What are you talking about? I just read the manga! (If so, pick 'Subtitles' if you read the original manga and print off translations and 'Dubbing' for the manga that is already translated into English)

All right, here's a big question. What do you prefer? Subtitles (Original Japanese Voices with translations at the bottom) or Dubbing (English voices over the original).

I am a subtitles girl, through and through. Fushigi Yuugi is one of the worst dubbed animes I have ever heard (my opinion, don't kill me). Chichiri sounds like Mickey Mouse, Miaka and Yui sound like thirty year old women, Chiriko has a lisp, I can't even say how Tasuki sounded, only that it must have been TERRIBLE, since I totally blocked it out of my mind. Ever since I saw tiny clips of dubbed FY, I hated dubbing altogether.

I'm sure some, if not most of it, is all right, but I just can't stand it. Problems? I think so, since my sister prefers dubbing.

Uhhhh . . . all of the above? I am lazy, so dubbing works around 80% of the time. As long as it is not on American TV . . . they cut out too much of the show. I do have a substantial amount of subbed too- and that is great. I wish I understood Japanese, of course, but until I do, subbing will be there for me. 3nodding

It depends on the series. For stuff like FY and Slayers, the dub just sounds bad, so subbed is the way to go. On the other hand, you have Ranma1/2, InuYasha and Trigun, which have good dubs (speaking from experience, Ranma1/2 and Trigun both sound strange to me in Japanese. InuYasha is amusing dubbed into Spanish, but that's neither here nor there).

I like certain american voice casts that all came out around the same out of the same company (FY being one of them). In general I don't particularly care for dubs, it sounds too much like they're trying to play the character, whereas in the original, they are the character, no questions asked.

For myself...I have to go with Subtitled. Not so much about the voice castings and the like...as there are voices in each that if mix and matched would be my personal preference..as can surely be said by us all, i seriously doubt anyone would favor the exact casting of everyone in one venue or the other, but then maybe thats just me..anyway...I own most of the series on VHS dubbed...and then the entire thing on DVD which has both. And quite frankly, comparing the two, Subtitled is probably more accurate of a translation (From what Ive heard as the general rule) and the dubbed tapes have little bits and peices of humor taken out and little things like that. So I am all for Subtitles.

I must say that some animes do have okay dubbing... like Ranma 1/2 and Inuyasha... those are pretty good.. I used to watch dub, before I realized sub was better... but I mean, seriously, Tomo sounds like houdini.... How am I supposed to be terrified for the two lovebirds if I'm laughing my arse off!? His voice was the worst! And I can't live without hearing his evil cackle... same goes for Chichiri's "no da" and Hotohori's.. well.. his voice sucked... it was the actor who played Kuno in Ranma.. it works for Kuno, but for Hotohori, his voice SUCKS... and.. yeah, pretty much the rest is all repeats.....

*eyes go crossed in surprise, then downward as he tries to remember. Suddenly his eyes pop open in shock and a smile grows on his face* yeah . . . yeah! That IS Kuno!!! Good lord. It has been so long since I watched my Ranma 1/2 that I did not even realize the same actor was used! blaugh

I'm sorry but the dubbing made me cry crying , specially after I'd heard and gotten used to all their voices in subtitles. It's like u wanna here THOSE voices speaking english cause american dubbing SUCKS ROYALLY!!!!!!!! scream

I agree its really annoying when the dubbing is terrible, but in my opinon, subtitles are worse. No matter how much I love the anime, I get so bored and tired from reading subtitles. You also miss some of the picture because you were busy reading the subtitles. I would still watch it if that was the only option but I perfer the dubbed version. I do enjoy hearing japanese, but when my eyes see one thing and hear another, it just doesn't work for me.

Subs, definitely! The only Dubs I liked were cowboy bebop adn Gundam wing, and even then, they had their things I didn't like. I've never seen FG dubbed, and I don't want to.

*nod nod* I've always loved subtitles because of the fact that I hate it when they make the English voices terrible (usually, that is). But on Fushigi Yuugi the dubbing really isn't that bad. Of course, I'd still prefer subtitles.

Well, I also prefer the Subs to Dubs because the original voices portray the correct emotions that they wanted to communicate.

Liar! You always buy DVDs! That means you can set it to Subs, but you always watched Dubs!

I must admit, though, that the dubbing for Ranma 1/2 isn't that bad.
