I really have no idea how to go about finding out about my past lives. I've read a little bit about it, but I can't do a spell for a dream about it, because I don't dream very often anymore. When I was younger, I would dream a lot, but they wern't good dreams. My mind (or a fair bit of it, anyway) is too trapped in this life to be able to tune into other ones. I know I've had a few. I want to know, but at the same time, I have this instinct that I may not want to tread there.
I may need to get into a serious state of trance to get my concious brain to shut up. I've always had some trouble meditating, and I take longer than most to reach the point where my concious mind quiets down. Even when I was meditating quite frequently, I still had trouble with it.
Should I even tread into my past lives? I know there's something... important there. Something that I missed. Maybe something I need to be careful not to repeat?
Is there a way for me to find out? I know my concious brain will get in the way, so some of the easier methods won't work, like just imagining my way towards the truth.

I'm going through similar things... I barely ever dream at all now, but I used to... but they were never good ones either... (I wonder if theres a reason we're so similar like that... like maybe we have something in common that caused it... donno) and I have also been thinking about past lives and wondering if it's a good idea to look ito them (seriously... I posted about it somewhere... what's with the coincidences?)... I don't know how to go about it, though though... I think with past lives, you only really need to remember not to take it too seriously... You aren't now who you were then... But still try to take something away from it.

i dont dream much either, but if your not that sleepy when you fall asleep and you keep a dream journal, it helps with dream recall quite a bit. As for the lives thing theres a big thread on it around here somewhere, maybe its on one of the other pages...

The "Guild Guide". [nod nod]

Ahem. Back on topic.

Freya, why don't you try meditating with some Fluorite crystal? I've heard it works wonders. [nod nod]

... for remembering past lives? Care to elaborate?
PostPosted: Sun Sep 24, 2006 6:20 am

Indeedy.

I believe it's in one of Silver Ravenwolf's books: to ride a Silver Broomstick, in fact. She didn't elaborate, and I've not managed to find some yet, so I can't speak from experience. gonk

When I do get my hands on some fluorite though, I shall tell all; most likely in the academy, as this subject has come up a lot.

Come to think of it... I should be able to get some off casey... *considers experiment* Not sure though... Meditating doesn't so alot for me spiritually.

I hope not. I really do.

Drew, your suggestion would work if it were simply that. When I do dream, they're... well, not dreaming is far better than the alternative.

Silver Ravenwolf? I'm not going to say everything she writes is bull, but, well... gonk I've been meaning to read something by her, because I think some of what she writes is correct, but I've read a little bit about her views on the craft, and I know I don't agree with her on that aspect.

So thats what that is! I've got a chunk of purplish, very transparent rock that I have no idea what it is. It's probably flourite. I've looked at pictures through google. Yeah. I got a huge bag of crystals that were just uncut chunks of different things. I don't know what most of them are. I don't have a digital camera, or I'd ask the guild throuh that one thread. I may try that, if somebody can find something more specific. ... It could be amethyst, though

And... like I said, it takes me a really long time to get into a meditative state. I may have to get myself into a trance to actually manage anything. But that worries me a bit, because I'm not completely in control when I go into a trance. I can snap out of a trance of my own volition, but what my unconcious does, I have no control over.

Yeh... If it's purplish and translucent then there is a good chance of it being amethyst... you don't have to have pictures for the identifying thread either... you can just describe them. (I'm not sure if they'll be able to help as much with this case though =S)

a trick i did to see and partialy relive my past life as a meditational dream aka a dream u get in meditation was to meditate with a familiar feeling object in ur hands or infront of u.
it really did the trick for me.
found out i was a knight. 3nodding

It's perfectly normal to wonder what you were in a past life. You discover hidden talents you never thought you had. Someone recognises you and you have never met them before. Or you feel a strange connection with someone from the beyond.

Whatever the reason, you shouldnt get to hung up on it. The truth is, delving into past life regression is unhealthy at best and dangerous at worst. eek When you start looking for something in the past you lose sight of things in the future, and soon enough your entire life is changed and you let go of who you were in this life. Its nice to think about who we might have been, but we shouldnt dwell. If we do we could be doomed to live the same life over again, learn the same lessons, and pay the same price.

Why waste this life looking for what you finished in another. No, I say full speed ahead. Go forth, learn and improve yourself in this time and you will find you are a more enlightened and enriched person anyway.

As for not being able to meditate. This is not unusual at all due to the fact that we are naturally hi-speed thinkers. Our attention spans have been dulled down by hours of TV and a speed driven lifestyle. (Have you noticed that the average camera shot in a commercial is 2.5 seconds long?)

How do you get over this? Find the method that works for you. l suggest reading up on the transcendental method. The use of mantras may seem corny but there is a reason they have been used for millenia.

Good Luck,
Aloron

I don't agree, I think that descovering about your past lives can help you discover your goal in this life, the reason you are who you are and what it is that you aim to learn. I believe you should be careful not to get emotionally attatched to the experiences of your past life, however, I do think that it is a valuable learning experience. Regressing to two of my past lives has helped me overcome and understand certain parts of my personality so that I have been able to move forward. Past life regression shouldn't change your entire life as such. It should help you to understand about yourself and those around you.
