"Hold still," Came the calm but irritated voice of the red head. Cold fingers reached out as he pulled up the surgeons mask on his partners face. "There you go," a smile, "Much better." Stepping back, the man then proceeded to pull up his own white mask which completed the doctor uniform he was wearing. It had been a struggle to get his black haired friend to go along with the plan, but in the end the other had submitted. It wasn't that his companion was opposed to the nurse costume, but he had gotten rather picky when it came to making the costume look a bit more gory. The look on his face, had suggested near death, when Colt took a handful of some red liquid and smeared it across the front of the dress.
"They won't be able to see your face now." Giving a quick nod, he then reached over and snagged the briefcase from the others hands. It would look more suspicious for Vid to be carrying the case. Even if it did look a bit out of place for him to be carrying it, the large bulky object would certainly be noticed in the hands of his companion. With one final look over, he turned and began to walk towards the large building looming before him. God, how he loved Halloween. A night for both great tricks and treats alike... maybe a little of both.
Vid glared, holding still as Colt lifted the face mask. The whole thing was absurd... This costume was for a woman. Okay so skirts for women, and he wore those due to his genealogy, but this was different! And this was in public. He could have used an illusion for pants, so why was he in a short Nurse skirt? On top of that Colt had wanted to splash dirty "blood" all over the white, even if it was Halloween that would never clean out. Tsh. Oh well, they were here now... And it was too late for him to whine his way into going back for something that wasn't completely embarrassing. "I can't believe you talked me into this." He muttered through the mask.
He sighed in defeat, work time now. He let the briefcase be taken away, a brief moment the back of his mind worried he was walking right into a trap, but that was quickly dismissed as paranoid and.. well, somehow he trusted Colt. He followed Colt straight into the building, not bothering to glance around, he simply slipped forward like he owned the place. And other than the fact he was a man in a nurse outfit, no one paid him much mind... The room was fairly busy anyways, people in, people out, candy, food.. All sorts of things. And his illusion was holding strong, replacing the long length of snake with simple human legs. All too easy, he beelined for the elevator... Either way the camera would catch them as soon as they started upwards, and the elevator was faster, and easy for the naga to escape. The lesser of two evils, in his experience. He pressed the roof button, then watched the numbers as they counted up. Pressing the boss' floor number would only send off big flaring lights of warning. The roof, not so much. He let Colt figure that out, or ask questions if he felt the need to.. but unless he needed to he was going to keep quiet. The earlier pouting was lost as all attention focused on work. But that's generally how the perfectionist was...
"I didn't talk you into anything." Came a muffled and miffed voice from the man walking in front. "You were going to come here anyway. I'm simply just making things easier," Even though it couldn't be seen, Colt was smiling underneath the white and red cotton of the mask covering his face. Despite his twisted fetishes and odd tastes, he had chosen tonight's costumes for very particular reasons. The first being that they didn't draw attention, this type of outfit was always popular with Halloween goers. Two, they allowed for them to keep most of their face hidden... less suspicious than masks, and they offered some protection. Three, with Vid dressed up as a woman, he had less of a chance being recognized. If security was on a look out for intruders, they would be searching for a man, not a woman.
Inside the elevator it was quite. The silence more imposing since only seconds ago they had been in a large noisy room. Now, this cramped, quiet space seemed to be so suffocating. A huff, Colt glanced over to Vid who had now pressed the button. The man looked nervous, nervous as could be. Vid had reason to be nervous though, work like this was always dangerous, the naga too could get seriously hurt, unlike the red head who miraculously could bounce right back from most disasters. Leaning over, Colt lightly touched Vid's shoulder. "Relax," he gave a casual pat on the shoulder and then reached down to tap the briefcase, "your set."
As the door dinged and then opened both found themselves a bit perplexed, "Remind me again the details..." Colt wanted to make sure he had this right.
Cramped and quiet was right, considering Vid's tail took up most of the area. At least he had coiled it for the most part. The illusion was still up for everyone else... Except Alan. But hopefully he wouldn't happen by any security cameras.. Just had to work fast. Mentally, he was running over the plans in his head. Timing it, every movement had to be perfect. And that wasn't just his perfectionist acting up, that was what jobs like these called for. That's why he was still alive.
He hadn't even noticed that he was getting tense until Colt leaned over, snapping his attention back. He gave a small nod, a brief smile... But it was fairly obvious he wasn't relaxing any time soon. Though that had helped calm his nerves a bit. There. Now. He hit the button, 26, the elevator stopped. He slid out almost immediately, turning to look back and wave Colt out. Faster... "Down this hall, to the office. Follow me. Get the briefcase ready, they probably already know we're here." D-corp was.. Efficient. He had his sources, he knew, and he'd been there before.
The hallway was dark, not set up for any visitors. Even so Vid went straight to it, as though he'd been there every day. Moles were good things. "Here." He pointed, then held out his hand expectantly. "We blow this up, then we get the files we need, blow the rest of the room up and.. Then get out."
Talk about uptight. The snake probably would have murdered anyone who dared to make a joke right now and that included Colt. Despite his nature to play, the man with fiery hair remained quiet. There was a time to joke and a time to be serious, now was the time to be serious. He nodded as he stepped out after Vid. He had to be careful, didn't want to step on the tail after all. That probably would have sent the snake into overdrive, hissing, spitting, not to mention cursing.... Oh, they would most certainly be found if they hadn't already discovered. Speaking of which, they probably had and as he stood there thinking this over in his head, they were already coming after him, right this second. Ah, the thrill of the hunt, it was on.
Vid seemed to have read his thoughts, for he repeated the exact same sentiments. As he stepped behind the snake, the man brought the briefcase towards his chest. Flick! went the latch, and soon the sound of contents being fumbled with was heard. No not that... that would make a big explosion. He needed something small. Something that he could get into the room with quickly enough, something that wouldn't send the place falling down. As much fun as that might be...
Getting down to his knees, the pair stopped at the locked door. A wire here, a wire there... it was hard not to break a sweat when you were under so much pressure. A bit more fumbling and... Colt practically lunged back when he stood up. Hands wrapped around Vid's shoulder turning him around as bits of the door were broken off. When it was quiet again he dared look. "....After you.."

Oh he would have. But maybe later, after the fact, Vid would realize just how good Colt had been. But right now he was completely focused at the moment, far too much to think about such things.
He waited, listened, felt the vibrations rippling across the floor. Seemed no one was here but them. His eyes moved down to watch Colt, oh good he knew what he was doing. He let him do it, simply keeping guard... This was much nicer, actually. No looking over your shoulder and worrying about messing wires. Before he knew it, the door had exploded and Colt had jerked him down away from the blast. Okay... A little warning would have been nice but that worked too. He was up in a flash, moving into the room and started gathering things. Said room was wide, two beds placed in the corner as a sort of living area. In the middle was a large desk, complete with a stack of four monitors and a computer for each. File-cabinets littered every free space of area. Several locked, as were all of the dwares on the desk with the same combination sort However there was defiantly a new aspect to the room.. Toys? He frowned at that, that was completely out of place. Did he have the right office? His head started running off on possibilities.
He dug into the file cabinets, frowning.. no. No. No. He didn't care about the parents! "See if you can find any information on the projects here. It's probably all on the computer but he's got to have some sort of backup somewhere." Time was ticking, they had to hurry! Techs were already on the alert and running straight for the office. Little did he know most of the techs were back by the security cameras freaking out about what to do with the two. One of which they had identified as the horrible man supposed to be dead, and the other as the assassin supposed to have been the one to do that. Not a good day.
Alan, had been downstairs, showing his respect by hanging around the parents, greeting, everything. Luckally for Vid he had been missed through the crowd. Talia was running around the safety of the building, or so Alan thought. Everything was going nice, Talia had gone off to fetch a Toy(Though he wasn't sure what was wrong with the ones she had on this floor), everyone was having fun... Until his emergency buzzer went off. Frowning, he lifted the object to his ear "What?" he spoke quickly, eyes widening as the voice spoke about someone breaking into his office. Automatically he was racing to the stairway and up, leaving the room bewildered and confused. "Stop them. Do something, anything!" With that the device was shoved back into a pocket as he ran up the stairs.
Unlike the snake, who rushed into the scene the other waited patiently. Yes, time was of the essence. But you had to clear your head, make the most of what you got. From inside the room the sound of crashing could be heard, along with the panting of a frantic 'nurse'. Slowly, Colt turned around and sauntered in. Setting the briefcase down, he stretched out and began to crack his knuckles. "We'll, your making a fine mess," His voice curled about the room, rather bemused. Of course he would help. But first things, first! Bending over the man opened the case once again. Cold fingers danced around the various objects. Side stepping wires and chemicals, they came to rest upon one--no two very useful objects. With the first tug, Colt removed his favored weapon from the jumble of other lethal objects. Bang, bang... ah how he had missed his old baby. Ever since that night with Vid, he had not gotten a chance to use it. Maybe tonight? If they weren't so lucky with escape, it would prove helpful.
Into the side pocket of his uniform went the cold steel, to make room for the piece of led pipe now in his hand. It was a more... primitive weapon, but one that worked well with out causing a scene. Just in case there happened to be anyone in this dingy little place... well, Colt would be ready. Stalking his way over to one of the cabinets the red head began to dig and snoop. Most of papers he was now throwing to the floor were pictures of people and children. Then birth cirtificates... divorce papers, over due library books.... why keep such useless crap on someone?
It was the creak at the door which sent Colt spinning on heal. Light from the hallway caught on the sliver of his pipe and piercings, sending a dazzling reflection into the eyes of the little girl whom now was peeping at them. Wait... a girl? Yes. There was no mistake, from the corner of the frame stood a small child. It wasn't like any child Colt had seen though. She looked like some bizarre drawing out of a picture book. Tentacles, gray or silverly hair. That's not to say she wasn't pretty, even at such a young age. "s**t," he tossed his head back at Vid, "Looks like we've been caught."
Pulling down his mask, Colt took a step towards her. Hey... he was good with kids, besides, the perfectionist busily working away couldn't be bothered. However, he would probably want some say in this...."What's your call?"
Vid ignored him for the most part, after all the job was his alone.. Colt was just along for the ride, so to speak. his fingers hit a familiar name labeling a folder... Colt? Colt's folder... He paused briefly at it, before taking it out and setting it on the desk, unlike the others he had carelessly tossed into a mess. If nothing else it made Alan's life more difficult. Picking up all those files and sorting them again. It'd certainly be horrible... Wait did that mean he had a folder too? He'd have to get it before they left. The files ended at the last C name, okay so this was cabinet A-C... Easy enough. What was the project called? Something encryptic. He moved to the next cabinet, just below the first. D-F, most likely. More folders went flying behind the Naga.
Talia had hurried down the hall once out of the elevator, straight to the room... However the door was slightly ajar, not usual. But a toddler brain didn't think 'oh life threatening situation!' It thought something simpler, Alan must have been in there. No one else went in the room, after all! So with thoughts of "daddy she hurried into the room... However, that was not daddy. It was two scary men messing daddy's room. She automatically frowned at them, paling to a near white color as Colt cussed and turned towards her. Not supposed to say those words! Her mind scolded him, but her mouth stayed shut. However, for the next No-No she didn't... Daddy's files were very important. "Not s'pose be in d'ose." She piped up, looking straight at Vid. Wow, she'd never said more than one word until that point... Daddy would sure be proud.
Vid's attention shot up no sooner than Colt had let a word slip from his lips. Eyes narrowed at.. A little girl? He followed Colt's actions, pulling his own mask down. Gears turned, before a large grin lit his face. Toys, second bed... This must be her room as well as Alan's. This couldn't have been better. "Is that so?" he casually mocked her words, in an almost sadistic fashion... She was one of the things he hated so much, an abomination really... And this was perhaps Vid's darker side, what with that grin and eerie voice that only caused the poor child to shrink back. "Catch her." He stated simply, to Colt's question. "I think she might be a valuable.. bartering chip." With that, he tossed another folder aside.

It seemed as if Vid was loosing his touch when it came to sensing others. Being his normal alert self, the snake would probably have been aware of Talia, much, much sooner. With his attention being wrapt up in the file searching, however, it was easy to see why he hadn't detected her. No matter..."Don't tease," Said Colt lightly frowning. Unlike Vid, who didn't seem to like children much, Colt found them wonderful. Next to Vid, they were the second best thing which brought hours of entertainment and unpredictability.
Finally the brain started working. Why was a little girl up here though? Looking around, eyes now adjusted the odd shapes on the floor as toys. Oh... you would have think he noticed those earlier, huh? He had walked in here so casually taking his time and all... but hadn't really bothered taking a good hard look. Getting down lower, Colt dropped the led pipe and shuffled his way over to the girl whom now seemed frozen with terror in the door. One half cooed at her, 'Awwh, poor thing' the other half though began thinking of her as a meal ticket. What ever the out come... this was going to be one hell of a show down.
Should one think that if Colt was going to go easy on her cause she was a child. They would be wrong. Giving the child the warmest smile he could, Colt reached out and took the girl by the hand--erm one of her hands? He did it fast, not giving her time to get away, but not scaring her either. "Hey, whats your name?" gentle tone in voice was heard, one much different from his usual pitches. Was this the Colt that Vid knew? ...Oh, it defiantly was. Hopefully the child wouldn't struggle much. Mr. evil creepy dead guy may have liked the little brats, but that didn't mean he was opposed to using force when necessary. Force being, a deadly kiss.
It wasn't that he didn't like children, it was that he didn't like these children. What was she anyways? Some sort of sea creature.. That made it all the worse. There were very few sea creatures that got to stay with parents, and whatever she was... It wasn't one of those creatures. It was a personal thing he had against some of the children, as if they were just living wrong. Which wasn't really their fault, but he hadn't hit that epiphany yet. He did fall into silence at Colt's stab, watching as Colt handled the child, he drew his attention back to the folders.
Talia looked between the two, turning just as white as she could in a natural defense mechanism. They were scary! The woman shuffling through daddy's folder's especially. She cringed and tried to draw back as he suddenly grabbed hold of her hand, tentacles wrapping around the man's wrist to try and pull him off. But toddler strength vrs undead strength wasn't even a match. She was caught, letting out a small whine as she continue to pull. Name? She stilled at that... She wasn't supposed to be with strangers, her mind tisked. But she wasn't outside, she was in daddy's office. Safe, right? "Talia." She loosened the tentacles shyly, swallowing hard. Maybe this man wasn't so scary.
Alan huffed as he made it up the last step, All of the guard techs were down stairs... Outside. Dammit why had no one caught this?! He had covered everything! He slammed through the door, shoes squeaking in protest as he raced down the hallway. His office door, open, and... Talia?! His heart froze in his chest, she had gone up to get her toy, and now... Crap.
"Someone's coming." Vid noted, not looking up. It was faint but defiantly more noticeable then a soft jelly child's padding. That and after Talia popping out of nowhere he was making sure to pay closer attention to the floor. Next file-cabinet.
It was as if the two had reversed the usual roles when it came to this child. Vid, the normally empathetic one had grown bitter, almost evil towards the thing near the door. Colt on the other hand, was rather warm and welcoming. Ah, kids, one could never tell what sort of trouble they would bring. Especially this kid, she was special, being the boss' daughter and all. Poor things... wasn't their fault they were created.
Colt didn't tighten his grip when Taila looked as if she might run. Nor did he freak out or squeeze back when her tentacles slipped around his hands and arms. He expected her to be nervous. After all, if he were her age, his present self would probably scare his younger self. The thing which surprised him though was her touch. From looking at her, Colt had imagined that she would feel slimy and cool to the touch, however, she was just the opposite. Extra proof that these creatures were more human than animal. They were just like you and me, except, perhaps, they could fly or breath underwater.
Excellent, the question had calmed her down a bit. Now to keep with the talk and soothing questions. "Talia... my, my, that's a pretty name." He smiled softly, not one of his toothy grins, but something much kinder. "Now lets see... It's Halloween, and what are you supposed to be? No matter, it would be cruel to give such a sweet girl tricks and not candy." At this he winked and slowly began to pull Talia into the room with him. It was a horrible lie, there was no candy for her. (There actual was a piece or two in his pocket, being the sugar fiend he was... but hell if she would be getting it and not him!) Colt did have a plan, though. Back towards the suit case he inched on his knees, having bent down earlier to be on her level. At last bumping into the cumbersome object on the floor, he lifted his finger, "Got to close your eyes now though, otherwise its not going to be a surprise... you do like surprises don't you? Yea--no?"
Turning around he quickly mumbled to Vid, "Then I suggest you find what your looking for and fast." Moving back, the man peeked to see if Talia had shut her eyes or not. He hoped so... if not there was going to be a lot of kicking, screaming, and possibly hair pulling. Ew... he shivered at the thought.
Talia was unable to suppress a timid grin when he complimented her, nodding a small thank you. Hestiatntly, she was pulled into the room. Candy? Candy was nice.. But there was plenty of candy downstairs. "Princess." she answered simply, falling into silence as the man easily pulled the subseptable toddler in with careful words. Maybe if she had been outside she would have already ran off, run off as soon as she saw them like Alan had warned. But this was in the safety of Daddy's office, and where she pretty much lived. No one had ever covered the 'don't follow the man offering candy into your dad's office.' lecture. Oh a surprise? She nodded, shutting her eyes. Couldn't ruin a surprise now could she?
Vid ignored the scene before him, though it was a tad strange that Colt would be acting so surgery sweet, but he had more important things to focus on. By now he was nearing the end of alphabetical folders, T-V... He paused momentarily to pull out his folder, my my how had he suspected that would be there? That was placed atop Colt's, and more folders flew... W-Z... Nothing. Damn it. All the folder cabinets were completely empty now, so with out much more to look for he started digging through personal things. Behind family photos, thoroughly inspecting the desk then the mattress, just in time to peer up and catch sight of Alan entering the doorway, Colt already having his hold on Talia.
Alan reached the doorway an eternity later from the stairway, only a few seconds really... But to the panicked father that was all too long. Now he might have frozen upon seeing his daughter held captive if he were any other father. But he was Alan, and as such had whipped out a gun from a hidden holster under the lab coat. It gave a click as it pointed directly at the red head holding his daughter. Eyes briefly flickered to the naga, then back to Colt. Okay, one of them should be dead, but ignoring that for the moment. "Let go of Talia!" He commanded, as though that would actually work. He did have a gun, though...
Vid grinned slightly, continuing to shuffle through the room's belongings. Normally by now he would have had to retreat, set a bomb up under the desk and hoped Alan got caught in it. But that was the plan before he had gotten the upper hand. And he had been right, Talia was now just another poker chip in a very delicate game.
Ah, princess. Colt should have known. It was every little girls favorite costume, but with the things kids wore these days, it was hard to tell what the outfit really was. Adults had to be careful about the comments they made, one wrong costume guess could kill such a small spirit! That would simply be tragic now. Not to mention how it would weigh on you for the rest of your life that you ruined Halloween for them. Hell, it was usual kids like that whom grew up to be your serial killers and psycho paths. Colt didn't want to be responsible for that, uh-uh... no thank you sir. But speaking of killing small spirits---

With Talia's eyes now shut, Colt could indeed give the small child a surprise. One hand wrapped behind her head, pulling the little girls face into his where lips met and he administered a sweet little kiss. Awh, now don't give me that look. The look that says I'm a horrible person. Children were different than adults, she was still growing, as was her soul. It was one of those nifty little things that Colt knew. One of the few nifty little things he knew. Fast, efficient and quick, Colt extracted just enough to send her away dazed to lala land. She would be fine after this,....erm, mostly fine anyway.... whatever that meant. Whatever, what he was doing was no worse than a mother or father giving their sick child dimetapp. That stuff was bad for them you know? Shoving them full of drugs every night, so that they would sleep better.
Amazing timing, the shinigami pulled away just as Alan loomed in the doorway. Ops-s**t--he was supposed to be leaving the girl alone but Taila being wobbly and all. A swift catch in his arms, and Colt cradled her into the nook formed by his shoulder and arm. He could let her go, but it would be cruel to let her hit the floor. Then again the gun.... what was the worse Alan could do, though? ********, yes, bullets did sting and enough of them could cause some serious harm, but how else were they supposed to get out of here? It looked like a poor situation indeed.
Eyes narrowing, Colt glanced back at his partner. Damn it, slow bugger wasn't he? 'Think of something' was the mental message he sent to Vid.
And oh yes, what a crushing blow that would be. To mistake her princesshood for something else would be rather tragic. I mean obviously it was a princess, duh. Her eyes popped back open in surprise, well there was a surprise at least. He hadn't lied. Her poor little mind raced to figure out what was happening, daddy kissed her on the forehead or the cheek, but the lips... That was something the prince and princess did in the stories. Well she was a princess.. Maybe colt was dressed up as a prince? He didn't look it... Her thoughts started to slow as the effects quickly took in. Three.. Two.. One... Out like a light. What a memorable first "kiss."
Alan held still, Gun pointed straight at Colt. Thoughts turned, what was happening just before he came in... Oh snap. "The hell were you doing?!" As any parent would be screaming in that moment. Not to mention his daughter was now limp in this man's arms. Poison? Antidotes? It could be anything. "Let her go." He repeated, swallowing. Crapcrapcrap. Alan knew all too well that Talia was working as a small human(oid) shield at the moment. If he shot, she could get shot. Why had he kept her? He knew this kind of thing could happen... She'd be better off in a home where she couldn't be used as a hostage.
That had partially unsettled the naga, and slow? You try going through that many files and registering each one as useless. Not easy... Oh well, time to save his comrade. "Alan..." he smiled, tail casually slipping towards the briefcase of explosives. There was nothing in this room, he had decided after his last search. Nothing he was going to find any time soon anyways. And thus, it was time to set something to mess Alan up real bad and get out of there. And unlike Colt, bullets did hurt him. "I think we're the ones saying what goes around here." he slid the briefcase towards him as he spoke, masking the soft sound it made with his voice. "Now put the gun down, let us leave, and Talia will go unharmed." At the moment he wasn't sure if that was a lie or not... Had Colt actually killed her or just knocked her out?
What a memorable first kiss for the little princess. Heh, prince and princess, that was a cute way of looking at it. Even if Colt didn't look anything like a brave and handsome prince. Somehow, looking at it like that made the whole ***** issue a little less creepy. It wasn't as if Colt had meant anything for the kiss though. He was just doing what he had to, the only way he knew how to, via a good smack on the lips! As for Taila's costume... he had figured she was some sort of royalty. But children these days... hell, you could never be to sure what their imaginations had come up with.
Ignoring Alan's question, Colt shifted Taila so that she was resting over his shoulder, covering most vital organs. Now, don't look at me like that! Colt wasn't being a creep. If this man was so frantic to protect his child that he would pull a gun, Colt felt confident that he wouldn't shoot. Talk about your protective fathers... It made Colt happy to know, though, that this man cared for his daughter. He wouldn't have wanted it any other way. Reaching an arm up, the red head tenderly stroked the little girls back, nuzzling his cheek against the side of the child's face, he mumbled into her hair, "Don't worry... she's just asleep, no harm." Reassuring both of the other males in the room, he hadn't indeed killed her.
Slowly standing up, Colt made his way over to Vid. "Here--" he hissed, nudging the naga with his elbow. With Vid now paying attention, Colt carefully handed him the sleeping girl. If Alan was less likely to shoot the man holding Talia, Vid would be better of keeping her in his arms. Despite how much the snake hated her--he was going to have to put up with it, after all, he was the one who could die from a bullet wound. Colt could too... but it would be really ******** hard to ace off the undead with a gun. So now what? Would Alan let them go? ...What about the things Vid had been looking for. Had this whole night been a complete waist? Or could they still manage to blow this b***h before it was too late.
Alan only seemed to tense more at that, finger slipping away from the trigger as Talia was shifted to cover up more of anything he could hit. While Alan wasn't keen on Colt's exact powers, he did know he was capable of killing rather quickly. And Talia... A shiver ran down the poor father's spine as Colt proceeded to cuddle the girl. His mind screamed 'get your hands off her!' but he held his tongue, simply gritting his teeth. Just asleep... But not out of harms way. His mind started trying to figure an out, as any mind would... They wanted the corporation, did they not? Talia or D-corp... Wait, just let them leave? No demands for the files? Good thing too, Alan's held work at a higher priority than himself... And anyone else, for that matter. Even Talia, as much as he cared for the child... Now granted, he'd likely snap after the hostage situation, but he would protect D-corp and it's secrets no matter what the cost.
Techs arrived from downstairs then, hurrying into the hall Alan shot up a free hand to stop them. "Stay!" Who knew what would happen if anyone interfered. It was a delicate situation, one that wasn't to be aggravated with meddlesome bodyguards.
Vid blinked as the girl was shifted to his arms, quickly catching her with a look of distaste. He hated the project, and anything that came of it.. but again, this was his first time ever meeting one... Perhaps those thoughts would change. But not now, now this girl was just a pawn in the big game of chess. Something to sacrifice for the sake of the king. He shifted the girl to prove as a life vest, much like Colt had done. His tail shifted again, pressing the briefcase behind the desk. Alan's eyes were staying planted on his daughter. Perfect. The tail lightly tapped Colt's ankle, then shifted back to the briefcase. A nice subtle hint as to what he wanted him to do. And if that wasn't enough, his next metaphor would do nicely. "Well then, time for us to 'blow this joint' As they say." Vid slipped forward, locking eyes with Alan, who returned the steady gaze-At least for the most part. Every now and then his eyes would flicker to the face of Talia. "Steady now... Slowly." He neared Alan, tail following his pace faster than it normally would have, steadily curling and coiling every time Vid slowed.

Alan was blissfully unaware of this, pulling the gun back from a full armed to his side... Still pointed at the naga, for safety, but another arm reached for Talia. Perhaps not the smartest move, as he might later recall... But in the heat of the moment one didn't have time to think about what might happen, what might be a trap... Suddenly Talia had been chucked into Alan. A gunshot cracked through the quiet room, shot off automatically in response to the sudden movement. Talia was safe in Alan's arms, but following her path was an open mouthed sea krait. Shoes slipped, tile squeaked, all was over in a flash. Alan sprawled back outside the door, Vid was down as well, with a nice mouthful of Alan's calf. Missed? Well... he still shot a good dose of Venom. Not as fast as a neck shot would have done but... That would do. A man sized dose of krait venom did not take long to stop a person, no matter where it was injected. In a moment, the techs were hurrying down the hall to their fallen boss, Vid steading himself and gapping the gun that had slipped only a few inches from Alan's hand. Tick Tock...
Alan was an interesting man to say the least. Even if she wasn't his real daughter, Tailia was still a living breathing creation of his, so to speak. Obviously he did show attachment... but attachment could be apparently scarified. If Colt had known his thoughts, he might have swished his finger, 'tisk, tisk, I'll just take her then'. Yet, that really wasn't a fair statement. If it came down between himself and some little snot-nosed child, the outcome would be obvious. Or would it? Considering that Colt had never been a father, it would be hard to tell. Yes, he liked kids, hell... maybe he even loved them. But you don't have to love or like something all the time. Children were best in small increments. Over time they lost some of their pizazz.
Heh, so this is what it had boiled down too, a good old fashioned showdown. Colt would have said he didn't like it, but hell, if he said that, he would be lying. The risk. The thrill. Fingers tightened, gripping into a fist. Tonight would be remembered for years to come. Anxiously Colt watched the attacker with a gun. The shinigami was out in the open now, vulnerable, he had to watch his step. The one whom held all the power though, had his attention else where. Eyes were vividly fixed upon the snake. In fact, Colt was sure that, he hadn't even seen the naga hint so openly at the briefcase. ... Vid had just done that, right? Eyes blinked. So... there was still going to be an explosion? The cheesy innuendo confirmed it. It was so unlike Vid to use such a cliché. Unliving and dead gray eyes gave a passing glance to the man in the doorway. Yes, he wouldn't notice if he made a move. Just to be safe though, Colt waited till Vid began slithering foreword.
Down slunk Colt. Opening the case, a mess of wires and various chemicals met him. He smiled. Why hello there, lovelies.... Click, clack... the man worked quickly. He wasn't an expert in bomb making, but Vid had been sure to walk him through the steps of assembling the present materials properly. Red goes to green, flip the switch--twenty or thirty seconds? The resounding crack of the gun, hastened the choice to twenty. What the hell was going on? Wait, wait! he told himself. A flick of his finger and the device began to tick down. Up shot the red head. Eyes had a brief moment to only glance at the scene before him. Men in white coats rushing in, Vid on the round... cold hard fingers wrapped around a lethargic snakes arm. "Up---" he was already part way down the hall dragging the snake in hand by the time he finished that one word. He hoped, hoped, hoped, hoped, that they would not be stopped by anyone. Most unlikely, so he prepared himself for a hit. Oh well, a couple of stings and gashes would be better compared to a face full of shrapnel.
Tick tock. Alan's mind raced. Anti venom. Anti venom. Everything started to blur, things started to stop... he wasn't even aware of the mild convulsions he was starting to go into. The techs swarmed him, giving up on the attackers for the moment. Not like D-corp couldn't track them, right? Most importantly, they all needed that one man alive. Tsh, he shouldn't have gone up there. Seconds passed like hours,"Anti venom." Alan choked out, blood filling his mouth. Oh dear, why had he bit his tongue? "Sea..." A tech rolled his head to the side, letting the crimson fluid spill out so the man could speak. "Krait." He finished, gurgled, any more words that tried to leave his lips failed as everything went numb.
Vid followed, fingers grasping the gun as a just in case. "Staircase." He urged, scales slipping against the tile as he tried to regain balance. After all. Not supposed to use elevators during fire. And no doubt that was going to cause a fire. So far none of the techs were chasing them... Good. They'd make it out no problem now. Into the stairs they went, straight for the clear. Perfection.
