Just relax.
Billy had learned that although he tried to keep himself calm and collected, the collar locked around his neck with it's flickering red light seemed intent on keeping him always in at least a dazed state. With carefull breathing and thought he could keep himself from getting too worked up, but just the thought of the man on hte other side of the hidden video cameras was enough to send his heartrate up that one notch needed for the world to be tuned out by the embrace of the drugs. Days. It had been days. Either hiding in the village one place or another, riding the unending high. People had spoken to him- he remembered as much, but he couldn't remember who or when- everything was a blurr.
After days of this, he had decided to try the lake once more. He loaded his tattered and torn backpack that had once carried his humanly possessions and filled it with bottles of water and various seafood stuffs to bring back with him. He hunted befor, he could hunt again. He just needed to ******** had finished his reserves from the cafeteria the night befor, which left him to battle with the collar or starve. He hid on the waterbed, waiting for the little meals to flit by on their rainbow currents, but his usually so vicious tentacles were far too slow, always grabbing nothing or waterweeds. After hours of this, he gave up, crawling up onto the shore to curl up in misery in the grass by his chair and attempt to sleep through the hunger pangs. Relaaaaax. Right.

Sid thought about water a lot lately. It wasn't because of any faint instincts kicking in, or at least he told himself it likely wasn't, but rather he wondered how things were going to progress. How long before he needed it? Would he be able to survive out of it when it was all over? It bothered him a lot, but he was afraid to ask. Knowing would likely only turn worry into full out dread. Just wondering was fine, it was easier to push that from his thoughts in any case.
He'd manage, with some difficulty, to down a few pills before he set out, a preemptive measure against the walk. It also helped to keep him from thinking too much about what his future might hold, or what might fly into his mouth thanks to being unable to close the damn thing. The pills were just kicking in as he reached the lake, smoothing out on the unpleasant edges digging at his mind. Oh, and they made his leg stop hurting, too.
He was vaguely surprised to find Billy lying in the grass. Remembering their previous, terribly awkward encounter, he approached him slowly. It was hard keeping himself from poking him with the cane, just to be sure he was only sleeping. He managed not to.
"Hey," he said. At least he couldn't ******** that word up... much. He still hadn't work past not sounding like an idiot, even if he'd made a small amount of progress on certain troublesome sounds.

The octopus gave a little groan, lifting his head to blink up at the man above him groggily. He had been dreaming about hands with fingers and feet with toes. Two of each with ten digits accordingly, just as nature had origonally intended. When he closed his eyes, he could still feel them, but attempting to wiggle them only resulted in the twitching of tentacles. "I aint.... don' nothin'... leave me be..." He grunted.

"Juth though' ah say hi," Sid said. He tried to sound innocent about it, but from the moment 'just' came out as 'juth' it slid towards annoyed. He looked Billy over, made note of the feebly twitching tentacles, and couldn't quite make out whether he was fatigued, or drugged, or maybe even near death. He sighed. "Yeh awrigh'?"
If it was that last option, he'd find out shortly. If not... hell, he already felt stupid, but then how could you read an octopus?

"Been.... out o' me head... fer days... weeks? Cannae... remember 'zac'ly..." He twisted, stiffly crawling back to his chair. As he blinked, his eyes rolling and struggling to focus, it was evident he was a touch more sober than the last time they had met at the very least. As he leaned up against the wheel, he seemed to take in the face of the older man with an unreadable expression. "Wha' happened t'yer face?"

"Thih?" Sid asked, touching his chin with one webbed hand as if was nothing new. "Ah..." he hesitated. "Y'know." It wasn't that he didn't want to speak of it, more like he still couldn't say 'changed'.
He regretted choking down those painkillers. It would have been nice to get mad, but the feeling of being packed in cotton left little room for more than mild vague annoyance, like it had all happened to someone else.

"Y'look.... feckin' hideous." The octopus's man twitched into a smile and he gave a weak sort of snicker. "Wha's.... tha' comin' from... yer arse?"

One second thought, maybe the drugs were a good thing. They were why Sid laughed at the first comment. "S'a... es a..." He managed to bring his mouth up just enough to say, "Tail."
It'd suck to go through the same misunderstanding twice over that. " 'Uined mah kants... pants. Shih."

Billy watched the tail in question as though utterly fascinated, and giggled once his eyes flickered back up to Sid's face, "Yer a fish? I promise... no' t' eacha'."

The mention of the tail- and subsequently think of it- made it twitch again. Sid reached back and grabbed it, for all the good that would do.
"Thangs..." Sid said. He tried to sound sarcastic. "Ah apeethiate thah."
He stuck his free hand in his pocket just to keep himself from touching his own tail again. The absence of his lighter reminded him about the carton of cigarettes back in his duplex... and the fact he'd likely never be able to smoke no matter what he did.
"Hey, woul' yeh lahk the res' uf mah thokes?"
Then he remembered... the withdraw was gonna be a b***h. That got another sigh out of him.

The octopus's eyes lit up, his expression looking extatic for a few moment befor the red flickering light kicked in and the man sagged against his chair with a slackened look. "Thaaaaa'd be looooverly." He sighed dreamily.

The flicker of the red light made Sid tense. Nice to know the offer excited Billy that much.
"Shih... Sowwy." He cleared his throat and glanced around nervously. "Yeh, tho- so- ah don' nee' 'em ehnee mo'." He held up his hands in a helpless gesture. Afterwards he leaned a little closer to make sure Billy was still with him.

Billy slid down the line of the wheel, his head lolling as he watched Sid's oversized jaw flap in utter fascination. "Ye keep.... makin'... th' funniest noises!"

"Amathing idnit?" Sid said, narrowing his eyes. His expression beyond that was unreadable, his mouth giving him a perpetually stunned look. The comment, despite the comfortable haze, surprisingly annoyed him even more.
"Yuh thlippin, by the way."

The squishier of the two men leaned his head forward, grinning stupidly to show off each and every one of his own mutated, and illy cared for teeth, "Slippin'? Tha' ....wha' they call it, ...now?"
