Sticking his head out from under a giant fern, Timon blinks, then a slow grin spreads over his creamy-brown face. He wriggles out from underneath it, wiping his legs and sides clean of the soft loamy jungle soil. Then, bending down, he scurries past more foliage, his nose wriggling as he catches the scent of a particularly stinky dung-beetle.
((Whewps, wrong board. xD))

[ Hah! Here's something to claim the Southlands for! Let's drag a few rogues out of Mistweaver and dump them here wink ]
Laio prowled as best she could across the yellow grasslands that shimmered with heat, a reddish shape in the mid-day sun. Searching for a tree in this burning savannah land was difficult, and she silently yearned for water, thinking fruitlessly of the splashing pools of the land she had just left. Never mind; shewould explore further and further until she found some land to claim as her own. Wobbling slightly on her weary young paws, the cub moved further into the Southlands.

The wind teases the tips of the dry grasses, bending them in an elegant ripple--- except for one greyish mound that only wriggles unceremoniously in a little shiver. Yes, it's apparent that something is alive under there, well hidden in the grass and almost stock still, its head bowed down too far to be clear. What is it? A small prey animal, a small feline....? But that'd be silly. What would a lion be doing in this forsaken place?
(Short and sweet. xD *passes to Vashii~*)

Binti'Sokota padded through the grasslands, her tongue dangling almost comically from the side of her mouth. Lifting her proud head with an ingrained sort of arrogance, she sniffed the air, closing her eyes for one brief moment and enjoying the feeling of the slight breeze as it ruffled her fur. If only there were more high places, like back home... she thought idly, letting a breath out with a slight whuff. Something rustled the grass nearboy, and suddenly she was on the alert, every muscle in her small body tensed and ready for the hunt. Her lip lifted in a silent snarl hardly befitting of one so young, and her claws kneaded the dirt in anticipation. Seeing only a flash of greyish-beige, she pounced, claws extended and teeth bared.

"...!"
With a loud YOWL, and a thud, the unknown animal is shoved to the ground, those tiny but sharp claws meeting his flesh for a brief flash of pain. Curling up a little and breathing heavily on a blanket of bent grass is... another lion cub? Yes, a young male, roughly the same age as his aggressor now blinks two bright blue eyes up at her, his mouth parted in a small 'o' of surprise.
"... that stung," he says softly, ears flattened.

Binti, mercifully, had realized her mistake before thudding into the other cub, and so hadn't caused too much damage with her claws. "Well, what were you doing that made it so hard to see what you were, anyway? I assumed you were a small antelope or something...and I was hungry..." she retorted, clamboring off him and staring down at the cub before her curiously, somewhat taken aback by what she thought of as his "pretty" markings. Tilting her head slightly to the side, aquamarine eyes twinkled with mirth and she poked him gently with a paw. "And 'sides, I didn't hit ya that hard..." she said, ending on a grin. "I'm Binti. Who're you?" she asked, remembering manners a mother had tried so hard to instill in her...at least, somewhat.

He stands with a little cough as soon as he's able, shaking the dirt from his coat. She was right, the marks weren't even visable, and all that was left of the pain was a dull feeling akin to a pulled hair.
"I was looking at the rocks," he replies casually, a smooth smile spreading to his face. With a quick flip of his paw, he uncovers one of the stones that had been buried in the "attack", a shining piece. "There really isn't much else to do here, but I'm sure you know that.... Binti." He pronounces her name carefully. "You certainly know all about greeting a new friend." His words are a little teasing, and he dips his head, playfully.

Binti snorted, utterly unfazed by his oh-so-unsubtle teasing. "There's all sorts of stuff to do around here--so much to see, and to smell..." she trailed off a bit wistfully, then caught herself. "And we aren't friends of any sort...yet." she stated, narrowing her eyes suspiciously and delivering a n** to his shoulder. "Plus, you never did give me your name yet...."

"Essien," he breaths at the small n**, wincing a little. He wasn't quite used to rough play... the lionessess whom had raised him had been very mellow, and the males... he hadn't socialized with them.
"And there is nothing here," he continues, stepping back a little as if to give her a clearer view. "I've wandered here for days... there is nothing, no one." Those last words seem to sadden him a little. Had he been hoping to stumble upon someone?
"And... I'm a little hungry," he admits, smiling sheepishly.

"Essien, hmm?" she murmured thoughtfully, nodding her head. "How long has it been since you last ate?" she asked, suddenly all business as she eyed his ribs. "Personally, I'm glad to hear that there aren't other lions about..." she muttered, eyes hardening for a brief moment before going blank again. "Anyway, first things first, I think we need to find food...have you done any hunting at all since you got here?" she asked, sniffing the air as she waited for him to answer the barrage of questions she'd thrown at him.

And to all of that, Essien... blinks very slowly.
"You talk very fast," he notes, tilting his head,"and don't say much of anything." He sidles to the left a little, as if anticipating her retaliation. "I haven't eaten in a few days... I'm not a very good hunter. Someone's always done it for me..." Apparently, he hasn't been on his own too long. A single ear swivels back. Then, suddenly:
"But... you're a very small lioness!" His eyes widen, and he paws a small circle around her, looking her over. He... didn't notice before? Oh dear... "You can hunt!" His smile is bright now, open. "You'll help me, won't you?"

Binti narrowed her eyes. No, he didn't just assume... Tilting her head slightly to the side, she smiled menacingly. "First of all, insulting me was not very smart, if you're asking for help. Second, If we hunt, we hunt together. You'll never survive long on your own if you don't learn how to kill for yourself. Thirdly, I don't mind helping to teach YOU how to hunt, but part of the reason I'm on my own is that I am not going to wait on any one hand and foot...if I'm going to do all the work, it's going to be for me...got it?" she ended on a hiss, raking her claws irritatedly on a nearby rock.

Essien just watches her as she fumes, as calmly as he'd watch her do anything less emotional. He waits politely for a moment after she's finished, wincing yet against at the cruel sound of her claws to his ears.
"Well.. I don't plan on being alone..." he begins, then stops himself, starting anew. "What I mean to say is... you're right. I should learn to hunt at least decently for myself. I'm so helpless..." He turns his eyes up at her in a wide, cutesy sort of way; he didn't grow up amongst females without learning some tricks.
