She was wandering around like a lost idiot, but she didn't care about what she looked like (for once) at the moment. She was actually searching for someone, but she doubted she would find him, for she knew not what he looked like. Her love interest had not offered any description of the sort for her to meet this stranger, but she knew that she would eventually meet him if she looked hard and long enough. At least, she thought so. She continued to do her looking and searching and finding. Maybe she'd run into him; she sure hoped so; she desperately wanted to meet him, this mysterious rival of Artemis Entreri's.

So this was the mare that Guenhwyvar told him about. The one that seemed to be spending a lot of time around Artemis Entreri lately. Guenhywvar was ever the huntress, able to spy with such skill as to not get caught. Of course, Guen could not hear everything that was said between the two but heard enough that this mare was curious about Drizzt. It wasn't hard to guess that she was searching for him. For what reason though.. the stallion did not know.

It was strange, imagining Entreri close to a female. Perhaps he was going soft in his years. It wasn't like he was ostracized like Drizzt, who found it impossible to have a relationship so never expected one. As long as he didn't expect one.. he wouldn't be disappointed. No, Entreri was different than Drizzt. He was accepted in places that Drizzt was not. He was accepted by Soquilis that Drizzt was not. Drizzt would never really fit into this world.

But Entreri was an evil creature. How would he really ever know how to treat a female? She'd probably end up hurt or abandoned with the dark alicorn tired of her. It wasn't like Entreri to make real bonds, he believed them to be a weakness, an reliability he despised. Perhaps indeed, Artemis Entreri was going soft.

Drizzt smirked. Entreri had spent far too long obsessed with fighting him, besting him. For all pretenses of being 'equal', though it was true in some ways as they could both fight with such skill.. it was always Drizzt who came out of the fight with the upperhand. And thus, it became Entreri's obsession to best him.

The Kalona sighed. Would it never end? Shaking his head, he walked out of the shadows of the trees and stepped in front of the curious mare. She wanted to find him so badly, who was he to disappoint her?

Just as she turned to find out the sudden noise in the area around her, out stepped one of the most handsome stallions Shimshek had ever seen. Well, in equality to Artemis Entreri, anyway; and he was one of the most handsome stallions around (well, one of few; but this stallion appeared to just break the record...). Following the stallion was an odd creature, one she had never seen. Her instinct told her to run on sight of the little creature, but she stood her ground.

"And how may I help you?" she asked, eyeing the stallion up and down. Mmm... nice body, and he was most definitely, well... her type. She sighed mentally to herself. Too bad she was in love with that dolt Entreri. If she wasn't, she'd have gone after this handsome fellow. "If you can, my handsome friend, would you mind telling me if you know of someone named Drizzt Do'Urden? I'm urgently looking for him. If you see him or find him, please tell him a mare named Shimshek is searching for him."

It was too bad she couldn't stay longer to flirt a bit with this stallion; but, she was in a hurry, and she had questions that need answers quick. Drizzt was the only other who even remotely knew a lot about Entreri, and she envied him a little--just a little--over that. Of course, she didn't envy being Entreri's rival... that was something entirely different. She stared at the little odd creature with mixed feelings of curiosity and fear. "Um... that little one won't... bite me or anything, right?"

Well, that confirmed the bits and pieces Guenhwyvar had overheard and Drizzt had to admit, it made him curious about the female. He had already assumed she was searching him out based on things she had heard from Entreri. Perhaps there was more to it as well. At first he considered it to be a trap but then resigned to the feeling that this mare was genuine. There was no ounce of recognition in her eyes and that kind of thing required years of skill to acquire. If it were a trap, she would have known what he looked like.

"I am Drizzt Do'Urden, M'lady", he admitted before lowering his head into a bow. "I admit, I came to you knowingly, caught wind from a friend that you were searching for me." Her flattery didn't phase him as he assumed such were compliments meant to coerce one into answering questions asked.

The friend in question growled at Shimshek from behind the Kalona. The panther didn't like anything that was close enough to converse with Entreri. She didn't trust the winged mare one bit.

Drizzt chuckled politely at the mare, as if apologizing for Guenhywvar rudeness. "Don't mind Guen, she's over-protective. She won't hurt you." The stallion paused for a moment before continuing, "Now that you know who I am, M'lady, and I know who you are, May I ask what your interests are in searching me out?" His lavender eyes twinkled with playfulness as if he could already guess where her curiousity came from but wanted to hear her say it all the same.

She blinked at him, stunned. "Ah, so you're Drizzt Do'Urden. It's too bad..." Entreri hadn't been kidding when he said Drizzt was the total opposite of him. Looking over at Guen nervously, she shifted her eyes, and then tried to return a smile to Drizzt. His eyes drew her in just as Entreri's did, and she found herself wondering about the difference between being in love and infactuation for a moment, and then shook her thought. "I guess my being involved with Entreri makes your friend distrustful of me... and with his personality, it makes sense." She rolled her eyes, and finally smiled a bit more at Drizzt. "What he said is true--you really are much kinder than him.

"I came to ask a couple of questions regarding your stubborn rival." She suppressed a nervous giggle, and continued. "You're the only one (I guess, aside from myself, but that's not saying much) who I know of (from the icicle himself) who knows him best. I wanted to understand him a bit better, but he's been uncooperative in that area, for he's been unwilling to speak about it. I asked him about your rivalry, and why he was so concerned and focused about... I suppose... besting you?" That was the only way she could put it, as Entreri always trained his body, and she knew he did it for some purpose, and she finally figured out that it was for challenging this handsome stallion before her. She stared at Drizzt a moment, and weighed her options.

Now that I've seen Drizzt, he's having me question my feelings... and he's not even trying to do that.

Guenhwyvar growled once more at the female for mistaking her own gender and decided to pounce off to give the two some privacy. She might not like the female but she adored her best friend and didn't want to make the situation more uncomfortable.

"To him, life is proving his worth, his skill. Proving that he's the best at whatever he does. And for the longest time, he was the best. No one stood a match to him, until he met me. Over the years, we have fought many times and in the end, I usually came out on top though sometimes barely. That was not something Entreri could handle well. No one, not even I, am the best fighter. We all have adversaries that will always be greater. There's no such thing as the best. Entreri has yet to learn that. Entreri has closed himself off to everything else life has to offer. Everything life was meant to offer. He simple doesn't realize what is there."

Though Drizzt was a dark and deadly fighter, he loved life and saw the beauty in all things. The sunrise would always be the most beautiful sight to him. Though he and Entreri had so much in common when it came to fighting, they really were complete opposites when it came to everything else.

"Shimshek," Drizzt started, hoping it was okay to use her name, "Though I am a Kalona and look like the creatures that know only evil and pain, I am nothing like my kind. I tell you this only to emphasize a point. Entreri is the same.. though he is an alicorn.. he is a deadly creature. Be careful around him, he will hurt a mare as easily as a stallion if it suits his goals. There's always hope for improvement and change in all living creatures, but it never hurts to use caution."

"How ironic that he himself assured me of him being so crude," she replied, a wry smile on her face. She watched as Guen vanished, and turned an apologetic smile to Drizzt. "I'm sorry, but is he a she? I'm not quite familiar with small... companions." She sighed, and stretched her wings big and wide, backing up and out of Drizzt's space, courtesy to him. She was feeling stiff. And annoyed, with herself and with Entreri. "I see. So I believe things will be more hectic should the two of you meet again?" She gave him another wry, but also sad, smile. "He was kind enough to warn me when last we met that he would do anything possible to beat you, including injuring, killing, or using myself to do so."

Her smile became a brilliant one of joy as he used her name. Entreri hadn't ever said her name like that. "So that's what your kind is called? Kalona? First I've ever met one... and I'm glad it was you." She narrowed her eyes at the sky, almost as if she was expecting a certain someone to dive down and call an attack... but of course not. "An alicorn he is, and a good-looking one at that. Unfortunately, I believe I dug myself into a hole, when I once flirted (well, somewhat seduced) with him, though he turned the tables on me, and now I'm stuck within this withering annoyance of love--though it could be an infactuation. I'm not sure anymore." She folded her wings close to herself again, and found herself eyeing his own wings. "You have a unique physique. Why is your kind called the Kalona?"

Her curiosity turned and blocked out the thought of Artemis Entreri. She was sure that he would use her against Drizzt someday, but she didn't want to think about it. If this was how things were, how could she (and possibly Drizzt, if he could convince the oaf) that life wasn't just about being the best? She wasn't sure, because Entreri was exactly how she used to be before she met certain different Soquilis who all taught her a unique way of looking at life... and now Drizzt Do'Urden himself, here, was also teaching her something new.

"Aye, Guenhwyvar is a female. She's as deadly as any panther though. She's the best friend I have and I'm lucky to have her as a companion." Drizzt and Guen have been a team for a very long time. They knew each other's habits and understood mannerisms without having to speak. "She distrusts you because of your acquaintanceship with Entreri."

Drizzt grinned, trying to lighten the mood, "If Entreri and I meet, we will fight. That is unavoidable because Entreri will have it no other way. But worry not, though we may get hurt in the fight, it will end like it always does, with no one truly the victor. It will be like this until one of us finally gets so old that we lose our touch. That will not be happening any time soon. As for using you, well, that has yet to be seen. He considers humanity a weakness but it's only a strength. I fight harder and better when there's someone that needs protecting."

The stallion spread open his wings, to show her the difference between her much more delicate feathered wings compared to his leathery bat-like wings with spikes portruding from it left and right. "I do not know why we are called Kalona, it's one of those things that predates back to long before you were born, and became such a natural thing that no one alive remembers when it started. Perhaps it's a name the two-leggers gave us and just stuck. Kalona are an evil race with a demonic tail, horns upon their head and bat like wings. They are completely evil. I don't know why I am different. Perhaps unlike them, I was actually born with a heart." Drizzt chuckled though it was an awkward conversation. "I have small spikes on the back of my legs though which no other Kalona has but I doubt that has any relevance to my being different overall."

Drizzt didn't know what to say about her declaration of loving Entreri. He had no experiences when it came to love. Never expected to have any experience with it. Most feared him because of how he looked and few took the time to see him as he really was. He wished the female luck though. Entreri would be a tough shell to crack. Another thing the two stallions had in common.

"When and if she returns, I send my apologies," she said sincerely. She smiled at the panther's description, and nodded. "I do not have any such good friend... and it's understandable to the reason she doesn't trust me, but I probably am a fool to think to trust Entreri, and so that is also understandable in her reasons. Perhaps I will attain one someday, but, like that oaf Artemis Entreri, I prefer to be alone... though, as a mare, I know I probably shouldn't."

She eyed him up and down, and returned his grin. "Is that so? I'm glad to hear that there's someone with sense around here. How many lessons have you taught yon rival of thine, but has never learned any of them, hm?" She stifled a laugh, and nodded at his explanation. "Humanity is both a weakness and a strength, if I'm allowed to express an opinion there." She smiled widely at his declaration of being able to fight better when there was someone to protect. What a gallant stallion. And if she hadn't already liked him, she liked him more now.

"I'm sorry if you feel awkward with this subject of your kind, but I have heard rumors that there are some who are similar to you, or at least, those that do give a care for others. But those are few." She decided that appearence didn't really matter. She used to care greatly that it did, but, after this meeting, she found that it was the person and not the looks that decided everything (oh, and throw in emotions; those helped too.) She noticed his sudden look of loss from her earlier declaration of love for Entreri, and chuckled.

"Ah, I seemed to have made the air more awkward. Forgive me; I tend to be blunt about things, and I have no fear of hiding what I think... at least, around those I trust." She silently (and ironically) agree with Drizzt about Entreri: a tough shell, a strong icicle, a boulder--all these things described him well. He'd be hard to break (not literally, mind!) and she sincerely hoped she could do it. She had already been turned away several times... she wasn't even sure if she could do it. She sighed hopelessly (helplessly?) and stared into the surrounding area.

"Of course you have an opinion," Drizzt chuckled. "I suppose there's strengths and weaknesses in all things. It just depends on how a situation is handled." This mare had a good head on her shoulders. Perhaps she saw something within Entreri that he could not. He hoped that was the case.

"No forgiveness necessary, there's just some things I have long given up on considering as a option in my life. Salt on wounds, I suppose. But I do not mind hearing the happiness of others, or the love they've might have found. That is what life is about. Finding things worth fighting for, worth trying for. Someone to share all things with. If you believe Entreri is the one, then you should pursue it." Drizzt took a step forward to stare into the mare's eyes. "If he hasn't killed you yet, he's not going to. Entreri would not waste time like that. He's a skilled killer and has no patience for such things. There's something about you that he must like, even a little, to prevent his instant attack of you. I don't know if it's enough for you to have some hope, but I hope that knowledge brings you some comfort."

She chuckled with him. "Yes. But perhaps that's what the case with my problem. I haven't a clue how to handle it anymore than you yourself would." She thought back to what had caught her interest in Entreri, and grinned widely at Drizzt. "I've a suggestion. If you two should ever meet--I know you two can talk while you both fight; I mean, every warrior throws insults to disrupt their enemy's concentration, no?--mention myself, and just question him over and over. Perhaps you'll find what I see in him... or perhaps you'll just find some amusement. Either way, the 'conversation' is bound to be interesting."

His next words brought tears to her eyes, and yet another, but broader, smile to her face. His purple eyes were... well, amazing. Who knew a Soquili could have such a color for their eyes? "I'll keep that to heart, Drizzt." She spoke solemnly (sp?), and blinked away the on-coming tears. "You are a gift, Drizzt, and don't think otherwise." She stifled a laugh. "If he hasn't killed me yet, maybe it's because, to him, I'm not even worth the kill, even to his credit of 'patience'. I hope your words be proved true, my friend--one, no, we, can only hope." His words had comforted her aching chest, and she was all the more grateful.

"We barely talk at all and when we do manage to, it is through fighting as we aren't ones to socialize. But we never talk too much. I prefer it that way. Concentration is key when in battle, distractions should be kept to a minimum." Drizzt eyes glazed over with some anger and he took a step back from the mare.

"I can't help but feel you are using me, m'lady. If Entreri and I are to fight, I see no reason to mention you. Doing so only achieves causes of your own, that I do not have any part in. I have my own life to live, Shimshek, and it's not meant to be spent catering to the needs of every female I come across. It's hardly fair to me, don't you think?" Drizzt couldn't help but feel used that this female wanted him to talk to Entreri on her behalf. Doesn't she realize that it would probably only piss Entreri off all the more? Why was she so persistant on playing with fire and using him to do so. Perhaps she was like all the others, afterall.

"I wish you the best with Entreri, but that is your own business. If he thought you weren't worth killing, then that means he believes you to be worth living. If Entreri things someone is just a waste of space, he'd kill them. He knows no remorse. So there must be something there, even if it's small. I shall not be used as a pawn, especially for my own enemies happiness. If he deserves such wonders, let him earn them. Have a good day." With that, Drizzt turned and took flight. He was angry, he was upset. He was hurt. He should just stay away from other soquilis. In the end, it wasn't him they were ever interested in knowing. It was something he could do for them.

Guenhywvar darted out of the woods and charged in the direction Drizzt had flown. She wasn't sure what was wrong but could sense it nonetheless.

She watched as he took off, frowning. She hadn't meant to come off as trying to use him, and she had never meant to hurt his feelings... but if he was such a warrior as he proclaimed, why worry over things like that? She had only suggested, right? She grimaced as the feeling of guilt began to ride over her. "Forgive me for insinuating a feeling, Drizzt Do'Urden," she murmured, watching as the stallion took off, followed soon after by the black panther--Guen, as she heard him call her--and turned to walk slowly and thought-provoked away.

"Don't emphasize such a title, if you plan to subtly insult said person," she continued, muttering to herself. "It's hardly fair, but who said life was fair?" She found herself especially irritated now. Well. Perhaps it was time she spent less idle time thinking about her idiotic romance induced feelings and more on just alone time. She needed a dreamless sleep, and she didn't want to think anymore. Stupid stallions. She spread her wings, and, running, lifted herself into the air. She had a lot of things to contemplate, but she pushed them to the back of her mind for later.
