I found this because I love Matsuura Aya's perky songs. Apparently she's a member of this. But what the heck is it? Have all the cute female singers of Japan joined forces to take over the world and make it cute and pretty with happiness and pudding for all?

okay, let's see if i can define hello! project as quickly as i can. xd H!P is more informal than a record label, but really they're just a huge collection of soloists and groups, but they aren't really together like that typically. i'll get to that in a sec, though. >_> the first member of H!P was morning musume (large group... usually around a dozen girls, or so?). and there are soloists like matsuura aya. what they all have in common is a man named tsunku (he's the vocalist for the band SharanQ, maybe you've heard of that?). anyway, tsunku writes every song released by H!P members, and manages all the artists personally, i believe. there are quite a few groups. another thing they seem to have in common is that they rotate through people quite often. they're always adding people to groups, replacing people in groups, and often making soloists out of people who leave groups. they used to do "shuffle groups" every summer, which is pretty much that. most of the H!P soloists and groups shuffled into special combination units (greatly ranging in size) and usually released one single. one summer, the shuffle group was one huge group: H!P all stars. you can tell from that video who's in what (regular) group by what they're wearing, lol. and at the beginning they sing in the order they joined H!P.

it's really quite complicated, isn't it? xd try not to get addicted. there's no turning back. and stay away from the middle-aged men, probably like 75% of the people who are into H!P. gonk

I didn't realize Aiko was talking about Yaguchi Mari-san... I thought she was saying some slang meaning "The arrow of truth from your mouth". redface xd Gosh. What a misinterpretation. I'm so braindead tonight!!

Just to add a little bit of info, Morning Musume is auditioning for their 8th generation right now. The last added member was the only seventh generation, Kusumi Koharu. The number allowed in each year isn't set, at least I don't think so, since the number of additional members varied throughout the years. Most H!P soloists were once a part of Morning Musume (i.e. Maki Goto, Iida Kaori).

Yeah, the 8th generation auditions are finished the new member is Mitsui Aika!
