TLAM is a two thread RP. You may jump across threads, for the sake of movement and the like. However, do not use thread reading to the advantage of knowing everything that is going on. You aren't omniscient.

Thread Specialties: The only limit in this thread is technology. Village, means village, not city, not town. Now, electricity does exist, but isn't grand. Guns also exist, but few are semi-automatic and nothing above. One important point, cameras do exist, as do printing presses (Have to expose myths somehow). This is the basis of technology, I'm sure you understand what I'm getting at.

Legend of the Land
In a place called Ki'Taal myths are plentiful as air. Many float about in the villages here. Some believe the myths, some don't, and some are the myths themselves. Those that are the myths, live from day to day trying to hide what they are and blend in, or lord their power over those that do believe in them, making themselves into idols that are either feared or revered. Those who believe in them, hunt for their proof or revel in their truth, and those that scoff them merely try to disprove them or belittle those who do believe. It truly is a divided world, this land of myths.

Why the division? Simple as the fraud that has been found in some cases. This only fuels the fire on both sides. Those who believe wish to prove without being traitorous to what it is they are believing. Those that don't merely want to end the madness they think is spreading over this all.

With the division come the splitting of the land. Many villages dot the land of Ki'Taal, but three in particular seem to be the culture centers of the three factions.

Fe'Laar
The village of Fe'Laar (fuh-lar) is the main community for those who believe themselves to be, or at least are trying to be myths. Of course, mixed in with this group are those that are the well known myths themselves. In this village is a strict law of coexistence. No harm to each other, no bringing of harm to the village. So called traitors to those of Fe'Laar, are either killed or simple banished. All depends on the threat level to the rest of the community.

Those from Sh'Kaar are often welcome here...provided they have the correct "credentials" to gain entrance. Those from Ko'Naar, are more often than not, killed or turned away.

He slowed down and watched carefully the descent of the sun. By the time they reached Fe'Laar, the moon was already rising into the sky. He set foot in his home village and only then did he relax. "We made it Cara. You're safe now."

She sighed with relief and said "Finally. I didn't think we were ever going to get out of Sh'Kaar." She pushed back the hood and allowed her ears to return to their normal position. She shivered lightly at the thought of what those drunks would have done to her and closed her eyes briefly.

Tyler felt the tremor and he pulled her into his arms, rubbing his hand along her back in a soothing caress. "I'm so sorry Cara but it was a necessary evil. Tipping her chin up to meet his gaze he looked down into her stormy dual colored eyes and said, "I didn't hurt you did I?"

She allowed him to try in his comfort, she usally did. Sometimes it hepled, other times she'd rather not have it. "No...I'm fine." Averting her eyes she pulled from him, creating distance as she wrapped her arms around herself, flexing her wings so that the claok fell to rest between them. "But it's alright now, right? We're back home and all."

He watched her a minute and kept himself from hugging her again. "Yeah, we're back home. Come on Cara let's go inside."

Ecara shrugged and pivoted on her heels, showing him a smile with a twitch of her ears. "No, I don't want to go back yet...come for a walk with me? Just around the village a bit? If you're too tired, you can head back home. But I'm just...going to hang out a bit more."

"Would it matter if you did?"

And there he was, not too far away, leaning against a wall. his eyes were on both of them, particularly the wolf-girl. he knew the rumors as well. Bond Child, whatever that was. but he smirked all the same at them.

"Cute girl there. and besides, your ploy worked, didn't it. a little pain I'm sure is a lot better than what might have happened."

A voice like someone who was choking on ash, but nothing at least yet..seemingly overly dangerous, despite the fact he was armed.

Tyler heard the voice and grabbed Cara before she could walk off. He didn't like what he had heard and there was no way in hell he was letting her go for a walk. Especially now. "Go inside Cara. Now." His voice was firm and brooked no argument though he knew she probably wouldn't listen to him.

Ecara raised an eyebrow at him and said, "In case you haven't noticed Tyler, I am independent and I want to go for a walk." So saying she let her ears swivel to catch everything that was said and started to walk off.

Tyler contained his anger and glared at the stranger. "You shut your mouth. Don't you dare speak about Cara like that. Stay away from her." His voice held a threat, barely concealed warning and alarm bells were ringing in his head. This was someone he'd never seen and very likely dangerous. Dammit. He glared once more at the stranger and hurried after Cara. Catching up to her, he grabbed her hand and said, "You know it would really help me if just once you actually listened to me without arguing."

"I-I'm sorry Tyler. I just...I can't go inside yet...too restless."

Insulted by that little kid? that got a smirk, and he moved over to them both, casually taking stride with them, wether the boy liked it or not.

"So Cara is your name?"

A small smile at her, and a arrogant glance to the boy.

"Judging from the stories I hear, and your looks..your the 'bond child' right? and what's a fine girl like you doing with some little boy like that? he belong to you?"

He didn't really know how to be tactful, but it didn't really matter to him. fights usually went his way anyhow. and those that knew the stories about what he was supposed to be sometimes didn't even bother to pick a fight.

Walking in stride with Cara, hands shoved in his pockets, all he could do was glare as the other fell into stride with them as well. He gritted his teeth, about to correct the b*****d.

"My name is Ecara thank you very much. No one by Tyler calls me Cara." A gesture to Tyler beside her. Then her ears betrayed the cool demeanor she was trying to play, pinning back slightly. "And also for your information, he's doesn't belong to me. He's my best friend and I'd appreciate it, if you wouldn't refer to us in such terms when you clearly have your information wrong."

Tyler gave a sharp crack of laughter. Leave it to Cara. He slung an arm around her shoulders, veering a little off and out of stride with their third wheel. "And I don't think you were invited on this walk."

"Wait I'm not done." Eyes back to thier guest. "And you, shouldn't you be off making appearances back in Sh'Kaar? I can smell it on you, you're that war god or something they all cower over or trip over each other to please. Pretty pathetic if you ask me."

He couldn't believe it. Tyler closed hsi eyes inwardly cursing to himself. She was starting a fight with this guy. "Cara...not here. You know better. Just let it go..." Tyler gave a gentle tug to her arm.

he laughed lightly, shaking his head.

"didn't mean any offense, really..Ecara. Just trying to be friendly. As to my..faithful..you're right, I am the War God they pine to. it's a great source of income, and free wine and food. can't beat that. better than playing the role of a whore while striding through town, I'd wager."

His eyes got a littler hard at that last comment from her, and a smirk in repsonse.

"Or maybe you enjoy it when you have to play that act. afterall, what is the saying..'best friends make the greatest lovers'?"

She wanted to be nasty and call him pathetic..he coudl be nasty right back.

Tyler stopped in his tracks and spun around glaring at the stranger. "If you had even a lick of sense you would take back what you just said and walk away right now. Cara is right you are pathetic. You have to hit on girls who obviously holds nothing but contempt for you." he was pissed now. "She is not and nor will she ever be a whore and if you wish to remain standing with dignity for fifteen more seconds I would shut up!" The comment about friends and lovers hit far too close to home and his hands clenched. "You have no idea what the hell you are talking about." He refused to listen while some b*****d tried to besmirch Cara's character and he would not stand for it. "Either leave or stand and fight." He drew one of his daggers and his eyes were ice blue and glittering with righteous fury.

Ecara rolled her eyes and walked in between them. She put a hand on Tyler's chest and pushed him back gently, "Stop it Tyler. You know we aren't allowed to fight." Her eyes scanned the streets to make sure no one heard and she grabbed his arm pulling him off. "We have more important things to do."
PostPosted: Sun May 29, 2005 9:29 pm

He drew his sword, the claymore far larger than Tyler's daggers, and it was still etched with past stains in places.

"Come on then boy. Want to fight? be all means come and get it. we'll see who's pathetic after I lay your wise a** down on the ground. here I am tryign to be nice and friendly, and I get insulted for it. you want to be nasty to me, I can be nasty right back."

Black eyes reguarded Tyler angrily. I mean for crying out loud he'd only tried to be firendly, just taking a walk with them, maybe some introductions, a friendly drink at a tavern or the like. and then he gets called pathetic and insulted for it.

Men. Men, men, men. They couldn't let things go, and actions were only drawing attention...which wasn't good if any of them were planning on staying here. So Ecara interposed herself between the two, and put on her own physical display for the feared war god. Her ears lowered into what could be considered a gesture of submission, and she let her wings slack some. Behind her, her hands grabbed Tyler's to keep him from doing the swinging he was being coaxed in to. "Forgive us. We've just had a rough night, right Tyler?" An elbow back.

"But-" Elbow. "Ack...right. Please excuse our rudeness. Young and foolish. We take offense too quickly." The words burned like acid on his tongue. He was only saying it because she was asking him too. Besides, Tyler hated seeing her ears like that. One thing she should never be was submissive, she had too much spirit for that.

Ecara felt Tyler's hands and arms relax up, and she let up her hold as well. They had to follow the rules here if they wanted to stay, they already stood out far to much, Tyler being a normal human and all. "Now...how can we, repay you for our rudeness, um...." She shook her head a little, obviously not grasping a name to go with him.
Tyler groaned. "Cara..." Couldn't' she just learn to walk away? But he sheathed his dagger and waited for an answer.

He watched..and looked between the two. She was making him back down. at least Ecara had some sense about her, and he resheathed his sword on his back. running his hand down his face, before a small smile.

"Name's Janus. I'd say nice to meet you, but it seems we've gotten off on a bad foot. Forgive my temper, it's as vibrant as the color of my hair sometimes. Why don't we all just go to the tavern, relax, have a drink and start over?"

He looked between the two of them, particularly at Tyler. he had no idea what he was about to get into had Ecara not intervened.

"I'll even buy."

Tyler didn't really want to but he didn't want to upset him even more and by default upset Cara as well. He nodded and said, "Nice to meet you Janus. I'm Tyler. We'd love to, right Cara?"

She nodded, her ears coming out of their submissive position and listening for anything else. She led the way to a tavern and walked inside Tyler at her side and waited for the stranger to follow.

He followed in shortly after they did, and motioned for them to find a place they were comfortable sitting at, while he went to the bar, quietly discussing something, which got a look thier way, but not much else...before going to the place they had chosen.

"So...what would you two like to have? This place has just about everything for any taste. Personally I prefer dark whiskey myself."

He waited to see what they wanted, though his eyes did roam a bit over Ecara, he couldn't help it..and gave a look to Tyler, sizing him up again, but this time more for a guess at how much the younger guy could drink. and he didn't think he coudl hold much..but he'd let them try thier own tastes.

Tyler merely led Ecara by the hand to the table they usually occupied when they made visits to the tavern. Sure they were still considered faily new, but they had at least laid thier claim to a table in the tavern. It was a start. "I'll have scotch...on the rocks."

"I'll just have what he's having." Didn't matter, she couldn't hold any alcohol no matter what the type or proof. Just couldn't. One ear flopped back in inquisitive fashion only to right itself and her eyes take an interest in Tyler. Better to look at him than to actualyl see Janus looking at her. She twitched her tail idly a bit.

He gave her half a grin and a pat to her ears. "Don't drink too much, you know how you are."
