Moving steadily to the top of a hill, a dark lioness looked around, ears perked. They matched a gray streak down her back that stretched all the way to her tail, which tapered in silver hair. Dancing in the wind, her head was covered by a patch of long hair compareable to a mane, also silver. Green eyes dancing with the wind and her hair, she let out call of greeting to the local pride. Ishara had arrived in the Kusini'mwezi lands, and she wasn't alone.

Trailing behind her were her three cubs. Sairin, the largest of the three and the darkest. Ihlo, the dainty white female of the litter. And bringing up the rear, Tota'keke, the sleepier of the three. The lioness had brought them to the Kusini lands not only for their safety, but for the sake of the pride. It would be good to have unrelated blood, and the lioness had heard of some blood relation issues going on. But now.. Hopefully, this would be a first step to help.

Looking back behind her, she called gently down to her cubs, "Come on, now, the hill's not that big. And just think, you'll have many playmates to be with now without going far."

Sairin padded close and looked up cooly. What was play? Hmm. Once on the crest of the hill, the lion cub sat and looked around.

"...So. This is where web were going, Mother?"

Both ears flattened against his head. This place looked.... So boring.

Ihlo reached the top of the hill but was out of breath momentarily from the climb. She didn't want her mother and brothers to think her as a weakling, so she took big deep breaths to catch up. She did sound awfully funny though, taking huge gulps of air like a fish would water.

The little white cub was not sure what to expect of these new lands. All she knew was a name and the fact that there'd alreayd be some lions here. At that precise moment, she was filled with dread, akin to the 'first-day-of-school' jitters. What if they didn't like her? What if they didn't like to play? And what if they were mean?

Ihlo stood nervously by her mother.

But of course Tota'keke brought up the rear. Yawning, because he was tired, he looked around and then looked over to his siblings. Sairin looked bored, Ihlo looked tired like he himself did--uh, what was she doing? That was an odd way to breathe...--but when he heard "playmate", he perked up, awake. Playmates?

When he had found out he and his family were moving, he was sad because he didn't think he'd get to see Moyo or Iola again. But if there were more playmates here, he was fine with that. He'd grow up strong, too, and... whatever happened in the future, he would think on later. Right now, he was going to take in his surroundings.

Travelling along the edges of her homeland was a pasttime Jini had swiftly taken up. To her, just an ickling little she cub, it was dangerous, exciting and the closest she could possibly get to any type of adventure. Therfore, Jini spotted the family of four on the hill before any of the other members of her pride.

Her tail twitched.

Who were they?

Strangers.

Interest and curiosity bubbled within the pit of her stomach and she made a beeline for the mother and her cubs, making sure to stay low to the ground and out of their site.

The element of surprise was not only important; it was absolutely necessary.

Sairin's ears flicked as he looked around. Thus far he was unimpressed with the lands he finally flattened his ears. Well, his siblings could enjoy, if they wanted. He didn't have to like it. Sairin's tail flicked as he finally distracted himself studying the landscape. By Gods, he was going to memorize it!

Silver-tipped tail flicking, the lioness filled her lungs with the smell of the air. But something caught her attention. Being an adult, Ishara knew when she smelled something. Scanning the grasses, she used her huntress's eye to pinpoint what she saught. There, creeping up the hill... She smiled, humored by the little cub. She'd play along and pretend she didn't see it.

Turning back to her own cubs, she nodded a bit. "Come on, we should find the pride... It wouldn't do well for a hunting party to find us and question why we're here." Stepping carefully over Sairin, Ishara started down the hill. "Follow my tail so you don't get lost in the grass."

It was unfortante for her, really, that she hadn't been born with the gift of stealth. Jini tripped -on stones and loose pieces of ground that crumbled away and rolled down the hill behind her- and nose dived into the into the soft brown earth various times. On one occasion, she'd even stopped to watch as a troup of red ants carried bits and pieces of their latest meal passed her in a line.

After a surprsingly long amount of time, the cub had finally managed to bring herself to the part of the hill that was directly behind the family. Jini had taken cover behind a small, wiry bush that did little to hide her.

Her tail twitched in anticipation. This was exciting!

Still under the impression that she'd been the sneakiest cub there ever was, Jini jumped out from the pathetic bush she'd deemed her hiding spot and yelled;

"Boo!"

Sairin had moved to follow his mother when the new cub jumped from nowhere, and caused the normally unshakeable cub to topple with a loud yeowl. He finally staggered up with leafbits in his mane, dark eyes wide.

"HEY! That's not funny!"

Lo, someone had gotten him to react like a normal cubblet!

Gasp.

Jini paused where she stood and studied Sairin for a few moments, stunned by his tone.

"It was," she insisted with her nose in the air and a flick of her tail. Then, she reasoned that he must be reacting so sourly because she'd frightened him. Jini beamed. Her sneakage had been a success!

"Did I scare you?" she asked him excitedly and a big, proud grin curled her lips upwards.

Just wait until her family heard about this!

Sairin's ears went flat as he attempted to act indignant, however his tone gave him away.

"N...n...n...no! Of course not!" He fluffed his fur to look bugger, but all he succeeded in doing was showing off the sticks and twigs in his fur. Sairin noticed, and mewled in agitation, trying to preserve dignity.

He also FAILED to do so.

Jini's eyebrows rose in disbelief.

"I did too," she boasted smuggly, sauntering over to him with a self-satisfied look on her face.

The cub took a few minutes to study his appearance and, after taking in the numerous leaves and sticks in his fur and his poor attempt at keepin his dignity, burst out giggling.

"You look funny," she told him as-a-matter-of-factly after she'd sobered.

She liked this boy. He made her laugh. That was good.

Ihlo's nervousness had surpassed her curisoity this time. She stuck close to her mother as they began to descend the hill, but the fiasco happening behind her quickly caught her attention.

At first, she hid behind one of her mother's legs and just observed the actions that played out before her. Hehe, it was good to see Sairin actually acting more his age. And it was always good to see a brother beaten by a girl.

Curious to the new cub, Ihlo began to peek further and further from behind her mother, until she could be clearly seen.

Sairin's ears pricked and he made a sour face.

"What do you think you're laughing at!?" The cub demanded. He didn't notice the shrubbery travelling with him at all. All at once he spied his sister watching in amusement, and.. Well...

He hid in the grass.

"You," she told him in a tone that suggested it was obvious. Jini paused and watched him hide, wondering what on earth had gotten into his silly little head.

She followed his gaze to the other female cub that was using her mother's legs as a shield. Jini beamed.

Wow. The cub had never imagined that she could be that scary. The entire pride had to hear about this.

"He's funny," she smiled at Ihlo, nodding in Sairin's direction.
