Li Wei's design is largely inspired by this cutie made for me by endejester. ^_^
What is a Kirin?
A mythical Chinese animal that combines the elemental male animal ki êi (Ch:qi) and the female rin —Ù (Ch:lin). According to the Shijing (Jp: SHIKYOU) or "Book of Songs", the kirin's hoofs, legs and horn, which resemble those of a deer, are symbols of benevolence. According to the Shuwenjiezi (Jp: SETSUBUNKAIJI), the kirin has the body of a deer and the tail of an ox. Its distinctive single horn perhaps is related to the unicorn in western tradition. The kirin typically has five-colored hair but is yellow underneath. A paragon of virtue, the kirin supposedly appears in times of good government.
Though its appearance is fearsome, the kirin's demeanor is wholly pious and gentle, and it avoids harming any living thing, even the grass and insects beneath its feet. This heavenly beast lives for two thousand years and is only seen on earth once a millenium, to usher in a new era, and is said to appear at the birth of great and benevolent leaders. Confucius' mother also purportedly encountered a kirin before her child was born.
How does a Kirin Look?
There's many ways that the kirin is described and depicted from culture to culture. For the most part they have a single horn that looks like the branch from a tree or a straight antler, a mane (either around their whole neck and face or along their neck and back), legs like a deer, a tail like a lion's and whisps of fur or cloud around their feet.

Calm and collected, Li is a true gentlemen in all aspects. He's horribly slow to anger and quick to forgive where it's due. Because of his kirin nature, he feels obligated to put the needs of others before his own. He's also unable to inflict or directally influence harm upon someone else or to lie- that that he feels he has any reason to attept such things. If he feels that someone is in the wrong he is very verbal about it the first time, any offenses afterwards will go ignored. Dispite his already adult-like nature, he does enojoy playing like any child rightly should.

Origen of DNA:
The resistance has managed to end the civil war between those that support the king and those that had supported the queen. Both rulers are dead, one was murdered and the other struck down as an act of justice for her crimes. The Darkwoods have been slain- all but one -and the capital has bee tainted. The land is in confusion and begins to reform itself. Among the stronger leaders of the movement is the city of Vaale, boasting itself to be the city of light and divine influence. Their guardian, Ligon, has been sealed away from them, but his ideals remain strong. Outsiders are to blame for the constant conflict in the realm. They are to blame for the guardians having been sealed away, and they are to blame for the death of the last two silver-winged Ambronians who had been gifted to the people by the phoenix himself to bring the realm back into light.
The resistance sees Vaale as a strong leader in the reform so they send their support to them. It’s not enough, however. Vaale has always been seen as overly righteous in their thinking and have been known to take brash actions. They believe that all outsiders should be driven from the realm or put to death for the good of the realm, that the realm has been thrown into chaos because they’ve been allowed to remain in the realm. This opinion has lost support after the settlement of Seagate which stands as a stronghold still despite many trials- and is led by an outsider rumored to have been the one to slay Dyzm.
Vaale, however, has one of the oldest libraries of the realm and knows more about many of the countries outside of the capital. They know of the kirin of the south and how they inspire the people’s thought to them. A kirin that stands for a cause could never be in the wrong and with just that simple sign giving power to a cause- the people would gladly join and fight for a cause. Vaale then hires one of the radicals to ship out to the south and retrieve a kirin egg. Little do they know that not one but two eggs lay waiting to hatch. Only one of the eggs is taken though it’s enough to send Hokhiro into a rage.
The egg is taken to Vaale where it hatches. It will remain unknown to the resistance that the young newborn is the kirin of mercy rather than that of judgment as they originally intended. Even with a mere hatchling, the movement gains support and plans are hatched to move out and strike at the first site of outsider infestation- Lutta.
Thomas Barkhelm, younger brother to Simon Barkhelm- current steward of Vaale, is called back to his former home after an enemy attack flattened much of the white city prior to the kirin's arrival. In his time there he spent long hours monotoring relations between the black and white tribe, acting as a middle ground between the two as they fought to settle their differences enough to save those who had been wounded in the recent battle.
During his stay, the kirin egg both arrives and hatches before his brother, Simon, who is unhesitant to state his resentment against his brother for having left the realm. Thomas quietly resents his brother for this. While Lu Wing, the young kirin, sleeps, Thomas takes a single hair from his mane and returns to Gaia. Thomas believes, as does Simon, that Lu-Wing is a kirin of justice- a powerful ally to be had.
In thinking this, Thomas seeks to create for himself a child with the abilities and foresight of the justice kirin.
Plans for the future:
There's a lot that's gone unsaid about Thomas and his past, less that he'd actually be willing to say. All anyone really knows is that he's well-guarded, a bit bitter, and he seems to resent a lot of things. The teachers know just about as much as the children do and he'd like to keep it that way. Perhaps the only person that might have a clue as to where Thomas actually came from is Alan.
In his past, Thomas was a loving husband and fther to a newborn child. He graduated as the top student of the magic academy and was among the very few student selected to recieve training for the position of archmage under Istari, the most reconized of the order. Thomas was very close to accomplishing his goal and becoming the lord of Vaale, the city of light. During the war of the second age, he was called to the front lines as a mage support. The campaign he was involved in was unsucessful though the war was eventually won, he woudln't be around to see it's conclusion.
The enemy breached the defenses and flooded into Vaale, laying seige to the city. Among the civillian casualties, both Thom's wife and child were slain before the enemy withdrew.
Soon after the battle Thomas abandoned his post and realm, gating far from either of them with only a silver ring to tie him back to his family. He found a new life on gaia but became bitter and guarded, taking out his frusterations on others and honing children in the shadow of his disappointment in his own failure.
Though he sought the kirin of justice to justify his actions and leaving the realm- he'll recieve a more appropreate figure, the kirin of mercy.

WTL's Opinion Granted, I think the four legs idea is really cute and he picture you have of it is adorable, I think a two legged version is more productive story wise for DCorp. Having four legs like that is going to make riding on a dragon difficult...unless you're talking lots of harnesses and straps, which is the only way I can think of that he'd be able to stay on. And that's my two cents. :3 Congrats on getting all teh monies! <3

I think you should do both, he starts out centaur-like as a little kid, and becomes faun-like as he gets older. Win-Win situation XD
