I was going to go out with this guy. He said he's learning Chinese and I'm like COOL I'm learning Japanese and you know what he said surprised
He said I hate damn japs.
surprised eek crying He said they killed like 10 billion people and many in China and that Japan hasn't apologized so he's mad and stuff. And I was like crying because he's said japs (some one at my school said that and he's asian) and that Japan stole kanji from china and all that stuff and now I'm upset because we weren't born then and Japan hasn't done that anymore so why should someone hate a country for no reason. Or at least one that was over 3 decades ago...

Post your thoughts and this loser sad stare Honestly... I know what happened and I don't feel bad. That was many years ago and times changed. And also I thought the fire-bombing of Tokyo was before the WWII but I found out it was after meaning the U.S had a grudge and was really mean and now I see why some Japanese people hate westerners sad crying I hate us too but I don't think Canada was involved in that.

People are really weird nowadays. But don't worry, he's just stupid. But I don't know about any of these stuff like some bombing in Tokyo.
About the "stealing" kanji, how could someone steal kanji, if the japanese were introduced by the chinese? I don't get that.

He's not Chinese or Korean but I still don't want people to hate someone. Like he said Japanese is at fault for eveything and blames Japan but I don't see why. For me, I may not be Japanese but I'm learning it and I'd like to live there which would mean I'd be Japanese. I wasn't born there no, but it would be my nation right? So that's hatred towards me too. Would you like it if someone blamed you for things you never did? I doubt it.

People are so strange, I agree. i have said this so many times: ~japanese kanji meaning have been changed ~many new ones were made up by US ~we simplified some differently ~we use more pretty and traditional ones ~onyomi are very different ex 生（中国） zheung 生（日本） sei you see they are not the same. besides, the koreans stole them ,and then we forced them to write for us, and then we took them.

My grandfather was a Canadian soldier in WWII. He was captured and totured by the Nazis, and almost dead when he was freed. But still, he doesn't hate all Germans or anything; you can't blame someone's mistake on everyone, right?
But, like Aiko said, it just doesn't work that way. I have a Chinese friend who's annoyed by me studying and being interested in Japan/ese.
So, don't take it so hard. If he's not Chinese, and you're not Japanese, than what's the point of conflicting over their conflicts, anyways?

I apologized but he hasn't said much and I showed him an article from mainichi saying the Japanese Prime Minister wants to patch up Japan and China's thing. Yeah he is a jerk though. Right though, I agree you can't blame someone's mistake. Oh well though... we'll see what happens.

China eats dog!? Ewww that's gross and mean!!! Yeah, he lives in Canada now but still. He said he doesn't know if he is bi. He's questioning so he could be straight. Yeah... no offense to people from the States but I can see why. sweatdrop Canada and the States kinda don't like each other that much as well. I've family and some friends there but somethings I don't like and we're like rivals. But yeah... I know about the reading bit about Chinese and Japanese kanji but I read kanji originate from China and was changed to fit Japan and some kanji were made only from Japan and kana originated from Kanji. I had a book teaching 2000 kanji and they had a bit for each kanji with the Chinese reading and alternative ways they may appear.
