 She was ecstatic today. Well, more than just that, really--she was excited beyond comprehension, and the reason was only one little factoid: she was seeing her mate, Delano. The bright red "knight in shining armor" unicorn, who captured her heart on one mystical night, a night where she had been vulnerable but beyond caring as to who saw her.
She ran out into a small clearing, a place where she knew Delano often lingered or came by. Wondering if he had come by yet, she looked around to see if she could spot the outstanding red coat of her mate. "Delano, my love, where are you...?" She spoke softly, carefully, but in an excited tone. He was around here somewhere; she knew it.

 Delano weaved his way through the trees, making his way to his usual clearing. He loved to spend time there and it made him easy for his mate to find. His gold en angel. Oh how his heart ached and longed for her. He had missed her so in the days that had passed. The weeks felt like a lifetime and he longed to see her and never let her out of his sight. He had never wanted to go so long without seeing her and he would do his best to make sure he would not be called away for so long from her side. It was then he heard the sweet melody of her voice ahead, calling to him. His ears perked and he swiftened his pace to a canter to reach her faster, but he could no longer wait and allowed his stride to quicken to a fast gallop. He came thundering through the trees, rushing up to his beloved Aruna, tossing his head as he neighed happily and pressed his muzzle to her. How he had missed her warm touch and soft velvety coat. " My Golden Angel, how I missed you so."

The sound of familiar, thundering hoofbeats followed by the grand appearance of her beloved red coated mate had her perked up and happily nuzzling him back. She had missed him so much in the days they had been seperated--she now understood how her father had felt with how he and her mother lived in different areas. She had decided to give up living with her father to live with her mate, and she was resolved. She was here to discuss this decision with Delano, and she wondered if he'd accept her proposal? "My love, it's been so very long," she whispered against him, loving the feel of his warm strength.

Delano could feel her warm breath on his cheek as she nuzzled him in return. "It has been and I am so very sorry my love, that we were apart for so long. I do not wish for this to happen again." He pulled his head back so his crimson eyes could look into her golden orbs. "I was called away to handle a dispute but I have since then told them, they can settle their own affairs as I have my own life to live here...." His voice trailed off as a smile cracked the corner of his mouth, "With you, my golden angel." He whispered softly and leaned forward to nibble at ehr ears, feeling her soft, silken mane against his neck as he did so.

"It's all right; things have been hectic and it was completely unexpected." However, her smile at his next words along with a gently blushing face expressed her happiness no mere words could say. She loved his red eyes; they always sparkled with something unknown, something she was going to discover one day... "I'd love to live with you, Lano..." she whispered, feeling happy and radiant all at once. This was what she was missing, what she had been looking for, hoping for. His nibbling on her ears made her giggle--she hadn't realized she was ticklish there. She already loved the feel of his lips on her, even from that nibbling he was doing. She grinned to herself and began to nibble on his neck gently. "I'm glad you're all right--I was worried."

Delano watched her smile.She seemed to be glowing with joy. Her words made his flutter, like they did that first day he confessed his love to her. "And I never want to part for so long again. I never feel complete without you by my side, my angel." He chuckled as he realized his nibbling tickled her ears, so he nibbled some more, trying to tickle her. He loved the sound of her laughter. "Never fear my love, I would never leave you, even in death I would find a way."

She giggled some more and batted right back at him at his neck with her own muzzle. "Stop that... haha... it tickles!" she managed to say between laughs. "Really?" she whispered at his next words, eyes suddenly seeming brighter. His words comforted her on a level she doubted either of them would ever be able to comprehend, especially after that last meeting with... that stallion. She dared not speak his name, since it would only cause her to be angry and sad again, and her memories of what happened after were a big fuzzy, but she remembered vividly... no, no, Delano was here. "My love, it gives me great joy to say this: I love you, and always will." She knew it sounded cheesy, but she felt better saying it. "I miss my family, though," she said with a humorous look in her eyes, "I left them nearly three months ago as I searched for you."

He laughed as she giggled from his tickling, only to find himself giggling a bit as she tried tickling him back. Her muzzle did tickle but at the same time it felt so nice to him. And then he watched her eyes brighten up, wide and wondering. She seemed very happy with what he had told her. He delighted in her happiness as it shone in her golden orbs. He nibbled at her forelock tenderly before nuzzling her cheek softly. His heart always fluttered when she spoke those words. He looked at her softly with those shining crimson eyes. "Then perhaps we should go find them together? I never really got much chance to meet them."

((That's okay. XD; Things happen. 83)) She immediately dawned a guilty look, but it collided with a happy one. "I actually don't know where they are. Just before I left, I heard my father was moving somewhere with the human that took care of us." Her happy smile daunted nothing, however. "But it would be wonderful if you could really meet my parents! They would approve greatly!" She felt warm and happy; it had been a long time since she had felt this way; the last meeting with Rahu (and... Zira...) had thrown her emotions out of wack, but with Delano, they seemed to fall under a cozy atmosphere; she smiled wider. Her mate always seemed to have a way about him that made her happy; she couldn't remember the last time she was this thrilled... well, besides becoming Delano's mate that is. "My father would love to meet another unicorn! And I know he'd love to meet you, especially because you're my mate." His eyes spoke volumes to her, and she found herself sinking willingly into their depths.

Delano chuckled in delight at her excitement and happiness, but he had also seen that guilty look. "Well we shall have to seek them out then and perhaps have an adventure as we do so!" He smiled and nuzzled her but he could not forget that expression she had..."Whats wrong my love? That look on your face moments ago suggests something is bothering you. " He looked her in the face closely, but still with his kind, gentle demeaner. Her eyes could not hide it from him, something was indeed wrong, although she seemed to avoid it. "You were gone as long as I...what happened? Was it my fault for being gone so long?" Sorrow now filled his face as he wondered what had happened to her in their absense from each other. Had he caused her such unhappiness in his absense? His ears pinned back and he waited for her reply. He knew something was eatting at her, the question was what? He was delighted and happy to be with her, but he was concerned for her and he did not like the idea she was in torment about something

As soon as he had asked her the oncoming question, knowing that he would catch on that something was bugging her, tears came unbidden into her golden eyes, coated over with a sorrow she couldn't suppress. "You did nothing, my love, to hurt me. I lost my best friend..." she whispered out the last part, nearly choking on her words. "S-Something happened while we were parted." She held back from sniffling, as it would interrupt her story, but she did bury her head into his warm, comforting neck. "You remember Rahu, my old love? He later became my best friend, and then... and then, I met this other mare, Zira, who had also come to love him."
She closed her eyes, causing more tears to waterfall down her face. "The mare made me so angry. I'd never lost my cool before. That was the first time... and I... and I... I told Rahu that I cut all ties with him!" She sobbed, and continued. "What hurts the most is that it felt like everything was my fault, again. I'm worry about him, and at the time, I was so angry, I wish you had been there, Lano." She continued to cry. "I was so relieved and happy when I saw you earlier; I pushed back all my sadness for you, my mate... I just wish... I just wish I hadn't been so... thoughtless..." Aruna could never be thoughtless; she was an extremely thoughtful mare, and, at all times, thought things through. Delano had helped to ease her torture, but when he asked that question, it all came flooding back.

Delano's eyes looked in her tearful golden orbs, his showing the concern he felt deeply seeing her upset and hurting like this. Delano moved forward and draped his head over hers, allowing his mane to fall over her head so she could hide her tears into it if she wished. He listened as she spoke, knowing something must have happened, and somehow his heart felt heavy knowing she might still love Rahu. What else could explain how she acted around Rahu or now with this other mare she spoke of. But this he would not speak of with her. He knew she had made her choice to be with him and he also knew she loved him and that was all he could ask of her. "Yes I remember him. What happened my love?" His voice was soft and deep and he tried to make it soothing to her.
Delano rubbed her neck softly withhis muzzle. "on the contrary you lost it once before when you fought with Rahu....I remember that grim day when I nearly took his life." He sighed heavily whens he said she had cut all ties with him. "Perhaps it hurts more for another reason, and this reason is ok to feel and it seems to me you might be punishing yourself for these feelings. " He pulled his head back slightly so his eyes could meet hers once more. "An old love, not to mention first true love, is always the hardest to get over...and one never truly does. Rahu will always hold a piece of your heart. I know this, and I accept it. I love you just the same. But when will you stop hurting yourself over it?" He nuzzled her muzzle tenderly. "I will always be here for you Aruna. But you need to stop pushing these thoughts and sadness back just for me...its time you met them head on and dealt with them so they do not torture you anymore. It saddens me to see you hurting like this. " A small smile weakly cracked his face. "Thoughtless? Noo...you are nothing like that my love. The way you hurt yourself to protect those you love is proof enough of that."

She breathed a sigh of relief; a long breath which she had not even realized she'd been holding. "I... I did... didn't I?" she whispered, suddenly recalling the scars that were now grown over from her chocolate coat... Rahu's Mark was no more... "...But you still healed him. I couldn't ask for someone better... and it wasn't your fault. He turned at the wrong time... that time..." Delano's words brought a comfort Aruna had needed for a long time to come. A sad smile overcame her face as she looked back at Delano, tears forming in her golden eyes but not falling. "I knew meeting you was perfect, but I didn't know that it would be even better than I thought." Her hidden words meant more than she knew; she loved Delano so damn much that it was surprising to her that she didn't love Rahu as much as she used to. She loved Rahu, yes, but she now realized it wasn't to be... it never would.
She loved her red unicorn so damn much it made her chest hurt... and she loved him so damn much for being there for her. And she would still love him more than what she had mentioned. She buried her head against his neck, under his protecting strength, and nuzzled him. Her body shuddered as she slowly calmed down through taking long, deep breaths, and at that moment she realized just how lucky she was to have Delano as a mate. And he was hers; all hers, just as she was his. Pulling away from his protective aura, she looked at him and nuzzled him back at his muzzle. "I'm sorry I worried you so much, Lano. I guess I just needed to hear something... like what you just said. It hurts... but you're right... I have to let things go..." She sounded so much like a wimpy mare than her usual self that she was disgusted with herself for a minute, and then she remembered Delano was there... someone, her mate... was there for her. And that was all she really needed.

Delano watched her as she seemed to let out an awful big sigh. his eyes twinkled likes rubies, with curiousity and love shining through for her. "Yes. I did. I could not let him die by my doing...I never meant to harm him that badly, and so it was my duty and calling to heal him. His purpose was not yet fulfilled, whatever it maybe. " He looked into he face, meeting her gaze. Her expression was so sad....but almost happy at the same time. Perhaps the relief of this burden she had punished herself to carry? Only she truly knew that answer. Her words brought a purple flush to his red cheeks and his heart fluttered softly. He loved that feeling she gave him.
He let his head fall overtop hers once more as she burried hers into his neck. He could feel the shutters starting to slow down, and a calm peacefulness seemed to be returning. And it was then she pulled back and nuzzled him. He smiled softly, that same smile he had always reserved just for her, his love, his mate, his golden angel. "Do not punish yourself my love. In the end it accomplishes nothing but hurting you and perhaps others with words and actions caused by your own tormented pain " He nuzzled her cheek back in a soothing manner. "Don't fret my angel, I will always be here with you. As promised, I will never be far from your side. "

"And you wonder why I love you so much, Lano," she said, grinning. She loved how he had a strong, stout heart, a caring heart, and the ability to heal... something she could never do, or have. "I know you never meant ill to him--that was never your purpose. You only meant to teach him a lesson, and a lesson was what he needed... though perhaps I needed one myself." She sighed a bit, but then perked up again. "You're so warm, Delano. And... just everything to me." She smiled at his blush--awww, so cute!--and nuzzled him. "I know... and I can never tell you just how much I appreciate having you by my side."
