He doesn't get enough love so I made a topic for everyones favoite Cheif of police!!!!!! He's awesome by second favorite character!!!! He saved Erik's life and helps to keep content (for the most part). I'm sad he was left out in the Musical and most recreatons of the famous novel! So lets give him love yay!!!! heart

I totallyagree!
I soo wish the Persian was in the movie/musical!!!
Although, you do get a taste of him, because they do sort of meld the Persian and Mme. Giry.

But, there is no one like the Persian!!

I would looooove a book-based movie to include everything. I was so mad when they cut Eponine from the Les Miserables movie (she was my favourite and kinda saves the story from being too dry). Then again, Victor Hugo has so much more in that book (its kinda 4 books in one) than in Phantom. I still wanna see the Persian. They cut out so many of the awesome characters when adapting stories, it makes me sad.

Raoul's older brother would be so awesome to see too. I don't think *he*'s ever been put in anything, but I could be wrong seeing as I've only seen a few versions of Phantom.

I've been thinking the same thing. Also, as much as I love the music by ALW, there would have to be a seprate soundtrack. I could write the music! (J/k)

But seriously, they need to make a book based one.

EDIT:!

they actually did make a book based one in the 80's.
It's by the guy who made the "freddy" movies.

I missed the Persian in the show and musical. He anded a lot of background to the Phantom. But the musical and movie completely change the Phantom's background anyway so I guess he was a nessasary cut to keep thier altered story flowing properly.

It is still a bummer. crying

Robert Englund played Erik, is that what you mean? That movie isn't any more book-based than the rest of them are. It's just called 'Gaston Leroux's Phantom of the Opera' because it's insane.

There was going to be a close-to-Leroux movie made in France last year, but production stalled and it seems to be dead now. Alas.

You forgot to mention the complete lack of Persian in said 80's film. I loved it anyway, I loved his outfit when he killed those dudes in the alley. It was a sexy version of the story, albeit completely ********: The book based one's death is sad.
