Had to find him. Only thing that rang through the small brown cubs mind as he padded along, shuffling through the taller grass of the Pridelands. A blue iridescent feather hanging from behind his left ear. His souvenir from his meeting with the great blue god of war, Mrost.

Inari was on a mission today.

It had been several days since he saw the god, when he heard about the tests Mrost gave would-be warriors. The wind blew gently, making the iridescent feather sway gently. He hadn't told his family where he had REALLY gotten the feather from, he said he had found it on the ground. Though the feather meant much more to Inari then somethign he had just found.

But today Inari was determined to find him, the blue lion Mrost had asked him to search out.

Inari went along, golden eyes traveling over everything. He was heading towards the water hole, perhaps he might see them there today, least the small cub hoped he did. Then he could go search for Mrost, and possibly get one of the tests.

Only time would tell.

Na-Be was ill at ease. This was a pretty major state of emotion for the blue lion, normally he floated along in a blissful happy bubble. But he couldn't stay that way after finding two carefully placed blue feathers in his den while he slept. Mrost had been there.

Yet he was still alive, that was the thing that messed with him most, the god had actually been near enough to slit his throat but hadn't. Was he now part of one of Mrost's twisted schemes? He knew how much the god despised murder in cold blood, he'd find a way to draw Na into "honourable" combat and kill him there.

It chilled him, that knowledge that something was coming, his dreams fortelling a darkness in his life. A key link in the defensive chain was gone and Mrost could reach him, and, worse still, his family.

He sat on a grassy hill near his den, looking more than worried.

Inari sat back and pawed at the ground in front of him, this was harder then he thought it would be. But how hard was it to find a blue lion!? Eveidently, a challenge. Peering around Inari saw a figure in the not so far distance atop a grassy hill. Standing up adn taking a few laps of water to cool himself down Inari headed in theat direction. As if he was mentally being pushed there.

The feather swayed abck adn forth as he padded along, his legs were getting longer, showing he would no longer be a cub in the future that was fast approaching. Soon he would be older, bigger, then perhaps then mrost would see him as a better pontential warrior.

Stopping sevreal yards away Inari's eyes went wide, golden hues resting on a bright blue figure as the sun beat down upon the earth. He was large, large then most lions Inari had met...his mane was also...poofy, and white...strange. No matter, Inari bounded forward, coming closer and closer to the figure. Contemplating on whether or not to hide the feather.

He could just use his story if he had to though...he had to be sneaky.

"Hello," he said with a smile as he approached the blue mass of fur. His tail flicked to the side as he stopped a few feet away, and sat back. "How're you today? I haven't seen you around here before....probably cause' my parents keep me close to the den...your very bright," he said with an innocent smile. He admired the blue tone, he truly did. He jsut hoped this lion would get suspiscious, "I'm Inari," he said puffing his chest out a little bit.

Na looked back in suprise the moment Inari broke his concentration, for a split second the worry still etched into his features. But it was fleeting, as if he'd never been concerned he grinned broadly, donning the chirpy mask he loved to wear. "Hullo there." he said with a broad smile, ignoring any of the little twinges his abilities gave him for now.

Tilting his head slightly, he looked confused "Bright? No one ever calls me that. Dim maybe, thick, stupid, not-all-there." he rhymed them off in a sing-song voice "Never bright."

Apparently he wasn't good at the intricacies of perception.

"Iiiiiiimmmmm NA-BE!" he said, holding his head up high.

"Na-be, mmm interesting name, I like it!" he said with a smile. Surely this lion wasn't the lion Mrost was talking about, he didn't seem dangerous just...overly perky. Strange. It was also strange how Na-be listed off different terms others had given him. It seemed others didn't think of him as smart, or at least a couple lions...or one, someone that could come up with all those names easily.

His golden eyes then traveled to that which was around Na-be neck, an odd necklace type thing with blue feathers...hmmm. Perhaps this was the lion. But still, eh wasn't dangerous looking. He peered around adn thought of what else Mrost had asked him to find out, oh yes, den site.
"Do you den near here Na-be? Or just out for a walk like me?" he asked with teh cub-like curiousity he shoudl have, not the planning means of a god he was beginning to idolize.

Inari was also wondering if he had any family, perhaps that would be a good thing to find out as well. But it would be an odd question to aks, perhaps Na-be would give a perky answer before Inari could say anything. His tail flicked behind him as he wondered, would he be able to pass the test Mrost might give him if he did this right.

Na remained reclining, like a large blue housecat, seemingly defenseless despite his size and frame. He gave Inari a pleasantly thoughtful look again, as though the cub was key to some important thought. However, he simply said "Mmm, It means Bane. My father isn't a fan of his kids."

Red, somewhere in Na's conciousness cackled, he /would/ be the bane of Mrost. Make the god regret ever shunning them both, make him suffer. That was the reasoning behind the necklace, wear the threat with pride, show Mrost he was far from afraid.

Na was afraid though, he had none of the cockiness of his alter ego and he'd seen what Mrost thought of, what he did and had done in the past. Perhaps that was why, somehow, this lion seemed familiar to the seer. He blinked his wide amber eyes and spoke again.

"Yeah. I stay over there." he pointed to the little den he called home. "S'nice there."

Bane? Such a strange word, Inari didn't really know what it meant. Perhaps he would someday, but that word, Bane, he'd have to remember, case that was the name Mrost was looking for. His golden hues settled on the necklace for a minute, blue feathers...were they Mrost's? Perhaps, he could always ask...

The words of Na-be's den caught the cub's attention again. Eyes traveling voer to where Na-be had pointed out. OKay, he had the name, he had the den site. He had the description, but still...hmm...Inari wondered if he could find out more, to impress Mrost perhaps.
"Do you stay by yourself there? Or do you live with your family? I live with my family that way," he said pointing with a paw. Yes, perhaps he could find out if he had a family.

But he was also curious about the necklace.

"The blue feathers, they're neat, I found this one," he said making a gesture to the feather that hung from behind his left ear, "A bird musta dropped it...did you find yours too? Or do they like...mean something? I've heard stories from oterhs about necklaces, that they hold value of some kind...certain ones that is..." Inari spoke with a smile. Smile never fading, he wanted to make sure he wasn't suspiscious, not at all.

Na didn't have the capacity to be really suspicious of anyone, only Red mistrusted any and all lions who came along. As such he never saw anything wrong with blurting out facts and information his alter ego would rather he didn't say. He smiled proudly "Sometimes my cubs stay over but not as much these days, but thats okay, they are a' gettin' bigger!" he laughed. He waved his tail, glad to be able to say that he had a family too.

His gaze followed Inari's paw to the feather behind his own ear to the necklace he currently wore. He frowned, as always, Red coming to the fore when it came to Mrost. "They aren't neat." he stated "Pretty maybe but from a dangerous lion, yes. The lion these belong to, that's right, not a bird, a lion, or something that could barely be called a lion, is my father and he wants me dead." Red gave a sadistic grin "Mrost is like that, all prettyness, flash and strength until he is the death of you. I've seen the soldiers that died under his command believing that they were in the right all along." he curled his lip in disgust "By the end they were too blind to listen to anyone but him."

The amber eyes, turned steely and cold as Red held command narrowed. "No bird dropped that thing, it's Mrost's, and I warn you, found or not, anything to do with that b*****d is trouble."

Okay. So Na-be had a family, cubs, that might be interesting to tell Mrost, but something happened, something changed in Na-be, it sort of scared Inari for a little bit. So this was why he was dangerous. He gulped quietly, what should he do...run? No, surely he would get caught. His mind was racing.

The feathers Na-be had were from Mrost too, Mrost was Na-be's father? Interesting. But Mrost didn't seem as evil as Na-be was portraying him as, Na-be seemed like the dangerous one. Inari understood though, if he or anyone crossed Mrost the wrong way, punshiment would be expected.

Inari scooted back a bit from Na-be, a bit nervous of what he might do. So his story wasn't working, sorta, he still stated he found it, "I didn't mean anything by it really...I didn't know..." his ears folded backwards, some would think in sadness for making Na-be upset. But it was more out of nervousness then anything else.

But Inari couldn't help but wonder what Na-be did know, surely Mrost wouldn't kill him...right? Na-be maybe, but he was doing what Mrost said, Inari wanted to be a warrior, so he was doing what he had to. He wanted to be strong, to protect those he cared for...grrr, so confusing this all was. Inari wondered how far away Mrost would be...how fast he could find him.

Red narrowed his eyes at Inari, baring his fangs ever so slightly. "HE'S WAR." he snarled, tail lashing. "War is something which, no matter how nice it's intentions kills people! In the case of Mrost, it's what you don't know that can hurt you. He's all glory and honour but the result is always the same!" he tossed his head in dispair.

"Never have anything to do with him, keep you shiny feather but never forget where it came from or what it represents." and with that comment he surrendered control back to the slightly confused Na.

"Uhm..." he looked worried at Inari's apparent anxiety and cowered back a bit. "I'm sorry."

Inari lowered himself closer to the ground. This lion was dangerous! mrost was the one who was right, not this...this lion who had outbursts like he did. It was so strange! So...terrifying as well. He backed up a few feet and then raised himself up a little, it seeming like Na-be had calmed down.

"Like I said...I didn't know...and its okay..." he said trailing off, he still didn't understand where the outburst had come from. Evidently Mrost hated him adn he hated Mrost.

Family issues much?

The time was passing faster now, soon his parents would be looking for Inari. If he was out here all alone not close to the den, he could get in trouble.

That...and he had to find Mrost to tell him what he now knew.

"I'm sorry Na-be but I must go," he said with a sincere looking smile, "My parents will be looking for me, but I do hope to see you again," maybe, Na-be was still odd in Inari's eyes. Turning slowly, to make sure Na-be didn't suddently attack Inari watched his back as he padded off towards the den where his siblings were sure to be playing.

The only word that could come to his mind was 'strange.'
