I had a abscess tooth, which hurt like hell since about wednesday last week. I stayed home from work on Friday, Sunday and Monday (other days I had off) because it hurt so damn much. I went to the clinic on Monday to get an antibiotic to help the infection, which started at $110, but we had the pharmacy fax the clinic so I could get something within my price range (I'm dirt poor). They said that was the only antibiotic that they felt would help me, so they cut the number of doses in half and I had my mom pay $50 for 4 days worth. I went to the dentist the next day (Yesterday+Tuesday), to have the evil tooth pulled. They took an x-ray and the doctor said that he didn't want to pull it because I was so young (20) and I wouldn't have much left to chew with. They gave us (Mom, Boyfriend, I) papers with the total of the tooth pulling (a little over a hunderd) and the total of the root canal ($1,500). I said I wanted my tooth pulled and the nurse said that the doctor didn't want to do that and if I still wanted that, that I woud have to go to another dentist. So I decided to have the root canal done because I wanted the pain to go away. I was so scared because the last time I had a root canal (4 yr), it was horribly painful and took 3 different appointments. But this new dentist was like amazing, I didn't feel anything--except my boyfriend squeezing the hell outta my foot (he was there for moral support watching), it appearently scared the hell outta him. Afterwards they took another x-ray to see if everything had gone as planned (I don't think they charged me for this, I didn't see it in the summary). I scheduled another appointment for Oct. 24 to finish the thing. Then one more appointment once I have the first half of it paid for, to put the cap on it and be finished.
