Cedar Waxwing Setting off smoke-alarms since 2006 Kingdom: Animalia Phylum: Chordata Class: Aves Order: Passeriformes Family: Bombycillidae Genus: Bombycilla Species: B. cedrorumThe Cedar Waxwing ( Bombycilla cedrorum) is a member of the family Bombycillidae or waxwing family of passerine birds. It breeds in open wooded areas in North America, principally southern Canada and the northern United States. The Cedar Waxwing eats berries and sugary fruit year-round, with insects becoming an important part of the diet in the breeding season. Its fondness for the small cones of the Eastern Redcedar (a kind of juniper) gave this bird its common name. Birds in winter can be very confiding and will come into gardens for berry bushes and trees and to splash and drink from fountains or bird baths. Preferred habitat consists of trees at the edge of wooded areas, or "open" forests, especially those that provide access to berry sources as well as water. Waxwings are attracted to the sound of running water, and love to bathe and drink from shallow creeks. In urban or suburban environments, waxwings often favor parkland with well-spaced trees, golf courses, cemeteries, or other landscaping with well-spaced trees, bushes that provide berries, and a water source, including fountains or birdbaths, is always a big plus. The flight of waxwings is strong and direct, and the movement of the flock in flight resembles that of a small pale starling. The calls of these birds include very high-pitched whistles and buzzy trills often represented as see or sree. Cedar Waxwings are also known as the Southern Waxwing, Canada Robin, Cedar Bird, Cherry Bird, or Recellet. According to experts in the writing of Vladimir Nabokov, this species almost certainly inspired the made-up "Mexican waxwing" mentioned prominently in his novel Pale Fire. Waxwings are protected by US Law and may not be kept in captivity in that country. Smoke InhalationSmoke inhalation is the primary cause of death in victims of indoor fires. The smoke kills by a combination of thermal damage, poisoning and pulmonary irritation caused by carbon monoxide, hydrogen cyanide and other combustion products. Smoke particles are actually an aerosol (or mist) of solid particles or liquid droplets that are close to the ideal range of sizes for Mie scattering of visible light. This effect has been likened to three-dimensional textured privacy glass—the smoke cloud does not obstruct an image, but thoroughly scrambles it. Smoke from oxygen-deprived fires contains a significant amount of compounds that are flammable. A cloud of smoke, in contact with atmospheric oxygen, therefore has the potential of being ignited - either by another open flame in the area, or by its own temperature. This leads to effects like eg. backdraft and flashover. Many compounds of smoke from fires are highly toxic and/or irritant. The most dangerous is the carbon monoxide, leading to carbon monoxide poisoning, sometimes with supporting effect of hydrogen cyanide and phosgene. Smoke inhalation can therefore quickly lead to incapacitation and loss of consciousness.

Pyrrhuloxia Where there's smoke, there's... Quote: Conservation status: Least concern Scientific classificationKingdom: Animalia Phylum: Chordata Class: Aves Order: Passeriformes Family: Cardinalidae Genus: Cardinalis Species: C. sinuatus Binomial name Cardinalis sinuatus Bonaparte, 1838 The Pyrrhuloxia (Cardinalis sinuatus) is a medium-sized bird in the same genus as the Northern Cardinal and the Vermilion Cardinal. It is primarily a resident of Mexico, but can be found in the southern parts of the U.S. states of Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas. Its tongue-twisting name, pyrrhula, meaning crossbill, and loxia, meaning flame-colored, comes from Latin terms describing the shape of its bill and the color of its body; it has been occasionally suggested that a more appropriate name would be "Desert Cardinal". Burning
Execution by burning has a long history as a method of punishment for crimes such as treason and for other unpopular acts such as heresy and the putative practice of witchcraft (burning, however, was actually less common than hanging, pressing, or drowning as a punishment for witchcraft). For a number of reasons, this method of execution fell into disfavor among governments in the late 18th century; today, it is considered cruel and unusual punishment. The particular form of execution by burning in which the condemned is bound to a large stake is more commonly called burning at the stake.
Cause of death
If the fire was large (for instance, when a large number of prisoners were executed at the same time), death often came from the carbon monoxide poisoning before flames actually caused harm to the body. However, if the fire was small, the convict would burn for a few minutes in pain until death from heatstroke or loss of blood plasma. Typically, the executioner would arrange a pile of wood around the condemned's feet and calves, with supplementary small bundles of sticks and straw called faggots at strategic intervals up his/her body. Unless the authorities were particularly vindictive against a prisoner, family and friends could bring additional faggots to make the death more humane.
When applied with skillful cruelty, the prisoner's skin would burn progressively in the sequence: calves, thighs and hands, torso and forearms, breasts, upper chest, face; and then finally death. On other occasions, people died from suffocation with only their calves on fire. In many burnings a rope was attached to the convict's neck passing through a ring on the stake and they were simultaneously strangled and burnt. In later years in England, some burnings only took place after the convict had already hanged for a half-hour. In some Nordic and German burnings, convicts had containers of gunpowder tied to them or were tied to ladders and then swung into fully burning bonfires. A container of gunpowder tied at the neck might be used to bring about a quicker (and thus more merciful) death, since the victim would suffer only until the gunpowder was heated enough to explode. Some prisoners refused this.

Finesse A doormat with teeth? General Name: Finesse Grigori Nickname: 'nesse, Finny, Nessy Gender: Male Species: Human Date of Birth:Sign:Age: Mid-twenties Weight: Parents: Father: Missing Mother: (Pending) Siblings: No. General Appearance: Choice Clothing: Almost always wearing a black suit with black shirt, tie, and dress-shoes. As far as casual clothing goes, it all depends on just how drunk the man is. Flowing, solid-colored shirts made of soft materials seem to work best on him along with a pair of jeans or slacks. Usually his friends manage to keep him away from any tropical-print patterns, plaid, and just about any other lame thing he tries to pull on when he's not quite sober. Personality: Finesse is generally a cocky, laid-back individual among his friends, and enjoys the fellowship that his 'family' provides. However, he is quite serious when it comes to his job, and the things he is assigned get done as soon as possible even if it means setting aside his own personal desires. He is a fearless leader with good sense, making up for his lack of experience with tactic creativity and pure gutsy moves. Danger and action thrill him and though he may be sensitive to the limitations of his men and followers, he has little concern for his own well-being and goes diving fully into situations that could very well kill him a couple times over. Though he doesn't have any marks to remind him of those seemingly-inane moves, it is likely that when he does finally run out of luck or hesitates for a moment, it will be his last moment. The man has a soft spot for women and children (the latter of which is harder to see). Can be polite to even the most obnoxious women. Occupation: Mafia Personnel (Rank: Operations Supervisor/ Scout) Personal Likes: Parties (more like small celebrations with friends), women, kids, cooking, his job, his friends, Tsu, Ithai (for the most part) Dislikes: Disrespectful people, distractions, those who earn the mafia's anger, unpleasent surprises... Hobbies: Gambling, drinking, plotting, cooking(shhh) Best Friend: His GUN D< Worst Enemy:Sexuality: Straight Marital Status: Bachelor (technically) Lover: None Favorite Food: Pasta- lives on pasta e-o Favorite Drink:Favorite Color:Favorite Band:Favorite Music:Favorite Time:Favorite Place:Favorite Person:Favorite Game:Personal Hero:Least Favorite Food:Least Favorite Drink:Least Favorite Color:Least Favorite Music:Least Favorite Time:Least Favorite Place:History:

Tsunake Look, Mommy! That woman is trying to hug that man's neck with her hands! =D General Name: Tsunake Kiamoto Nickname: Tsu, Tsuki, Crazy Lady Gender: Female Species: Wyvern Demon Reincarnate Date of Birth:Sign:Age: Damned if you'll know. (Very old.) 21 in this body. Weight: Roughly 115 lbs Parents: Both demon parents are dead, the biological ones have been left behind without a second glance. Siblings: Not that she knows of. General Appearance: Choice Clothing: Anything loose and easy to move in. She also likes pretty things, like shirts or pants with intricate designs, so long as they don't cling to her too much. Tsu often has her hair swept back with a head band, but never pulled up. She dislikes having to dress up, even if she needs to go anywhere 'fancy', but she'll do it if she can't weasel her way out. Personality: Tsunake is actually a Wyvern, or, rather a reincarnate of one. Wyverns are known for being malicious and evil, through and through. Combined with the ranging emotions of a normal, human body, Tsunake has two sides. Her first half is just like that of a normal young woman's. Think of a slightly bitchy, moody lady with a temper like a fuse. She's not really mean, just blunt, and sometimes a bit cruel. At the same time, she can also be very nuturing, though its hidden with a cool, unconcerned outer shell. Tsunake is highly possessive of things that are hers, whether they be inanimate objects or pets. She's stubborn, though she does have her cheerful side. Tsu's quick to anger, though, and is prone to lashing out both physically and verbally. When angry, she tends to have a foul mouth--like, a seriously foul mouth. But, her moods change quickly, and it's highly unlikely for her to stay mad for a while. The second half, the Wyvern side, knows nothing but rage and hate. It knows no love, and takes pleasure in death itself. When this side surfaces, Tsunake becomes very cold, very aloof. She loathes any companionship, and lashes out at people without warning. This side drives her away from people--and the Wyvern itself occasionally manifests itself to wreck havoc. Thanfully, the beast finds it too much trouble to make itself known often, so meeting with it would be rare. With the combination of these two sides, Tsunake is a vicious mother who'll defend her child without hesitation. The damsal in distress types really make her irritable--seeing as she isn't one herself. She's definitely the dominant figure in the household. She won't back down to anyone, be it man or woman, so it's best not to get in a quarrel with her. Occupation: Various odd jobs...that's what she says. She gets an awful lot of money, though... Personal Likes: Her kids (-gasp-), Finesse, mauling things...mauling Finesse? Dislikes: People who whine, crowded places, betrayal, cats, damn squeaky toys. Hobbies: Thinking to herself, training, torture, filing those sharp nails... Best Friend: Worst Enemy:Sexuality: Straight (We think! -mauled-) Marital Status: ...Not married. Lover: DDDDD< Favorite Food: Souls. Anything edible, since she sucks at cooking. Favorite Drink: Water Favorite Color: Cool, pale colors. Anything that's not harsh on the eyes. Favorite Band:Favorite Music: Varies from soft rock to hard metal. Favorite Time: Dusk Favorite Place:Favorite Person: Favorite Game: Resident Evil Personal Hero: Least Favorite Food: Hot dogs. Least Favorite Drink: Least Favorite Color: Brown. Least Favorite Music: Classical music. Least Favorite Time: 12 PM. Least Favorite Place: Overly loud, crowded places. History:

Friends When the world is ours, you're entitled to a country and a gas mask <3 Shanuh: The odd man had been sheltering he and his brother along with many other Birds until Finesse and Tsunake came along. Finesse is wary of him, most likely annoyed after the guy promoted giving a dangerous animal to Tsunake. He was compliant enough to take the bird, though, wasn't he? Acquaintances Likely the result of a meeting from behind my guardian's pants leg
