I have 4 animals 2 cats, 1 farrett and 1 dog lab mix His name is Tork.

Me and my b/f have a room mate. Get this he brings this girl home right and Tork Gets really excited when he sees new people who will pet him and love him heh and this girl as soon as she comes in the door she like freaks out and starts saying eww get that big thing away from me! I Just looked at the b/f like OH NO she just did not push my dog away! Being the protective mommy that I am I told him to come. And the next words out of my mouth was If you push my dog again I'm going to Push you right out of the house understand!
She Had no right what so ever to tread my dog like that all he wanted was her to pet him. You should have seen his face I felt soo bad! Lets just says she has not come back to my house. What do Somepeople have Agenst big dogs?

Some people are scared of big dogs. My mom is like that. She'd be terrified if a big dog came bounding up to her.

Its bad manners to let your dog just rush up to someone as soon as they enter the house. Let them decide if they want the dog jumping and slobbering all over them. My puppy isn't allowed to rush up to guests unless I know they like her. She goes in a sit-stay when new people or people who don't like her come over.

I agree with Savage. Some people are just afraid of dogs, and you have to respect that. If someone let their pet bird come flying up into my face, I probably would do something similar (I happen to be phobic of birds due to several nasty incidents when I was little). Actually, if a huge dog comes jumping up at me, my instinct is to knee the dog in the chest, because that dog clearly needs to learn manners. I don't care how loving and sweet that dog is; I do not tolerate rude behavior from people, and I don't tolerate it from dogs. Even when excited, my dogs come running up to me and sit or mill around my feet until I give them the body-signal that they are allowed to jump (because I do enjoy petting them and it's easier for me to bend dog that far if they're reaching up).

Oliver is not allowed to come up to new people unrestrained, since we're still working on his jumping and nipping manners. Even Mick, who is small with flawless people-manners, isn't allowed to go see newcomers unless we're positive that they aren't frightened of dogs (when strangers or new friends come to the house, dogs are crated till they leave). That policy has prevented a lot of bad feelings and upsets over the years. I suggest you work out a policy of warning when a visitor is coming to the house with your roommate so you can secure your dog, at least until he has had a chance to get used to the newcomer so he's not quite as excited.

if you have problems getting him to stay down? when ever he starts getting up on you go down to his level.

Don't knee him. Instead have him sit.

You shouldn't have let your dog run up to someone barking. People can very easily mistake intent.

Regardless of how small she was or is, she can still do damage. Your mailman didn't want to be bitten, and I dn't blame him.

If you knew how many dogs a mailman encounters and how often they get bitten, you'd understand why he used the pepper spray. If he gets bitten, he could be off work and lose pay, even have to have rabies shots if the dog isn't up to date.

Oh I know how you feel....people who are afraid of big dogs annoy me!

I do understand what the other people are saying...but really, he shoulda warned her before she came in that you had a dog, or something like that.

Some people are scared of big dogs, and it is not their fault. But that was pretty rude of her,she should have just said that she is afraid of big dogs.

Before people come into my house they are always warned that I have dogs ((small to large)). Lucky everyone I know likes dogs.

To be honest I would have said alot worse to anyone who pushed my dogs and if they bitched anymore about my babys they would have seen more then the back of my hand. sweatdrop ... one way trip to the hospitle more like.

well, she has issues mad poor puppy. twisted he shoulda' pissed on her shoe....*laughs* well she would deserve it.... lol hey I am only suggesting it. some people are like that to my poor dog.
in fact I took my Minature Schnauzer on a walk, might remind you, she is purebred from champions and I believe I trained her well.

so I take my dog for a walk, and she sees my friend Janaye, who she loves 'cause Janaye gives her bits of chicken for being a good dog.
So I'm skating with the leash in hand and give her a comand to go over there,on leash still. so she is there, Janaye pets her and she walks with me to see her step sister and step brothers and is playing with them and licking they'er hands. the jerk,(grrrr....I hate him so much) walks out, his name is Milo rolleyes so he walks out while mitsey is sitting in the grass and the kids are petting her. Milo says " if that mutt bites one of my kids, I'll get my rifile and shoot it!" surprised " yeah, just try it,jerk!" I say "if you shoot my dog your @$$ is grass! I'll call Mr. Herera,he likes this dog a-lot and you'll be out in a heartbeat!'' (Mr.herera is Janayes dad, the parents were reciently divorced Milo (grrr...) is the new bf of the mom) he gets mad, and says "I want that dog gone, now." so I say "goodbye Janaye it was a pleasure for mitsey to see you again, hopefully we can hang out on better terms sometime," I cast an evil glare at Milo, "well have a nice day, goodbye guys!" twisted Yeah , I was such a b***h that day.

well I suppose those things happen, just keep your cool, some people aren't as loving to animals as us.
