Stages Album

Quote: This is the pebble stage, not much is known about your Skull Monkey besides its basic colouring and general activness. You can't discern the sex of your pebble, either. At this point you can also tell the general colouring, however, it's a bit strange...

Quote: Painfully shy and not very well spoken yet... this is the stage in their life where they cling to their owners/parents and siblings. This is your chance to teach them and instill proper values (before they hit the child stage and can no longer sit still anymore!). Much of this stage is spent sleeping... infants are like that, y'know. Also, they already have their skulls, but at this point the skulls are VERY fragile. In fact, they're completely dependant on their parents for protection. Their only self-defense mechanism is that they're unbearable adorable, and you can't put them down for a moment!

Adrian hummed to himself as he stepped through the door to his bedroom. He stepped around a couple of sleeping beings and flopped on his bed, careful to hold the blue skull monkey infant above his head so that he didn't land on it. He glanced around his room, thinking how small and cramped it was becoming, now that his family was growing. He decided he'd have to ask Kanth about a bigger room...
The skull monkey in his hands squirmed a bit in his sleep, and Adrian settled him more comfortably on his chest. Schye, the infant, had hatched so quickly that Adrian hadn't felt ready for it. He ran his hands across the blue and white fur, thinking of what he could do about a bigger place to live and how to raise all of these babies at once.
Schye squeeked a bit in his sleep, his eyes flickering open to stare at his guardian from behind the fragile white skull that covered his head. Adrian tilted his head to one side, regarding the baby thoughtfully. "What do you think, babe?" he asked, running his fingers over the skull.
This earned more squeaks in response and Schye made it to his feet shakily. He was still getting used to the weight of the skull, and hadn't quite perfected his balance yet. The infant flopped back down on Adrian's chest. The young man chuckled to himself, helping the monkey back to his feet and holding him up with his fingers under Schye's stomach. The infant wobbled a bit, putting a lot of his weight on Adrian's hands. By moving his tail, he finally found his balance, just standing there for a moment before cooing happily.
His guardian smiled, "There ya go..." He gently removed his fingers, letting Schye stand on his own. The monkey turned his head from side to side, wobbling a bit, but managed to stay upright. He used his tail to help counter his balance and attempted to take a step forward. He fell again, blinking cutely.
"Oh, well," Adrian grinned. "You'll have plenty of time to practice, later. Right now, it's time for bed." He picked up the infant and leaned over to place him in a small basket on the floor, lined with a light blue blanket. Each of his family members had their own basket to sleep in, and Scyhe was slowly becoming used to sleeping on his own. He curled up in his blanket and Adrian turned off his bedside light. "G'night, babes."
The Karlet family slept peacefully.

Schye wiggled about his basket restlessly, trying to stay asleep as long as possible. The humidity of the room was beginning to get to him, even though he'd managed to kick the blanket off of him. He was hot, sticky, and uncomfortable.
He finally opened his eyes and blinked at the room around him. His guardian was no where to be seen.
It was then that Schye became aware of a rumbling outside in the distance. He raised his head, looking at the sky through the window above him. The blue sky was beginning to become covered with dark grey clouds, and Schye tilted his head in curiousity. Unfortunately, this caused him to tip over and fall on his side.
He lay there for a few moments, watching the clouds move in. It soon began to rain, and gradually the rumbling became louder.
A bright flash outside the window lit up the room for a brief instant.
And then came the thunder.
Schye squealed in alarm at the boom that reverberated for miles around. In panic, he managed to crawl out of his basket and tumbled his way to the bedroom door. It was closed, but he was sure that Adrian must be behind it. Another flash of lightning was immediately followed by a clap of thunder. He cried out again, nudging the door with his skull. He didn't know how the door worked, but it didn't budge against his weight. He began pawing at it, squeaking pitifully as the storm raged outside.
One clap of thunder was close enough to shake the entire mansion.
Squealing, Schye ducked under Adrian's bed, pushing past the junk that the man had managed to shove underneath it. The skull monkey covered his ears with his paws and huddled in the dark, shaking.
It wasn't until a few minutes later that Adrian made it back to his room, soaking wet. He'd been out fishing and ended up getting caught in the storm. He considered it a miracle that he hadn't been hit by lightning. But then he wondered if anyone would chew him out for the mess he'd left behind him on his way through the house.
"Hey, babes," he greeted his other companions quickly, pulling his shirt over his head and flinching at the next clap of thunder. He glanced at Schye's basket, noticed it was empty, and looked around the room quickly. "Schye-chan?" He picked up a pile of dirty clothes, but the skull monkey wasn't there, nor was he in any of the other baskets, or on his bed.
"Schye-chan?" he called, getting down on his hands and knees to peer under the bed. He finally spotted the little creature, reaching for him and pulling him out.
Schye was still shaking as he clung to his guardian, hiding his face as Adrian pulled him to his chest.
"Heeey, whassa matter?" Adrian said as he stroked him, drops of water falling from his bangs. "It's just a thunderstorm. It can't hurt you while you're inside."
The blue monkey squeaked sadly as he looked up at Adrian.
"You don't have to be afraid," he said, placing the monkey on his bed despite Schye's clinging. Adrian removed his wet clothes and dried himself off with a towel before crawling under the covers and cuddling with Schye. "It's okay, Schye-chan," he assured him, "the storm will pass."
Schye wasn't so sure, but he clung to Adrian and tried to ignore the sound of the thunder outside. He finally fell asleep after the thunder had faded off into the distance, leaving behind the gentle sound of raindrops hitting the windowpanes.
