Let me first say that I AM Christian, and a lover of God through Christ. But I ahve a real question. What do people think about "The Trinity"....while I do belibe in God the father, Jesus, the Son of God, and the Holy Spirit..I ahve a hard time beliviing that they are one being...maybe one in mind, btu not ONE being, or three parts. I guess that comes from the fact the I belive that whiel Jesus is the way, truth and light, true vine, living water and over all the SON OF GOD, I don;t think I can say I belive he WAS GOD...i HOPE i CAN GET SOME FEED BACK, BECAUS EIF IM WRONG, i WOUDL LIEK TO KNOW. i JUST DONT WANT PEOPLE TO CHEW ME UP AND SPIT ME OUT. i AHVE HAD PEOPLE TELL ME IM NOT CHRISTIAN BECAUSE OF THIS....

C.S. Lewis explained in his book. He said this "A cube has six faces, but it is still 1 cube." God is all of them manifested in 3 forms.
He also put it like this. The Father is the lamp, and Jesus is the fire forever burning in it. I think the Holy Spirit is the oil of that lamp.

I've struggled with that too... I refer to just group all three under God. If you read my post, I never say "I love Jesus!" I say "I love God!" Unless I am directly refering to the man Jesus and his actions or God's presence in the world (The Holy Spirit) I say I God. Never Jesus helped me through my hard times. God.
It's just this weird thing I have, I guess. Like, yeah, Jesus was Son's God and saved me and stuff, but I guess I believe Jesus and the Holy Spirit are just different facets of God. Still God, but in another form.
What Imotoku said exsplains it better than I could, anyway.

I love that book (and that book is Mere Christianity by the way, for whoever was wondering). heart

Think of (to use St. Patrick's example) a clover. Three 'heads' (that is, leafs) but still one clover. God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit are all just aspects, or 'heads' of YHWH.

The only problem with using all these examples to explain the Trinity is that we're trying to apply human concepts- earthly concepts- to a Being that is anything but. We'll never be able to pinpoint an exact explanation of the Triune God in this life.
Although, I have another example. Any chemistry people know what sublimation is? It's when you have something existing in all its forms at once, because the temperature and pressure are at the exact point for this to happen. It happened in the Bible when Jesus was getting baptized, and the Holy Spirit descended upon Him at the same time the Father was speaking to Him. You had Father, Son, and Holy Spirit all right there at the exact same time.

Digi_Dream_Gurl or the egg one which is there are three parts to the egg the yoke, the white, and the shell but there all the Egg. mrgreen wow, I learned that same thing but with an apple~ XDD Quote: The only problem with using all these examples to explain the Trinity is that we're trying to apply human concepts- earthly concepts- to a Being that is anything but. We'll never be able to pinpoint an exact explanation of the Triune God in this life. I think that's the only thing we CAN do about the Trinity and MANY other things about God... Since God is so complex, our minds (as smart as we -think- we're getting) can't comprehend... maybe even never... so I'm thinking to put explinations in an human/earthy way is the only way for us to understand it at all.... but that's just my say sweatdrop The only reason you don't understand how the Trinity can be God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit at the same time is only because we're human and don't understand... ANYTHING... if you understand what I mean sweatdrop

heart heart i dont think its very much about understanding it but yet having faith in it even without always understanding how God does what he does or why, we know without a doubt we love and trust him so we just have to have faith until we get to heaven and understand such complicated things. heart heart

Jesus is and was God, just like His Father, and just like the Holy Spirit, think of it as a three-leaf clover, it is one clover but with three seperate leafs......
