These are the many halls in the Shadowdome that you go into between areas. Meetings can also be held in the halls.

Naara walked along the dimly lit hallway at a slow pace sighing. "Well you've got us all here Dassan.. What so you plan to do now?" He said to himself.

"I plan to get my fill..." Came a hiss from the nearest shadow. Before Naara could react A starved Dassan jumped on him and bit into his skin.
Naara uttered a "o" of surprise as blood splattered the walls. The only sounds after was the death drake devouring the man and his tail hissing in glee.

In a moment the only thing left of Naara, was his blood stained skeleten lying in the floor as Dassan left him. Full at last.

Alex was walking along the halls on her way up to Dassan's chamber. She may hate the man, and fear him, yes, but she had to get her son out of there. She didn't see it first, but her tail smelled it, the corpse that had been drug into the shadows. Her tail hissed and, as always, Alex turned to see what was wrong. All she saw were bones and the skin of a red tail . . . a peculiar shade of red . . . Naara's tail . . .

She covered her mouth in horror, not able to utter a sound in her complete shock. Her body moved automatically; she must retreive her son. Her mind wasn't even working; all she could think of was saving Raine.

In another corridor just slightly away from that scene, Draco was walking slowly down the walls. The corridors might have been dark, but his tail was aiding him quite well in seeing. This Dassan...just thinking his name put a bad taste in Draco's mouth. He narrowed his silver eyes and raked a hand through his hair, moving his locks away from his gaze. He had a bone to pick with this Death dragon, especially after what he did to Alex. His heart felt pained even as he thought of it. He felt like he hadn't seen her in ages.

His drake tail interrupted his thoughts, however, with a little chirp as he began to pass by a certain panel on the wall. He furrowed his brow a bit, pausing as he looked towards it. His tail's night vision allowed him to see a slightly raised part of it, something that most might walk by without a second thought. He moved tentatively towards it and touched it. The door that suddenly opened made him freeze. No. He wouldn't turn back now. Draco never turned back. He proceeded into the new corridor, perfectly aware of the door sliding shut almost silently behind him. Nothing was going to stop him, though. He continued down, down, down to Dassan's quarters.

Raine was finally into the hallway out of Dassan's room, Draco not far behind him. He stopped behind the staircase and leaned against the wall in exasperation. He closed his eyes and let his head rest against the wall, tatooed arm behind his back as if not being able to see it would make it no longer present, though he knew better. He was simply waiting for his father to snap . . .

As soon as Draco took a step out of Dassan's room and the door shut behind him, he whirled in front of Raine and stared at him angrily. "What have you been doing, talking with that...that beast? Does your mother know? What if you put Cassie in danger? You put yourself in danger!" The blond had begun pacing not too long after his first inquiry, and now looked as if he was trying to wear a hole in the floor. "What...what were you thinking?!"

Raine sighed. He had to figure out how to answer this without getting Draco mad at his mother.

I wandered in there as a baby; he didn't kill me. He held me and rocked me to sleep and gave me a Kerash before mom came in to 'rescue' me. He has never harmed me. he started, trying to get that point through.

I went back as a child; I didn't know any better, nor did I understand what he was. He taught me how to use my powers, and 'blessed' me with something to strengthen my powers but . . . I know know its true nature he said, his voice growing darker.

He threatened mother once. I fought him, and got him to snap out of it. He even took kindly to Rose Raine said, trying to get Draco to realize what he had long ago, that, despite what he wanted people to believe, that Dassan wasn't as evil as he thought he was.

Draco growled softly as he continued to pace, dashing a hand through his hair. What was with everyone seeming to believe that Dassan wasn't as bad as he was? Draco...he had seen what the Death dragon could do. He had seen the scars on his love's face. He had heard how Dassan threatened their entire race. And he knew exactly what that creature had destroyed. He rubbed his temples, his pacing slowing. Surely this Dassan had had an ulterior motive the entire time, acting kind to Raine just so that he could use him for his own selfish gain. It only made sense. It was how Skalis had been before Dassan.

And yet...his son was not one to lie. He paused in front of Raine, glancing over to him. Though his eyes were still quite hard, it was obvious that they had softened slightly. "You say...he rocked you to sleep? And yet he threatened your mother?" he asked in near disbelief. Something was strange about Dassan, and he wasn't ready to trust something like him. Perhaps he never would.

Raine sighed. This would be difficult to explain . . .

You see, Dad, there's two different Dassans . . . Dassan the person, and Dassan the tail . . . Dassan has always been kind to me . . . his tail bit him, re-infecting him with evil, so to speak, and mom happened to be there confronting him at that moment. I didn't want her hurt, so I accepted the challenge instead . . . he said, skipping over the rocking part a bit.

He really is kind . . . why he was so kind to me, I'm not quite sure . . . maybe because I was the first baby I had seen, maybe because I'm a shadow, like you. But . . . even after finding out who my parents were, he didn't start acting like you just saw him around me. I . . . I wish there were some way I could separate tail from body without killing him . . . he said, slumping into a sitting position. He wasn't even thinking about his own fate at the moment . . . he was more concerned with trying to reform Dassan . . . if that was possible. If Dassan turned around . . . would the part of Dassan's soul that Raine now bore bear the same transformation? It was worth a shot . . .

Draco shook his head a little, the pacing resuming soon after. When had his son become so caring? It seemed like just the other day, he had been a baby. And now...now he was an adult. When had he missed this? Still, now was not a time to think about that. Now was a time to get to the bottom of that. "Do you really think that something like that could happen?" he asked, not trying to sound stern or disbelieving, but simply curious. If such a thing could happen...then might they save the drake race from extinction through that?

Raine shrugged helplessly. He had no idea if it could happen or not. And, what if Dassan lost the tournament? What would happen to him then? What guarantee would they have that he would then leave the Drake race alone, or at least not chow down on them anymore.

I don't know . . . sounds like a question for Saria he said, knowing that his dad had learned quite a bit about Skalis from her.
PostPosted: Tue Oct 10, 2006 3:48 pm

Draco stopped once again, this time at the mention of Saria. Yes...he remembered Saria quite well. He had had a bit of a thing for her when he had first met her, and she was the one who had caused this whole thing to happen. Still, he couldn't help his head nearly snapping to stare at Raine with curious eyes. "...How do you know Saria?" he asked. If he had taken a moment to think about it, he would've known that the question was silly. Everyone seemed to know everyone in the drake community.

Raine looked up at his father, a mild expression of surprise in his eyes.

I don't know her personally, but I know of her Raine remarked. Aside from Dassan, he didn't really know anyone else and his . . . orientation . . . seemed to scare some away.

Draco took a moment of silence to think about this before he gently nodded. "She knows a lot about things like this, but I'm not sure where you can find her." Why he had reacted so strangely was lost on even him. Perhaps he was worried that his son would fall for her? Yes...he wasn't sure if he was ready to let go of Raine being young yet. He chided himself for reacting as he did. Of COURSE everyone knew of Saria...how silly he had acted.

Footsteps echoed down the hallway as Aiden approached. He had feared that his cousin was once again associating with Dassan and had come to do as his Aunt had begged him. Still, when he found Raine and Draco in the hallway, and Raine all grown up at that, he was mildly shocked. Despite his shock, he managed to hear Saria's name.

Saria? She and I were just walking up to the 'dome when I came to get the rascal away from Dassan he said, nodding at Raine, a severe look on his face, though not as chiding as before.

Raine offered only half a scowl at his cousin. If Aiden only knew what had been thrust upon him so recently . . .

I'll be in the fields he said before starting to walk off. His father could follow him if he wished; the fields was the closest approach to the 'dome anyway and where they were most likely to find Saria.
