anybody ever seen or heard an effects pedal that makes your guitar sound like a piano or any other instrument?

no, but i did build a guitar amp out of a whilitzer organ and left all the insturment selection switches in tact... that was kinda cool, but it didnt shape the tone as well as it did for the organ. probably because my les paul wasnt an organ... i sold that amp for about $300, i only invested about $50 into it. *TUBES*

yeah it's called a guitar syntherizer.

Roland is the company to look at. the GR-20 is good and comes with the midi (i think) pickup that is needed.

yeah a midi pup is needed and then also an effects proccessor for midi.

yeah then you need the processor for all of the effects

the GR-20 is a processor. it fits into a setup like a standard effects pedal.
