1 Samuel 2:7
The LORD sends poverty and wealth; he humbles and he exalts.

Mark 12:44
They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything—all she had to live on."

1 Timothy 6:17
Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.

Matthew 6:19-21
Treasures in Heaven
19"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

I don't agree that God wants everyone to be wealthy, but I also don't believe he wants everyone to be poor. Jesus was friends with poor and rich alike. So when someone says God wants everyone to be wealthy, the above verses show otherwise. Not everyone will be wealthy and not everyone will be poor, but how do you serve God in your place in life? The bible teaches us that whatever we do- we do it as though we are serving Jesus himself.

I pretty much agree with you. God makes osme wealthy and then makes some [poor]. But in all honestly I also sometimes look at that stuff figuratively(sp) like how Jesus also parables. Because he mentioned in the bible it was easier to get a camel through the eye of a needle than for a wealthy person to get into heaven. (Don't remember the verse.) I'm not sure if I can explain but you have some poor people who are completely greedy, I mean I don't completely blame them but still...Some greedy. Then you have some rich people who give and give not hording(sp) their money at all. But that also works vice versa. I think some of it accounts in morals and whether you are wealthy in wordly standards and matter. Or are you wealthy in spiritual aspects and morals.

God will accept a wealthy person or a poor person, but you probably already knew that. I don't think money is evil, it is the love of money.

Also, if you are blessed by God and you prosper, you have to remeber that you have to be willing to give it all up when God says, like how Jesus told that guy to sell it all. When you have money, be willing to give it up when God says. Your treasure is in Heaven.

That is what I think at least.

Everyone, read Matthew chapter 10. That will explain everything. There isn't any need for this debate.

Again if they see it fit, yes there is. This comes down to how you understand the text and your beliefs. Not everyone sees it like you John (That's your name right?). So just because you don't see it as a needed debate, someone else might. Debates in themselves are pointless at the end, but someone might get a revelation from one or just learn something knew or a better way to understand the text, so this debate is as good as any other.

We also don't see much of a need to debate over Jesus the Christ being the only way because of all of the Bible verses that say he is, but we still debate about that sometimes.

Sorry, run-on sentence. xp

Everyone is meant for something different. Sometimes, people are meant to go out on a limb with no money and no place to stay. I went to an airshow once where that happened to us. We were provided with more than enough. We met an awesome welcoming family that gave us their house, their motor home, their food, their car, and their pool to use as we wished. We're now blessed to have a strong relationship with all of them and the ablilty to go see them and stay with them every year.

I believe God designed it so that some will be poor and have nothing so that they may trust in the Lord and be provided along the way. It takes a lot of faith, but the rewards are amazing. Some will be rich, that they may give up some of their riches to those that are going with nothing. I personally believe that I was meant to be the one that doesn't have a lot of money and just goes along how I go along. A good friend of mine thinks that he was meant to become a business man and be the backbone to missionaries like myself.

Everything depends on how you were designed.

I agree with Talitha. Being rich or poor doesn't matter in and of itself, it's how you use your situation. If you are poor, but that causes you to realize that there is more in this life than material possessions, and in so doing come to have great faith in the Lord, then you are going to be better off spiritually than a rich person who only thinks of himself and his money. On the other hand, a rich person who uses his resources to aid those who are less fortunate will be better off spiritually than a poor person who takes every opportunity to curse God for making him poor. It's not the situation that matters, it's how you handle it.
