Hiya! I figured I'd try something fun here, on the mailing list we use to do TMNT trivia, just for some fun. smile So here's a few trivia questions, take a crack at them and than add your own questions.

1. Who is Eastman and Laird?
2. What day and year did the first issue of TMNT come out?
3. How many weeks did it take before it sold out?
4. How many Toys came out in the first set Playmates released?
5. Who is Bonesteel?
6. Where is Krang from?
7. How many people did it take to make a Turtle come alive on the movies?
8. Who made the costumes for the third movie?
9. Who is Fugitoid?
10. How old were the TMNT in the first issue?

* just realized I didn't add any rules to this trivia thing... the only rules are is you answered the questions you get to do the next group of questions... though the person who was before you can not answer for three days to give everyone else a chance at answering first so it's not just the same two people doing this all the time.

Example: I asked the first questions, dburger answered and followed up with his own questions, I can not answer these questions for three days so everyone else has a chance to look at the questions and answer if they want.

Hey Ivey, I was just reading Image's TMNT # 15 (The one where Raphael is Shredder) and saw you wrote in the letters page! How many times have you been published altogether? That is a true honor... As I'm reading the comic, I say, "Hey, I know Donatello Ivey!" smile I wrote to the current Mirage Studios' comics about a month ago and hope my letter gets published!

As for trivia, hmm..... How about this:

1. How many total comics make up Mirage Studios' Volume 1 set of comics?
2. How many TMNT Image comics were printed?
3. How many Tales of the TMNT issues were there? (The old series)
4. Who is Kevin Eastman's wife? wink

Sorry for not responding to those long messages you wrote in both guilds, Ivey. I need to catch up and will respond when I get the chance.

Well I'm not sure, I'm going to have to go back and count them all. The first letter I ever wrote to a comic got published in Image #5, than I was like writting almost every other comic. It's really cool and was great to see my letters in there so much, with the new Mirage comics I've written one letter and it was published in issue #2 on the first letter page for the series. So that was pretty cool smile

dburger

As for trivia, hmm..... How about this:

Since no one else has taken a crack at this... I'll jump in.

dburger

1. How many total comics make up Mirage Studios' Volume 1 set of comics?

A wonderful set of 62 comics! With great story lines like Return to New York and City at War... "Make mine Mirage!"

dburger

2. How many TMNT Image comics were printed?

Sadly not enough... we were cut short with only 23 issues... drooling for more... to learn how Leo was suppose to get his hand back.. and many other loose ends never finished up. Gary enjoyed working on those comics.

dburger

3. How many Tales of the TMNT issues were there? (The old series)

Again a short lived series that really should of had more, with only Seven issues to share with us... and within those seven issues we meet some of the best characters LeatherHead, Rat King, and Nobody... smile The art and stories... wow were they awesome comics!

dburger

4. Who is Kevin Eastman's wife? wink

Oohhhh... the one and only, Six Foot one and worth the clime (at least according to her book!), Julie Strain Eastman! What a wonderful, nice lady... and if you didn't know before you met her what her day job was.. you would NEVER guess! She's so polite and friendly... I met her two times before I learned what she did for a living!!

dburger

Sorry for not responding to those long messages you wrote in both guilds, Ivey. I need to catch up and will respond when I get the chance.

Don't worry about it. smile I gotta play catch up with places too... had a busy weekend.

Ok, here's my questions for the group....

1. What was the first TMNT items to come out, that was not comic books?
2. Who was the female lizard in the TMNT cartoon, and what was the title of that ep?
3. What is Nobody's day time job?
4. What weapon did Michaelangelo have in Ninja Turtles: The Next Mutation?
5. What was Venus De'Milo's name before the guys started to call her Venus?

Bonus question:
Which two Turtles join the army and in what comic does this take place? *hint it was published by Mirage Studios*

Uh-oh, I think we have a winner! Ivey answered all 4 questions correctly! Mondo Awesome job dudette! (Now, I'm speaking like Mikey...)

I agree, Tales of the TMNT were my favorite comic series... one might say, even better than volume one! I have the whole seven-issue set and have read it through 3 times! It's sad that Image was cut short (and Dreamwave)... I would have liked to know what happens after those cliffhangers too.

Now, the questions!
1. I really don't know what came out first, perhaps early sketches of the TMNT? Vintage action figures?
2. I'm stumped... was it the original cartoon or the new?
3. I believe Nobody (before he changed), was a construction worker. I remember seeing him helping build the foundation of a structure in one of the Tales of the TMNT issues.
4. Pair of Nunchaku? His mouth? wink
5. "Babe?" , "female mutant turtle?" , "chick turtle?" blaugh
Bonus: I'm stumped.

Overall, I did a poor job on this trivia! I don't know everything about the TMNT!

Yeah... those short run series that came out... some could wonder where they could of went if they could of just kept going with them. Image... Tales... and Dreamwave... Dreamwave had some cool stuff even in ads for comics made that never came out...

I'm sorry... you didn't get any of those correct... the cartoon question is about the original series.... not the new series....

Oh reading those questions... the first question means

What was the first item to come out that wasn't a comic... but came out after the comic book did.... just so no one thinks that I'm saying something TMNT came out before the comic... cause the comic was the very first thing ever out.

Hah, just as I thought! xd Well, I look forward to hearing the answers if nobody else takes a shot at them. They're quite difficult, which is good; you learn something new! Still don't know what the first item to come out was...

Ok, here's my questions for the group....

1. What was the first TMNT items to come out, that was not comic books?

Iron-on T-shirts transfers done by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird.

IveyAngelo

2. Who was the female lizard in the TMNT cartoon, and what was the title of that ep?

Mona Lisa in "Raphael meets his Match" (thought this was an easy one since there was even a toy of her made, a lot of the fans I hang out with online really do enjoy this character. Including myself and I wish they used her in more eps.)

IveyAngelo

3. What is Nobody's day time job?

Nobody is a Police Officer when he's not in his crime fighting suite. As Raphael snapped at him once "So don't go throwin your badge in my face wh en you're wearing that suit your badge don't mean Jack!"

IveyAngelo

4. What weapon did Michaelangelo have in Ninja Turtles: The Next Mutation?

Tonfas. because they thought chucks were too dangerous of a weapon. And can be easy to hide, esp if you get the kind with the rope instead of the chain.

IveyAngelo

5. What was Venus De'Milo's name before the guys started to call her Venus?

Mei Pieh Chi, though when the Turtles met her Michaelangelo gave her the nick name Venus De'Milo (sadly though the original scene of her getting this nick name was cut, and she just seemed to except the name.. originally it took her awhile to get use too it, and infact would get mad when they'd call her Venus).

IveyAngelo

Bonus question:
Which two Turtles join the army and in what comic does this take place? *hint it was published by Mirage Studios*

Leonardo and Donatello joined the army by mistake, they got on the wrong bus and found themselves in boot camp. The title of this story is "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" starring Donatello and Leonardo in "You're in the Army Now" Story and Art by Bernie Shuman assisted by Danny Shuman."

This is a 14 page story that can be found "Turtle Soup" No. 1 printed in 1987. This is a black and white "Turtle Soup" book not to be confused with the later ones that came out in color.

Oooh, so many things I didn't know and just learned! I've seen the iron-on transfer advertisements in so many of the original comic books, but I wouldn't have ever guessed that they were the first to come out. You know what's interesting about the 'chucks? I read a commentary somewhere that stated in Great Britain, nunchakus were outlawed...they were considered too dangerous as you said. So I don't know if Mike wielded them in GB's cartoons and comics. I do know that they changed the name of "ninja turtles" to "hero turtles." Ninjas were thought of as violent, malevolent people and thus they changed the name. I'm still stumped on the other questions! xp

Oooh, so many things I didn't know and just learned!

Hehehe yeah, it's one of the reasons I like doing trivia areas you can learn a lot from this kind of stuff. There's some good TMNT trivia books out there, that were some major teachers for me back in the early day of my fandom.

dburger

I've seen the iron-on transfer advertisements in so many of the original comic books, but I wouldn't have ever guessed that they were the first to come out.

Well they were the first thing to come out after the comic, as I corrected myself up there... I didn't mean that it came out before the comic.. I just meant the first thing that followed it that wasn't another comic. The first ad for the iron-on transfers was in the back of the second printing of #1.

dburger

You know what's interesting about the 'chucks? I read a commentary somewhere that stated in Great Britain, nunchakus were outlawed...they were considered too dangerous as you said. Yes they did cut the chucks from their show, as did other countries as well. The show was edited they didn't nearly have as much Michaelangelo moments as we have. A good example of this is their trading card set, ours has 88 cards in the full set plus 11 stickers. In England they only had 66 cards. The ones that were cut, was Mikey with his chucks as a few others... maybe I'll do a post on that when I get the time, which cards were cut and what were on them.

The movie was also edited, to the point that they even took out the scene where Michaelangelo is spinning the chucks while ordering the pizza down in the sewer at the beginning of the movie. Though they just released the unedited version in England, they now call them Ninja Turtles over there, and they allow Mike to have his chucks now. So all is good.

Just for the topic... do you know in the first TMNT movie in Japan, they played it in English with Japanese subtitles... though few of the lines were dubbed over by US voice actors (some used the same voices that were in the movie, others didn't)... though the question about this is... In the Japanese version, where is the Foot Clan originally from?

dburger

I'm still stumped on the other questions! xp

Which question and why are you stumped, I gave the answers.. by the way do you want to give out the next batch of questions?

I see now... that makes sense because the comics must've come out first and the iron on transfers were offered in the comics. (like a catalog).

Ivey

Wow, they even cut out the Michelangelo cards in Great Britain? I bet you wouldn't have liked viewing the TMNT if you were living in England, because your favorite character is Mikey! It would still have been interesting to watch, I concur. It's good that they've changed the show back to the Ninja Turtles, and gave Mike his chucks!

Ivey

No, I didn't know that! Hah, good question! The Foot were originally a clan of ninjas in Japan from what I know...So the viewers of the TMNT movie in Japan should have felt right at home! xd Or am I wrong?

Ivey

Which question and why are you stumped, I gave the answers.. by the way do you want to give out the next batch of questions?

Ah, forget about the questions... I've read your answers and filled in the empty holes that I couldn't figure out. Either I never got to see the cartoon episode where the female lizard makes an appearance or I never knew Mei Pieh Chi was Venus's original name.

As for my questions...... well, give me a day or so to come up with some and I'll post them here. I'm warning you though, they'll be tough this time! xp
