she was facing a rather large lion. With some kind of puppy laying in his mane...?
Well, this was new. Tilting her head, she seated herself carefully as she continued to gaze over at the two. She didn't really want to disturb them, mostly because she had no way of knowing what this lion was really like. She knew Mafa and some of the other hyenas from the graveyard really didn't like lions at all, and though this one hadn't given her a reason not to, she was still going to be cautious.
Still, he was laying with a pup..

Ripuka sniffed inside Umo's ear, found nothing too interesting about that and nibbled pleasently on his own toes. He perked his little head up, looking left and right. His tail rose and his tail twitched. Something was out there. "Muuuchaal. MUUUUUCHALLL!" He said, knudging Umo's shoulder with a wet nose. He sniffed the air again and tugged on Umo's ear lightly.
Umo wiggled his nose in frustration. Ever since this funny little critter connected with Umo; he hadn't left. Even when Umo took the little guy to visit, he didn't want to get off. He shook his head; lifting his head with a yawn and rubbing the little dudes head with his paw. "Yes Yes. I know." He said flatly, his monotone voice apparently normal. He glaced over to where the Genet was frantically making noise. "its just a young critter. Nothing to worry about. Stay on my back, it will not get you." He said.
Ripuka sniffed distastefully but because he trusted Umo and sat down. He could see the little Hyena's feet from where he was perched on Umos' back but nothing else. So with a sigh, he scratched his head and sniffed at a falling leaf
