Okay, I originally thought this was a problem of mine, but it seems that a lot of y'all are suffering from it. What is it? Lack of enthusiasm towards continuing one's fanfiction. It's really annoying, especially when you've got a lot of ideas built up. So what do we do about it? Well, how about this? We use this topic to prod the authors back into action! Nothing bad (put away the tasers, girls), but my thought was this: you post the fanfic you're working on, and have people read it and comment on it in the hopes that their comments will inspire you to pick it back up. How's that sound? If I may start... http://www.fanfiction.net/s/1543730/1/

Honey, my problem is mainly the fact that I'm a damn vain b***h when it comes to my writing. I put one fic to a halt after reviewers pissed me off... *sighs* Why the heck can't they understand that prologues aren't the sole basis for the way the characters will act throughout the story? Giving my muse a good bash just annoys me to kingdom come! I will continue mine once I cool off... I'm enthusiastic but laziness and a bad mood are what kills my fics most of the time. rofl I'm at my best when I'm ignoring schoolwork and since it's summer vacation, the adrenaline of staying up late to write a fic while ignoring my algebra just isn't there... @_@

I've learned to ignore idiots for the most part... seriously. Take them seriously and you have no hope of getting much done in the world.
Me, I usually write short stories and stuff. Planning on putting some stuff on Fictionpress once I get it edited sufficiently, and probably get some Fanfics started this summer when I have more time to screw around.

Certainly, one of the worst possible things someone can do to prevent me from writing is to criticize me ruthlessly. crying If they are a huge fan and see descrepencies in my writing, instead of complaining about it, if they would take me by the hand and show me my mistakes, I would be much more obliged to continue my story.
Otherwise, I tend to write short fics for this very reason. Besides, fanfiction is a hobby, and hobbies often have to get nudged aside for the necessities of life, like school and work.

I haven't had the courage to post my Gundam fics yet... I suppose I should get off my tuchis and do that.
And I agree that the worst way to motivate an author is to be cruel... I'd rather they PM me and tell me politely but calmly what they did not like--and as GreenInkling says, show me my mistakes. Outright flaming and giving of angst is not fair or helpful at all...
