Has anyone ever played Hoshigami for PS1? I was reading PSM's (Playstation Magazine) Review round up and found Hoshigami to look alot like Disgaea. Can anyone tell me more about it? (I'm interested xd )

Saegil has it.

For what I watched of him playing it, it is not very good. >.< But I haven't really played it for myself, so I don't know. =\

Ouch Hoshigami. Its a really nice looking game like final fantasy tactics. I take pride in finishing difficult games but... Hoshigami is too much. Its so frustrating you will be in a battle forever, have a character die and have to do the battle over or continue without them (even story character)
The game uses a turn base system like FFT so everyone goes based on their speed. Your characters have different weapon types and elements. It has many good concepts but its just extremely difficult.
To make things worse, enemies are the same level as your highest level character in any battle so you cannot level up too much or you will get slaughtered. Also they get new equipment more often than you do and the only way you can rake up good stuff is by doing combos to your enemies which involve you positioning your people in certain patterns to attack one enemy. By the time you are strong enough or have enough equipment to win a battle you will likely forget the previous cut scenes and not care about the story altogether.
If you need another tactical rpg go for Tactis Ogre (challenging but not impossible), final fantasy tactics, Vanguard bandits, or even Vandal Hearts. Stay away from Hoshigami. Some people seek a challenge but there are some games where they are soooo hard they are not fun.

Yes tactics ogre is pricey, I got lucky and got it at an EB for 35 bucks a while back but generally expect to pay no less than 40 and as high as 70 for it. But it is very much worth it, Tactics Ogre is challenging (but no impossible like Hoshigami) and has a very non-linear story leading to many different main and sub endings based on decisions you make, party members attained and so on. If a story character dies, the game continues without them creating many interesting results.
Tactics Ogre for GBA is a side story which would set you back about 35 bucks and is probably in a few used sections in stores. I reccommend playing Tactics Ogre Let Us cling together (the playstation/super famicom one) first so that you can appreciate the ending of Tactics Ogre GBA.
Aside from Ebay you should try game rental shops and ask if they are willing to sell their copies, or get the Super Famicom Cartridge but you need to know loads of kanji to understand the game.

The only rental place around here went out of business crying so I'm forced to rely on eBay or EB games/Gamestop for new games 3nodding the GBA version I could get....but I need a new GBA sweatdrop
