GOTP FAQ What IS A Ghost Of The Past?Ghosts of the past are people, normally of magical quality, who have died a horrible, painful, or wrongful death. Because of this, and the spell Matilda had cast so long ago, their soul was trapped in a wand, which related to them and their powers. As a result, they were trapped halfway between life and halfway between death until their wand was unearthed and brought to life.   In this case...
In this case the Ghost is a Gorgon(so you'd all better have left your shinies in the first post. you can retrieve them when you leave because I don't want this one rekilled before she's even been born) A gorgon is a magical being from Greek Mythology as you will find out in the next post.

  What Exactly is a gorgon?Wikipedia the Free Encyclopedia Gorgons are sometimes depicted as having wings of gold, brazen claws, and the tusks of boars. They even have fire coming out of their hands and they can steal powers from the gods. They are so strong they can kill anyone who stands in their way. They are the Queens of the underworld. The Gorgons can go anywhere they want and even look like humans. There is only one male Gorgon, Nanas, the guard of Zeus. According to the myths, seeing the face of a Gorgon turned the viewer to stone How can you make that into a playable character?
Simple. Limit the powers of the Gorgon in question so as not to god-mode over other players. If a Gorgon can 'steal' the powers of gods then limit it to such a thing as only being able to temporarily steal the powers and becoming more weak physically the strong the power is and the longer it is held. Doing things like that and weakening their natural abilities can make a gorgon just as nice to play of a character as others.
Are there any famous gorgons?
Yes. The most famous of them being Medusa and her two sisters Stheno and Eurayle.
I here there are conflicting reports about the snake hair thing
Yes. Yes there are. The story I found much more interesting and possibly more believeable for the snake-hair case was this one:Wiki According to Ovid (Metamorphoses), Medusa alone had serpents in her hair, and this was due to Athena (Roman Minerva) cursing her. Medusa had copulated with Poseidon (Roman Neptune), who was aroused by the golden color of Medusa's hair, in a temple of Athena. Athena therefore changed the enticing golden locks into serpents. However?
However, for this case as I had highly wanted to have a character with snakes for hair and couldn't actually have Medusa I am going with slightly creatively liscensed version of this theory Wiki Other sources claim that each of three Gorgon sisters, Stheno, Euryale, and Medusa had snakes for hair, and had the power to turn anyone who looked at them to stone.
The manner I am use creative liscense on it is to have it be that gorgons in general have snakes for hair. Forgive me for not using the more interesting and racey story. But I can't exactly take Medusa now can I so the cooler story is off limits.

Abilities:
Petrifaction: Petrifaction is the ability to turn things to stone or a stone like substance. With a gorgon, as with basilisks and other such creatures, this ability requires the petrified person to have looked upon the being’s face, or in this case directly into their eyes or the eyes of every snake in their hair. Demetra most likely will not fully have this ability until at least the kid or teenage stage. When her powers first start to show most likely she won’t be able to do more than freeze someone in place for a moment. Towards the end of her teenage stage she may have to learn to move blindfolded and possibly with a hat on at all times.
Flight: As gorgons are depicted with golden wings she may develop small wings upon her back. But flight will take much practice and effort as her wings themselves are of a heavy metal so she may have to start learning young.
Scratch/Claw: Gorgons are also depicted as having “brazen claws” so a scratching or clawing attack would be a given as she ages and they grow. Most likely she will either learn to cut her nails or deal with having claws. And as it takes a very special tool that most manicurists don’t have to clip nails of brass I’d say she’s gonna have to learn to deal with them. The same will go for the boar’s tusks she inherits due to her race.
Serpentine Control: Bearing snakes for hair, a gorgon would naturally need some control over the creatures, lest she get bitten whilst removing her hair from her eyes. So a slight control over serpentine beings but not enough to summon snakes at will. Just keep the ones around-and upon her- from becoming a nuisance.
Story
Feofynia was your average hellion some hundred thousand years ago. Born to sea-god spawn and living in the underworld, the snake-haired female led a pretty typical life. Her family was not of noble or particularly high social class. However, they made do in a society where monsters with who could kill with a glance were generally well accepted.
At the age of 200-a relatively youthful age for gorgons- she was allowed to assist in the guarding of one of the gates of hell. But, being young and naïve, she found herself easily distracted. Upon her wonderment that she could turn some of the water at the edge of the River Styx to stone if she concentrated on it hard enough she allowed a soul to escape. Unaware of her folly she went on with her playing. She did not return her gaze to its proper location till her elder sister noticed that she was slacking off and reprimanded her.
Many nights later the same thing happened once more. As it did every time the girl was on guard duty. The spirit in question had realized that she could escape and return before the souls were counted so long as Feofynia was distracted. The young gorgon, not knowing of how important it was to keep the spirits within the Underworld let her post go untended one time too many. The young spirit who escaped during her watch managed to find a way to possess the woman this spirit’s husband had been cheating on her with.
This young spirit was determined to make her former spouse pay for his infidelity and so possessing his lover she killed first his family and friends and then planned upon killing him. But due to still having feelings for the man she spent one last night with him. In the morning however she killed him and finally his lover, whom she had been possessing. She returned to the underworld as she had planned but not in time to not go unnoticed as missing.
Another guard caught her upon reentering the realm of the dead. She brought to the higher authorities so as to be tried for her crimes. The spirit was told that she would receive a lesser sentence were she to give the name of the one who had failed so horribly at guarding the gate through which she had escaped. With a wail the vengeful ghost gave the name Feofynia to those who then punished her cruelly for her deeds. Though she was not tortured as cruelly as she could have been the sentence she’d been given was not what she had bargained for. But the damage was done. The young guard was to be cast from her home and forced to live among mortals.
Feofynia, not knowing the true extent of her power, went to the realm of the mortals and wished to live peacefully, having failed at her first life. But when she turned all that looked upon her to stone she found that she could not do so. Living in a secluded cave the girl wept for some time. Until one day, a warrior from the village that Feofynia had slain with her gaze discovered what it was that had killed his family and friends. Traveling to a far city the man heard tell of a gorgon which had been slain by being shown her own face in a mirrored shield while she was beheaded.
Having sworn revenge upon the horrible beast the man had crafted a shield and lance that could do the job. The shield was made of purest gold and rounded in the front with smaller rounded studs around the silver edge so as to blind the beast however she chose to look at it. The lance as well was pure silver but did not have a thin handle beneath a widening base. Instead it was completely a long silver staff with a cruelly pointed end. For he intended to shove this blade so far through her heart that his hand would touch its center.
When the man arrived to fight her Feofynia was awake unlike the gorgon in the story the man had heard. Charging her, shield held high above him, he foolishly gave her time to move. But the woman saw her own horrid face and realized what it was that had killed those whom had seen her. Begging on her knees she swore that she would never harm another soul would the man only blind her. The man, hell-bent on killing her, did not listen and tried to stab the woman. But to aim properly at her heart he had to drop his shield, causing his eyes to meet with the gorgon’s deadly gaze.
When the man became stone at her feet Feofynia realized that only she would be able to complete this task. Taking the man’s lance from his hand and using the mirrored shield as a guide, she blinded herself. But now the woman, blind and confused had to find a way to survive. And so she wandered thus robbed of one of her most powerful assets. The gorgon found herself lost and alone in a world where she did not know how to survive. Being young in her years Feofynia had never learned to use her golden wings or to properly master her claws. Her gaze had been enough to protect her and it had been believed by those who raised her that it was all that she’d ever need.
But this blind beast still had sight in one fashion. The snakes in her hair guided her, giving her the knowledge of where she was and what sort of situation she was in. Surviving by hiding out and killing animals in the forests the monstrous woman thrived for another eleven hundred years. With a hope that her folly had been made up for, the woman tried to return to her birthplace.
However, what she did not know, was that just as her own eyes could, the gaze of her snakes, when focused as one, could do the same damage as her destroyed eyes. Wandering in the hopes of finding her way home the gorgon stumbled upon a large city. This city’s great sport was to cast beasts and monsters into the arena and force them to fight their champions. Within this city the bewildered Feofynia was captured and forced to do battle. The woman fought hard but knew she would die in this fight. In fear she willed her snakes to save her, as they were the only part of her not restrained. Concentrating as one upon the warrior whom was unlucky enough to be faced against her once again a human fell prey to the gorgon’s deadly power.
The citizens, enraged that their favorite champion had lost, grabbed their spears and pitchforks, knives and tools, to slay this horrid creature. Enraged by these people Feofynia freed herself from her bonds and fought them, slaughtering the entire city. The blood of these beings, even the innocent whom had been within the city’s gates, stained her flesh. Stumbling, in shock at her own actions Feofynia found herself once more at the gates that she had once guarded.
Begging for admittance into the place which was once her home, the blinded gorgon found herself in a horrid predicament. She had been charged to not return until she had been without a crime for over a millennium. Being as she had committed a crime barely 3 hours before she had violated the terms of her exile and was to be executed. And as the failed being’s serpentine covered head fell to the floor she cried out one last time, in shame and horror at the things she had done and the sightless eyes of the gorgon Feofynia shed a single tear of blood.

Wand
Demetra’s wand is to be a silver point ended wand with a small rounded shield on the end. The edge of the shield will be silver and matching the main wand part but the center and the small studs encircling it will be a golden bronze color. Around the wand should be wrapped what appears to be a red cobra with a golden underside and matching thin stripes. But on the end of the snake’s tail is a red and gold rattle. The serpent’s tail ought to appear behind the bottom half of the want and its head will be coming out a bit above and behind the shield part. The main part will have what looks like bloodstains going up the side, predominately on the pointed end.
Example:
Baby Ghost
In the baby ghost stage the ghost is mainly red with three thin golden stripes along it, spread out. Rouge won’t really get what that’s all about but she’ll have a feeling that it’s got something to do with how the snake on the wand looks.
Baby:
Hair: soft very loose curls that slightly resemble baby garden snakes
Hair Color: Red. Bright red
Eye Color: Honey Brown
Species Features: curls will resemble and sometimes move like baby snakes, strange bumps in mouth possibly for tusks that will grow later, rather pointy nails, and nubs on her back that will one day become wings
Clothing: A black T-shirt(most likely one of Rouge’s) with a red ribbon tied around the middle as a belt making a big bow in the back and sleeves that have been sown to be puffy and rufflly with red ribbons tied around the bottom. She will also have a little black ribbon in her hair with a bow tied on the side and little black Mary Janes with red bows on the front of them.
Job: to show Tandy that babies aren’t just for snuggling. Rouge gets that but her lover does not
Abilities: has very loud hissing cries
Likes: nice cool places, her snuggly snake pillow(its one of those spandex foam pillows) and being snuggled
Dislikes: Highly reflective objects, and pointy things
Personality: Quiet and sneaky but very easily frightened
Toddler
Hair: Longer and thicker, now a bit smoother and more lively. Will go a bit beneath her chin
Hair Color: Red but one thin gold highlight may be visible mixed in with the red ones
Eye Color: Still honey brown but its taking on some golden highlights
Species Features: curls seem a bit more life like and behave surprisingly well if treated gently(makes child tender-headed however) some sound can be heard from hair on occasion, tusks starting to poke through, very small and cause her mouth trouble sometimes, nails getting harder to trim, and nubs starting to horribly throb(poor thing will have a very sensitive back)
Clothing: A small black sleeveless dress, red ribbons sewn on, black converse high tops with red laces, and a black neck ribbon. Hair only has a black headband now
Job: Making Rouge more pleasant to be around
Abilities: hissing to scare things away if they frighten her, scratching at things somewhat
Likes: cool places, snake pillow(getting a little faded but still good) and being snuggled and given lots of attention
Dislikes: really reflective or bright objects and pointy things
Personality: getting a bit more rambunctious and likes to try and gum things. Very easily frightened still
Kid:
Hair: Much thicker now and smoother, seems a bit like its scaled at times. Extends to her shoulders and the curls are much looser.
Hair Color: Thin gold stripes mixing with the red are more evident.
Eye Color: Starting to take on a golden hue
Species Features: hair is starting to help choose how it is styled and nibble affectionately, teeth are out as well as large thick teeth where the bumps were-most likely beginning tusks-, very small gold wings have finally broken out of back-much to the discomfort of the little one- and are very sensitive as are the tusks. She’s definitely got claws forming, which if she’s throwing a tantrum she may use
Clothing: Taken to wearing a red black-shirt with holes cut out for her little wings, dark blue jeans, and a black bandana tied around the top of her hair. She’ll probably also be sporting some dirt on her hands and cheeks.
Job: Finding random objects that Rouge has lost and locating people for Rouge most especially Tandy
Abilities: can sense a bit better when she can’t see than she first did, tends to be able to make people stop for a few moments if she concentrates hard and stares them in the eye, can make hair move a bit at will
Likes: Her snake pillow(its got a patch on the belly and is a bit more faded now), nice cool places, following Rouge around, getting dirty, poking people, funny faces, playing games, digging in dirt
Dislikes: really hot places. She’s starting to get over her fear of reflective things but getting poked or cut still scares her. She’s a bit braver with it now though so she won’t scream half as loud.
Personality: Still a bit bitey and rammy she’s at least getting braver. Though she’s also getting a bit more temperamental and is having a lot of trouble sleeping.
Teen:
Hair: Now her snakes have settled into a set thickness and length, and extend in loose waves to about mid-back.
Hair Color: The golden stripes upon her serpentine hair are a bit more noticeable now and make the snakes look a bit more like the one on her wand. But the dominant color is still bright red.
Eye Color: She’s got flashing golden-honey eyes now and she’s having a blast lining them
Species Features: Her baby tusks have fallen out and now she’s got real ones grown, nice thick pointed ones, that give her a devilish grin. Her hair is definitely styling itself and making its own noises and on occasion even will eat what parts of her dinner she doesn’t want. Her wings are larger and heavier. It’s taking a bit of work but she’s learning to lift and work them enough to hover a bit higher off the ground and up to reach some things but she can’t get at the top shelf yet. Her claws seem to be getting painted or adorned with rhinestones now
Clothing: Its back to skirts for this little lady. Thigh high fishnets and high heeled stylish leather boots as well as a red leather dress with a short skirt and a zip-up front with a large black corduroy jacket she’s starting to get very fashion conscious. Her hair will be left down more often with a black beret featuring a large black feather sticking out from a diamond serpent broach on her head. She’s also never seen without her black leather purse in which she carries quite a lot including a handgun and she has round black shades which she tends to hold in her hand when she has to..
Job: She’s taken to being a waitress in the mess hall of the Samadueanna and wants to own her own café. But she’s also doing a bit of weapons training and learning how to operate the ship’s main guns.
Abilities: She can move around well when she can’t see and can freeze a person in place for a long while if she looks them directly in the eyes. She generally will wear sunglasses or clear contacts to prevent this.
Likes: Her snake pillow even though she won’t admit it(it’ll be a bit more worn and patched looking and still a bit faded and it may have a coffee stain on the belly) cooler weather, boys, coffee and eating small rodents. She’s not the prettiest girl on the planet but she likes to do well with what she’s got
Dislikes: Fish, getting cut, Mexican food, being on planes(she gets claustrophobic she says and will tend to lash out at people) and small dogs
Personality: she’s a bit more wild and brave now. She will get pierced or tattooed if she feels like it, loves caffeine, gets bored easily, and can’t live without her makeup. She also is seriously getting into trouble with Tandy who doesn’t like how wild the girl is. She’s also going to be very grouchy if bugged and startled easily. With her memories returning she’s taken to being wild to hide that she’s confused and afraid.
Youth
Hair: Her hair is generally like it was when she was a teen but she is starting to keep it up more
Hair Color: more golden stripes have appeared but they’re all still thin and the color is still red
Eye Color: Her golden eyes are no longer visible due to having to wear dark shades constantly.
Species Features: her eyes are now fully those of a gorgon and therefore they can’t be seen, her tusks stick out and stick out a bit now and tend to touch her lower lip. This makes for a very evil grin. Her wings are now much larger and heavier even though the golden feathers are becoming more feather-like. Her claws are harder and make it very interesting to get pointed at by her. And her hair is starting to need its own meals on a weekly basis.
Clothing: She’s getting a bit more business-y, wearing black slacks, matching stilettos and blazer which a red blouse underneath. But she still is always caring a cup of coffee and has on her sunglasses which are more practical looking now. Her hair will be up in a ponytail or down around her back.
Job: She’s taken up cooking and taking the drinks up to more important crew members(i.e. Rouge) as well as hosting and waitressing in the mess hall. She still intends to open her own coffee shop.
Abilities: Looking her directly in the eyes can now result in one becoming stoned(but not in the way people like) She can also petrify people with a controlled gaze from her hair regardless of how she is facing. Her ability to navigate sightlessly helps her a lot now and she can completely control her snakes as well as those in her direct vicinity.
Likes: as per usual she still likes her snake pillow(still a very worn pillow) and she’s taken to snacking on rodents. She’s also taken up gardening.
Dislikes: She is once more nervous around mirrors when she has her shades off and she still can’t stand pointy objects.
Personality: She’s still a bit wild and daring at times but usually she’s a very calm person. Easily startled as always she tends to be less interested in males and more into her work. With her memories returned she’s realizing the extent of her powers so she doesn’t carelessly leave her shades around anymore. But this also confuses and worries her quite a lot.
Adult
Hair: Her hair is now quite obviously snakes and eats when she’s not in the mood to. It’s a bit unnerving to her at times that she has to feed her hair but she’s pretty used to that by now.
Hair Color: Her hair’s an obvious mix of red and gold now and is getting to be something she’s proud of.
Eye Color: Her lovely golden eyes are able to be viewed safely once more and she’s not afraid to show them off
Species Features: Her wings are fully usable now, her snakes fully there, and her tusks have started pointing out a lot, her claws are sharp and ready for action, and she’s gotten control of her eyes. This is an adult gorgon ladies and gentlemen.
Clothing: The outfit style she wore in her youth remains however all but the blouse has become white as she accepts that red and black aren’t the only colors she can wear and will wear without looking bad. But she still likes jewelry and showing off her tattoos on occasion.
Job: With the help of her guardian she’s got her own café aboard the ship and its already begun to thrive. And she loves every minute of it even the stressful ones
Abilities: her blind navigation is amazing but unnecessary now that she can use her eyes. Now that she can control her ability to turn those she looks directly into the eyes to stone she and she can fly there’s really very little need for her to wear shades even at night.
Likes: eating small rodents, gardening, shopping, and running her café. And of course her snake pillow
Dislikes: getting stabbed with things-its uncomfortable for heaven’s sake!- people who’re rude to her customers, and the smell of fish
Personality: She’s a very calm and collected woman, happy with her new life and accepting of her past. She’s realized that the only way to make up for what she’s done is to just keep living and do the best that she can in this new life.
