Actually, Gunbound IS Korean, and the economy follows one of the Korean models for MMRPG's. Make it free, but make people pay real cash for items. They're perfectly fine with that, and so are the Japanese. The Americans aren't because they're twats and scum (and kids without access to credit cards). The same model works with games like online anime golf PangYa
http://www.pangya.com/english/ and it's perfectly fine. Especially since the best items are only bought using the game currency, rather than real money (that means that the coolest golf club set - the medieval weapons clubs, and the cute witch caddy are beyond my reach
crying ).
Breaking the home system? Korea has a dedicated 12 megabit internet system for chrissake, and they're bloody machines anyway (dying over counterstrike, hahaha). Both Blizard and Arenanet were wise enough to sell World of Warcraft and Guild Wars to them, to make sure they're entirely successful. And now they're reaping the rewards of a stupidly dedicated hardcore community.
