Silent gazed up into the starry sky. Rain drops skewed her vision. Placing her hoody over her soaking hair, Silent quickly dashed through the streets in hopes of finding shelter. Looking into each shop window darkness crept into each corner. No store was open. She looked down the street she walked upon. A faint light came from a window. Quickly, Silent darted down the sidewalk and flew into the store. A bell jingled her entry.
"Oh my goodness, are you alright?" Huni gasped, ushering Silent to a plush armchair. She stoked the fire to help dry the soaked woman. "I'll be right back with some towels, just make yourself comfy." she instructed before heading upstairs.
Linneas crawled up to Silent, tugging at the woman's leg while he chewed on Pra.
Silent nodded her head as the woman led her to a dry and comfy chair. " Th..Th...Thank.... You... " She chattered out. A shaky finger pushed an unruly bang behind her ear. She brought her hands out in front of her towards the fire. The warmth seeped through her wet clothes. Just as relaxation came to her body her leg was jerked from its place. Looking down upon the floor a small child tugged at her boot. A smile came to Silent's ruby red lips. Picking the baby up, Silent carefully set the boy on her lap. Her finger tapped his nose.
" And who are you?" She whispered.
Linneas giggled as Silent picked him up, she was wet and he found it so interesting. His pudgy fingers tried to catch the small droplets of water that dripped down from the woman.
But the infant's giggle wasn't enough to muffle the sound of the Study door opening.
Silent giggled at the childs antics. She shook her head from side to side to spray a few droplets towards the baby's way. Her eyes flitted from the child to the sound of a creak. Sensitive ears caught the faintest of sounds. Slowly, she rose from the chair with the child in her arms. Chocolate colored eyes looked at the baby.
" Um... Since I don't see the lady here, I think I'll take you with me so we can investigate. Not that I'm scared." She shook her head. Of course she wasn't. Not in the slightest. Not one bit. Yeah right.
" You'll keep me company, won't you?" She asked the child as her feet unconsciously led her to a wooden door. She placed her hand open the slightly opened door and pushed it open. Brown eyes were greeted with a Study room. Interesting. She crossed the entry way and looked around the small room.
Soundlessly, the door closed behind the two, with only the audible sound of the door locking could be heard. The Tome atop the writing table ruffled its pages to attract attention.
Linneas had experienced this before and was excitedly gurgling, babbling in baby talk, somehow knowing he'd meet someone new.
Huni returned and blinked in surprise. "Where'd she go?" she wondered. Then she spied a trail of water leading from the armchair to the Study. "Not again... I might as well just put a sign "Enter at your own risk." Not like anything I've done has helped." she sighed in defeat.
Silent literally jumped as the door closed behind her. Quickly, she went to grab the handle hoping that it would turn. It didn't.
" Great. Some shoddy shop this woman has." The child giggled in her arms, not scared in the slightest. A look came across her face. " I'm glad you find this funny. " She conversed with the child. She was such a wimp.
Brown eyes fell upon an old book. The pages looked withered as if they would crumble if frail fingers turned the pages. The pages flapped of their own accord. A slender finger pointed towards the book as she talked to the child.
" Now you see, that's just not right." Whether it was conventional or not, curiosity took over. Small steps led her to the table that held the book on its frame.
The Tome flipped open, pages rustling of their own volition before settling into stillness.
Linneas clapped his hands at the book, growing more and more excited at the prospect of meeting a new playmate.
Words faded onto the page before Silent, a question addressed to the soaked woman:
What do you get when you fall in love?Droplets fell upon the withered pages. Words appeared out of nowhere. What do you get when you fall in love? Was this some sort of sick joke? She looked around the room to see if she could find an exit. There was none. Her attention went back to the back. It was as if it knew her. Called to her. A tear escaped her eye.
" What do you get when you fall in love, huh? Oh, I know that too well." She whispered to the baby in her arms. She knew. She knew the answer to that question. Taking the quill pen that lay next to the book she wrote down her answer in legible cursive.
Heartache. Simple and to the point. More tears escaped her eyes as feelings and emotions ransacked her body. She knew the answer with all her heart. She witnessed and experienced the outcome of love. It was always heartache in one form or another. As if seeking comfort she hugged the child closer to her body.
" Heartache. That's what you get. Heartache." she whispered into the empty room.
As soon as Silent finished her response, there came the beating of mighty winds. A whirlwind of feathers spun out from the Tome, scooping Silent up from the ground. The flapping sound grew louder, causing the whirlwind's captive to rise into the heavens.
And then the flapping stopped, the beating of mighty wings gradually grew soft. And the whirlwind slowly lowered Silent and Linneas to the ground.
Where the Tome had been now sat a baby boy, black wings tucked behind him as he casually released hold of a plush, as if embarrassed to be seen with such a cuddly thing. On his lap was another Tome, and embossed on the cover was the word "Angelus"

"Open up in there!" Huni ordered, more at the Study than the person inside.
Linneas cooed in awe, the new Tale looked interesting, to say the least. He had never seen anyone with wings before.
Silent's arms gripped tightly around the child as she felt her body being swept up into the air by feathers. The wind rustled her hair and skewed her vision. It seemed like eternity before she felt her body being lowered back to the ground. Moving her hair out of her eyes she was greeted with a child instead of a book.
And what a child. His feathery wings were his most pronounced feature. She wondered what other mysteries this one had. Slowly, she came forward as brown eyes eyed one another. On his lap laid another Tome like the one that she had written in not moments earlier. Angelus.
" Angelus?" she whispered. The child slightly moved at the name. His hand wanted to grasp onto the plush that laid beside him, but he quickly returned his hand to his lap.
Silent's head spun to the locked door. Scooping the child up in her arms, she made sure to grab the plush as well. Odd little toy, she thought. Instanlty, Angelus snuggled into her embrace. She wasn't expecting that. Slowly, Silent walked to the door and slowly turned the knob.
"Are you alright?" Huni gasped, scooping up Linneas into her own arms. "Oh my little Linny, what did that horrible, horrible Study make you see?"
Linneas squirmed in his mother's embrace, he turned to face the other boy. He had a plush of his own too! Waving his broom plush, he gurgled to Angelus.
"Me Leenee. Hu yu?" he asked him, though only the other infant would be able to understand.
Silent returned the child back to his rightful owner. Looking down into her occupied arms, brown eyes stared into her own. It felt like this child knew all. Knew everything there was to know, but kept it a secret. A smile came to her lips.
" You're going to be a misfit, aren't you?" She joked to the boy.
Angelus' head turned at the sound of another. The other child. His eyes scrutinized the others toy. Interesting. Different. Broom plush? Odd. Slowly, small fingers grasped onto his own plush, but he didn't embrace it. He held it out so the other could see.
" Leenee?" He repeated the name. His winges slightly flapped as foreign words escaped his lips. He looked to the tome that the woman held in her other hand. Angelus. That must be his name. His hand pointed to himself, to the cross that ordained his neck.
" Angelus." He was able to pronounce the name very well for his age.
