-Time had passed.. seemingly both slowly and quickly as life continued for the happy couple and the young one that rested safely within Shairi's plump pink belly.
They'd traveled a little to stave off her need, but when the time neared they found theirselves once again by the familar and beautiful ocean.. in the den in which the baby had been made so long ago.
They'd known for awhile now that only one babe rest inside her, and yet her stomach grew and grew as if she held many, a tribute to the special little one that rest inside. And for the past two days Shairi had been doing nothing more then eating like a starving hippo.. and sleeping the hours away. A soft routine that she worried might soon upset and worry her love.. but thankfully it seemed it would be over soon enough.
An uncomfortable and loud mewl escaped the cheetahess as her stomach and abdomen cramped tightly, rousing her from her sleep. Trying to curl the best she could with her swollen belly she tried to shy away the light of the day, soft worry settling upon her. Was something wrong? With the baby perhaps? A tangle of worried and unattached thoughts slipped over her in her half awake, half asleep state.-

Zimwi' had been worried about the great size of his mate and with only one cub inside her, he was worried about the size and health of the cub.
As usual he'd been hunting, however he'd also been looking out for any rogue males that might want to hurt his mate and unborn child.
He'd become the protective hero in just a matter of day's.
However, as the sharp mewl of his mate suddenly rang out, his ears perked up and he praticly leapt from his post where he had been fishing.
A trail of sparkling water droplets rushing behind him before falling to the ground as he quickly stuck his head into the den and looked over his mate with a worried expression.
"Shairi?" He started. "What is it? What's wrong?"

-Finally the cramping loosened, and she unfurled herself just in time for the familar voice to slip through the den, blue eyes searching gently for the silouette of Zimwi against the light.
And through the grogginess she offered a soft purr to try and comfort him, wincing when once again the cramping began to ebb on her belly.-
"I... I don't know actually..."
-She'd never witnessed childbirth before.. being an only child.. and traveling so much that she'd never made friends long enough to be their for their cubs. So all of it was new and confusing.. but atleast now she was awake.
Rolling to her side with a whimper and groan, she cast her eyes once more towards him, asking softly.- "A pain in my stomach and loins.. it almost feels like the little one is trying to push it's way out."
-Gasping softly as she tried to find a position that was comfortable to lay in.- "Do.. do.. you think it's time?"

The lion paused, eye's widening as he watched his mate be in such pain, however he'd heard of many times when female's gave birth they would feel such pain.
He gulped softly before moving in and gently nuzzling against her before moving to lay so he was behind her, comforting her through this as he watched every moment of this happening.
"I think so, love." He started softly, nuzzling against her neck as he tried to calm her.
"Just breath deeply."
The way Zimwi' acted, you'd almost swore he thought he was giving birth.
But still, this was a tense time for him, it wasn't every day you became a first time father.

-The comfort of his body as he lay down next to her, soothing her fears and simply being there was intense and brillant, and gently she returned his nuzzle, nodded softly at his words.
It wasn't so scary as long as she knew what was happening.. and having Zimwi there as well helped to stake the fears further, letting out a large huff of air as she took his advice. She'd just have to let Mother Nature and instinct be her guide.
As her belly cramped and pushed she shifted and turned within the soft sands until finally she found a position that didn't push so hard on her sore and taunt muscles, though her back stay continually pressed again Zimwi's side, refusing to leave the touch.
She drew in breaths again deep as he'd said feeling the muscles loosen before again they tightened and cramped, and she gritted her teeth. It DID feel as if the little one was pushing on her inside with each contraction... and though it wasn't the truth, simply muscles doing their job Shairi took it as a sign. If the little one wanted out so badly, then she needed to help it!
Gasping her breath in she pushed hard along with the contraction, feeling the soft shift of the cub as the contractions began to loosen again. Drawing deep breaths until the tightening crept upon her again, and she pushed until finally the tiny body was free of her, and she lay her head down tiredly.
Her stomach was on fire.. and the pain at her loins was indescribable.. and yet at the same time the contractions were fading and weakening.. no longer having the poor cub to push against, and slowly she tried to lift her front end, to see and retrieve the blessed bundle of life that was finally there.-

The air was cold!
Why was it so cold!? And why was the ground so gritty and always moving as she moved?
She didn't like it!
With the cub's first breath, she gave out a loud, mewling protest at this sudden change of atmosphere.
Wet, cold and blind, she wriggled against the sand trying to find the warmth that had once consumed her being.
Everything had happened so fast, but he was there for her.
Like he'd always be there for her.
However, as he felt the last contraction ripple through her being he looked down to her hind quarters and saw the wriggling little ball of pink fur.
And his eye's widened immensly at the sight and sound of his first child.
"...oh my God..." He said softly, through a choky voice before he moved and gently picked the cub up.
It was quite large, but still, was just this incredibly tiny baby.
And as he picked it up, he took the greatest of care settling it down next to it's mother.
Not taking care whether to check whether it was male or female.
Just happy none the less.
"Look at our beautiful baby..." He said, all choked up by the sound of it too.
She was touched!
Who was that? Was it mommy? Or daddy?
Her little limbs flailed slightly in mid air before she was placed back down of the ground...only this time she could feel warmth nearby and immediatly saught it out.
Bumping blindly into her mothers belly and giving a loud, annoyed mew before she found something.
It smelled nice.
She latched onto it with her toothless muzzle and started to drink the first piece of nourishment in her life.

-Her ears lifted to catch the pleased noises of her mate, feeling her heart flutter with euphoria as he spoke. And she couldn't help but thank the gods and stars when he did the task for her, lifting the babe and settling it beside her.
Beautiful! Pink like her! With ears and a face so like her. And yet large, a tail like her father.. and that beautiful trail of black touching the baby's little paws. She was absolutely, beautifully, wonderfully, perfect. And Shairi found herself at an absolute loss of words, instead letting a heavy purr rumble through her throat as she leaned in to clean the little, tongue taking delicate care to clean every last inch she could without pulling the babe from the teet she suckled at so hungrily.-

Zimwi'Jicho purred loudly, eyes watching on at his mate in the most proudest of manners, gently licking the top of his loves head before whispering against her lobe.
"Well done Shairi..."
He then continued to look on their new child, ears flattened back as his tail curled protectivley around his beautiful pink lady.
Only to move his head and gently sniff at the cub inbetween it's mother's grooming to check it's gender.
A smile, then beamed happily from his features.
"It's a girl."
And that said girl, was paying no attention to the mumbly voices around her.
Or the horribly blurred images that surrounded her.
For now, she was hungry and the wonderfully tasting stuff coming out from the warm, fluffy thing that she would soon call 'mommy' was the only thing that would satisfy that hunger.
The tiny creature giving off another, squeaky mew at the touch of both her mother and father.

-Laxing on her cleaning long enough to allow the father his soft affection and then inspection she simply grin as she watched him, murring happily.- "Thank you dearest, but I don't think I could have done it without you."
"I can hardly believe it's true.. It just all feels like a perfect dream.. and yet here she is.." -Her eyes settled on the cub for a long moment before finally they drifted again to Zimwi, joyful tears beginning to fall from those soft blue eyes.-
"I'm so happy! We're... so very very lucky." -Along with the little one it seemed a new life had been birthed for Shairi as well. One of responsibility.. and hope.. and an unbreakable love, both for her mate and this child.. who'd barely been in the world a few seconds. It seemed she'd loved her since the first time she felt the little heartbeat within her, and finally seeing the little one, and the wide possibilites of the future Shairi's tears only strengthed, curling around her little one as her mate curled about her. Quite certainly, for this moment alone atleast there was not a cheetah in the world happier then the candy colored female.-

The lion gave a contented smile, licking his mates cheek while he looked over their frail, tiny daughter that continued to nurse softly.
Only for a rumbling, soft purr to come from him, that smile looking like it would burst open his cheek's if it grew any larger while he lay beside his mate and glanced at her softly.
Now came for a different challenge, what would they name such a perfect and beautiful baby?
"Hey Shairi?" He started softly. "Would you like to name her or shall I?"
Meanwhile the little creature continued to give no heed, more interested in the taste of mothers milk as she curled against the warm, soft tummy fur of her.
What a soft world this place was...but it was still cold and gritty!!

-Letting him lick away the joyful tears, Shairi slowly calmed herself, falling into the soft purr that resonated from her mate. A name? It seemed a silly thing to not think about before.. but then.. they never knew what they would get.
Sighing blissful she shifted her eyes back to the little one gently, offered.- "I suppose whoever can come up with the most fitting of names should." -Tail curling to brush gently against him she cocked her head curiously, pondering over what would possibly work. It could be something based on her beautiful colors... or perhaps something to do with being a part of the two of them. A name was so important..- "Hmmmm"

The lion watched over both his two girls softly before giving a thoughtful rumble at what to call the little female, ears flattened back as his vibrant green orbs watched the wriggling ball of fur.
He then purred deeply before nuzzling against his mate's neck and continued to think.
"Hmmm...what about...Hidaya?" He asked, ears perked forward to see if his mate liked the name.
"It means beautiful."

"Hidaya.." -She tested the word softly on her melodic voice, before finally she nodded, nuzzling the top of her head into the underside of his chin.
Watching contentedly the little bundle of life, she couldn't help but laugh a little, casting her mate an apologetic and seemingly embarssed smile.- "You know.. I think I'm kind of tired again. Let's hope this little one sleeps as much as I do these days."

The male smiled at her approval only to very gently snuggle against her, his poor mate.
He could guess she was exhausted, he defied any other person not to be after pushing a little piece of their flesh and blood out.
At her laugh, his ears perked up and he smiled at the little embarassed look.
Ahh...those naive little expressions made him melt.
"Oh I think she will...but wait till she learns to walk..." He said, brows raising as he gave a playful smirk her way.

-She shyed away from his look, giggling just a little as she rest her head gently across one of his large paws.- "Well perhaps by then I'll be more energetic again."
-Reaching a candy colored paw to run over Hidaya's tiny back, she purred loudly.- "After all, by then she'll probably be beginning to eat what we do, and I'll have all my energy for trying to keep an eye on her."
