Sorry if someone else posted this... hopefully not x.x

I just found this website. Just a simple guide on "being a Gothic Lolita".

what do you guys think?

do any of you have objections to any of the steps or tips?

I think it's good for people who are just getting into lolita... ^o^;;

Its....sorta...decent. Not horribly written like a lot of other stuff I have seen ^.^;; I guess its ok for n00bs, that sorta sounded elitist ( 4laugh I can't help it I'm an old Lolita )

I think it is a fairly okay guide though it kinda is confusing when they say to get into other colors such as pink and blue because that will be straying from specifically Gothic Lolita. It could also have at least included a few links to sites where they sell Lolita, but other than those, I think it outlines most of the basics.

...as long as one keeps in mind that that is for GOTHIC lolita, not lolita in general, I don't see anything too off about it...

I rather like it. it's a good base point for beginners, and it was serious and encouraging the whole way through. It even mentioned things I forgot, like not confusing Lolita with other Japanese street fashions.

I approve. *now reads others comments*

I don't think it's that fabulous...
But that is only because I don't agree with having a set of rules for "becoming" something.
That just eliminates creativity.

Also, I am SICK of that picture.

yeah...

looks like the page's been edited since the time i posted this.

seeing as it can be edited, being a wikipedia and all, let's discuss and try to edit it to make it more appropriate.

because i also don't agree with everything explained on here, i just like how it gives out some ideas to those who don't know too much about the lolita subculture already...

if there's anything in particular any one of you would edit/add/remove, what would it be?

Just what I was going to say 3nodding
Being yourself is, for me, the best way of becoming something you like. If you follow these "how-to guides", you'll end up forcing yourself to do things you actually don't like, and quitting things you liked.

Besides, for me Lolita is only FASHION. No Loli pseudo-ideology for me, please.

I think it's very good for getting someone interested in the lolita lifestyle. I'm a new lolita myself, but am relieved to hear that I already have a few lolita qualities listed in the article.

It really should be lolita, and not gothic lolita.

Also, the colours makes little sense if you don't put them in the context of a lolita style. Just as gyarus have style categories, so do lolitas.

I believe the article is appropriate for beginners in the fashion (such as myself) and/or the lifestyle. It provides some general guidelines but doesn't bluntly say that you have to do things in a specific way, without straying. It merely suggests what one should do and that adding an individual touch is admirable.

I agree with you completely! Having a set of guidelines is just simply ridiculous. Get into whatever you want, and if it happens to be Gothic Lolita, so be it! However, I don't think it's right to encourage others to conform to the ideals and steryotpes of a certain fasion or trend, simply to be 'hardcore', or whatever you want to call it. It eliminates creativity and variation in the style, and encourages everyone to look the same. It also forces people into things that they may not want to be, which to me, is just sickening. It's alright if you already have those characteristics. However, trying to conform to all those guidelines against your will, simply because you want to wear the clothes, to me, is detrimental to oneself, and is not in the the intrests of anybody.
