Artists you think are overrated, on or off Gaia. If you wanna put me down on the list, go right ahead, this is for fun and MAD HONESTY SUCCESS TIME, we're all adults and we can take it. Okay, okay, yeah, it's for venting. Sith Lord AliMinimum 50k for avatar art. His work is not worth anything nearing that amount. It's clever of him to charge that much, though - he knows he can pull it because he's intensely popular.
Jhonen Vasquez. Maybe it's not really his fault that his disgusting fans completely hijack his s**t at every given opportunity, but I never found his style very appealing in the first place. Rob Liefeld. I know he's probably sort of a laughingstock in these parts, but lots of legitimate comic enthusiasts love the s**t out of the guy for no clear reason. Go. COME DEAD GUILD, RISE

WOAH BACK THAT s**t UP Y'ALL I work in a comic store. Nobody, that is: nobody likes liefeld. He's a laughingstock even among hardcore comic fans. I've got a few and I'll google up some examples: Greg Horn NO TALENT HACK SAY WHAT // This guy copies out of playboy and paints in details overtop. He even states this himself in his art-book. All of his art involves really good looking girls surrounded by objects that are out of perspective and proportion, usually even the lighting disagrees with the lighting on the girl. Yet this man gets jobs I want. Magic: the Gathering, D&D, Marvel... It makes me sick. Drew Posada See: Greg Horn // Same s**t, different "artist".

sorry guys it looks like my complaints are all made out of webcomics because... well, i don't talk about anything else these days, a little. a softer worldi hate photo comics so much these days and joey comeau is so pretentious that it makes me look like a kind and humble citizen also, basically almost everything on keenspot.com.

Plonky the Wondercat sorry guys it looks like my complaints are all made out of webcomics because... well, i don't talk about anything else these days, a little. a softer worldi hate photo comics so much these days and joey comeau is so pretentious that it makes me look like a kind and humble citizen also, basically almost everything on keenspot.com. Today's comic made me want to bulldoze his sparsely furnished loft. >:[

KlarIt's not that Klar is bad at what she does; it's that her style has not improved or progressed or offered anything new in the last few years I've been aware of her work. The sheer amount of fan-slobber and imitation directed at her possibly explains why she comes off as a fine, fine b***h.

Augh keenspot I very rarely do this, but when someone wanted me to order for them the keenspot print-comic I told them to stuff it. I am never going to help those ******** make money. Don't get me wrong, we stock basically anything that people want... but I drew the line there.

Don't get me wrong, we stock basically anything that people want... but I drew the line there. Have you every read High Fidelity? If you have, well, your store sounds like the comic equivalent of their record store. Up to you to decide whether that's a good or bad thing. And now, my input regarding the actual topic of thread (kinda): It's hard to develop a concept of overpriced when you're on gaia because your trading art for fake money (also known as nothing). You could consider the time it takes to gather up that much gold a kind of payment, but it just seems kind of silly because it takes time for the artist to produce the art. If art is sold on gaia at all, it should seem overpriced.

The only person who immediately comes to mind that isn't someone I know from the furry art community years ago (I've got stories, but I'll spare you) is old snapesnogger on DA. But I don't know how much she counts since every artist I know (and many I don't know, and people who aren't artists) is always hatin' whenever she comes up in discussion. Not that I disagree or anything, but 3 million pageviews. What the ********. I have to wonder if a good deal of those hits are just from people coming to gaze in horror. Also, those guys who paint giant slabs of meat and teeth and eyeballs on weird monsters and everything because I don't get that at all. Actually, what I don't get is why people attempt to imitate it. If it was just one guy painting raw steaks, okay, but there are these random steak painters all over the place. Painting steak. With teeth. A-with-a-teeth-a. Let the steak guy paint his steak and go paint something else.
