The Mother:
Name: Tahja Estes
Age: 23
Gender: Female
Race: Human (Elemental Bender)
Appearance: [Changes often, due to Mage qualities] Tall and graceful, though strongly built. Tai doesn't look fragile at all. Her eyes are a strong shade of gray and her hair a fine silver. It used to be black, but after so much magic use it began to bleach into the shade that it is now.
Her hair is usually kept back in a doubled over ponytail and kept in place with a clamp-clip. Her bangs hang semi-wild, semi-tamed over her eyes. Her skin is a sunkissed hazel shade, and the tips of her ears are slightly pointed in a true show of her heritage.
Past occupation: Summoner, water mage

Dislikes: Very little, besides the obvious (Jerks, bullies, hypocrits, liars, etc.)

Name: Kyou Estes
Age: 17
Gender: Male
Race: Cat anthromorphic
Appearance: Typical build for a teenager his age, with a strong upper body due to his training, and it doesn't show much in his legs but they contain a fierce kick as well. Kyou's body is covered all over in a firey orange fur that's soft to the touch. His eyes are a blazing red, and his claws the usual shade of ivory.
He usually dresses in jeans or his dark olive pants, sometimes cargo pants, and usually a black tank top, a black tshirt with a light-weight, white over jacket, and sneakers or black shoes of some kind.
Past position: Orphan, until Tahja came along and took him in.
Likes: Training, taking walks, resting in trees or on the roof, fish
Dislikes: Asparagus, idiots, leeks, Sabrina

o9.o2.o5. Our little charge, taken the day recieved. The jars are simple, plugged with cork. Inside they show certain signs of life. I'm very curious to see the process of merging later on but for now the three of us are just settling in.
1o.o6.o5. We've recieved confirmation, our Aerandir has a 79% chance of being male! In light of this the family voted to name him Li, as suggested by Kyou. We're all curious to see what features the gryphon will have, and more than that, what he'll be like.
1o.12.o5. Li's begun to glow within the confines of the glass jar! Tessa has nicknamed the little glowing essence "Firefly", poor Li, he's likely to have four nicknames before he's even fully formed! ^_^;;
1o.14.o5. Li's essence has finally broken free of it's confinement! Within moments of this new development the orb began shifting shape!
1o.14.o5. Li is officially here! We could hardly believe that after two months our little Aerandir was finally sitting before us! This picture was snapped by Tessa just moments after the little one met the rest of his family.

 Kami. Li hasn't met Kami yet, mostly for the fact that she's on a different island, but also given his current state is still feather and fluff.
Kami is a friend of mine (Tai) from the mainland, we found out about Aerandir nearly at the same time, though she became a Guardian long, long before me. Hopefully she'll be like an aunt-figure for Li, as she already is to Tessa and Kyou. ^_^
Keanu. None of us have had the pleasure of meeting Keanu yet, but I'm looking forward to that day. Li has not met him yet either, of course.
Rawiya. This dramatic female has Li wound around her hoof already. Li doesn't seem to be able to tell when Rawiya is faking for attention and when she's genuinely upset, or maybe he has trouble with it because she's a friend? The two played a game of follow the leader in Ari's yard while Tai and Ari became aquainted. It'll be interesting to see how this friendship goes.

o9.o7.o5. This was a gift sent from Emilie, on the mainland. He's from the kitty-bombs shop, although it was the first I'd heard of it. Hopefully our Aerandir will get along with him. For now he's nameless, though I've come to think of him as "Blitz".

Tahja Estes .//. A letter from a friendly neighbor_______
A letter arrives on your doorstep, complete with the address and name of both Aerandir and guardian printed in neat blue fountain pen. Once open, the letters on a clean sheet of cream paper, and contained inside is what appears to be an old flute piece.
It's got a hole that runs through the actual piece, where another bit of metal went no doubt - but other than that it's polished and doesn't appear to be that well worn considering its age.A letter from Emi Hello there, I know you don't know me, but I'd like to congratulate you on Li's growth. I remembered you said on the board that you needed some items for his quest, and after a few hours of scourging - I found a piece of metal that might just help. My sister played the flute when I was little, and when she was ten all the keys just about fell off. Luckily, I still have most of the keys lying around the house - I just hope it helps. I hope you don't mind me asking, but what animals is Li made out of? My Aerandir (Blanche), who has also recently been given a growth quest, is part arctic fox and part arctic owl. Here's for the very best on your growth quest, Emi (number one) and Blanche.

Finally, the last book was in place, the last pot was stored away, the last chair was settled. They'd finally finished moving in.
Tahja's hand slipped quietly over the spine of the book before falling away. The young woman turned with a warming smile to gaze about their abode. House thirteen on the Aridili map, their new home.
The settup was simple, but cozy, and certainly before long Tai would manage to make it feel more filled in and homey. Right now it left her, as well as her charges, feeling contented.
"Well I guess this is it then."
Tahja straightened and directed her gaze towards her eldest "child", Kyou. The teenager, fifteen years of age, was covered in firey orange fur from head to toe. He had warm red eyes, though usually they were far-off or intense. Large cat ears sat on either side of his head, just as a normal cat's would. A neat, smooth tail lashed a little to and fro as if to contradict the lightly muscled arms that came to cross over his chest. His look was tiredly quizzical.
"Anything else we gotta do?"
Tahja''s gray eyes glinted with a bit of sudden understanding. She herself had been so caught up in the move that she didn't think to stop for many breaks. That''s generally the way she was, a work-o-holic as Kyou and Tessa called her. If it weren''t for those two in her life she would have long since worked herself into the ground. Knowing her behavior Kyou had worked almost non-stop to keep pace...!
"No," She smiled, tucking a grayed lock behind a pointed hazel ear. "No, that''s all that needs to be done now.... we're settled, home."
There was silence in response, but after a few moments Kyou's posture seemed to make the most minute of changes. His body went a little lax and there was a small smirk tugging at the corner of his lips. It was as close to a smile as he'd get right now, tired as he was, but Tahja noticed it.
Not just Tahja, either. ^_^
"Kyou-Kyou is smiiiiling! I think he likes it here already!" cool
BRISTLE! "TESSA! How many times do I have to tell you: don't call me Kyou-Kyou!!"
"...." Sigh. Tahja chuckled a bit and surveyed the scene before simply stepping forward and placing a hand on Kyou''s shoulder, then a kiss to Tessa''s white furred cheek. She earned an affectionate but brief brush of Tessa''s head against hers and a chipper smile. Tahja chuckled once more and continued on her way to her bedroom for her final task.
"I don't understand how you still have the energy to yell like that, Kyon-Kyon, I''m pooped!"
"So then GO T' BED AND STOP CALLING ME NAMES!!" scream
Tessa laughed out loud and glomped her "brother" quickly, planting a kiss on his cheek as Tai had done to her before letting go and running for her room like the hounds of hades were on her heels. The orange-one simply muttered, a bit red in the face, and relented to head to his own room.
~*~ ~*~ ~*~ ~*~ ~*~
It was actually some time later before the keeper of the house would turn in. Hair let loose, clad in boxers and a tshirt, the young misses eyes slid shut as she settled down to rest for the evening.
The cool sheets felt like a piece of heaven at that moment. Tahja''s hazel arms slid along the bed and sought out the pillow that she knew to be somewhere overhead. Her bedroom had not been fully set up just yet, but what furniture she did have was the bed, which sat against the wall under the window. To the other side of the bed was her nightstand, and atop of the nightstand next to the table lamp were the two labeled jars. In the dark of the room the blue lights from within the glass seemed brighter than usual, earning the ocassional stare of quiet admiration.
Everything seemed to have moved so fast until this point. Now, as night had fallen and her other "children" were sleeping in their rooms she had a moment to herself to reflect.
Sleep wouldn't come yet, so instead Tahja rolled onto her side to gaze into the two jars on her night stand. She wondered what the lifeform emerging would look like, what personality she or he would have, gender, likes, dislikes... Would they get along with her and their siblings?
Once more, Tai's eyes slid shut, tugging the pillow closer quietly and feeding off of the vibes the inhabitants of the house gave off. Their auras were soft right now, pulsing gently and lulling her away to sleep. Tomorrow would be another day...

"What do you think?"
".... I think it's a cat."
"No, Kyou, I mean, what do you think of it as a gift for our Aerandir...!"
Kyou simply smirked, and that's when Tahja realized that he'd been being sarcastic. She frowned and lightly smacked his arm.
"Don't do that." She scolded, accent rolling.
Kyou rolled his eyes. "Isn't it still a little early to start getting things for it? We don't even know what gender it is yet."
Tahja, who had knelt down to play with the kitten a bit, looked up from what she was doing to give Kyou a bit of a stare. "Gender hardly matters with a pet, Kyou."
"...." //////;;
Tahja just smiled slightly with payback for Kyou's earlier sarcasm. The little grey tabby purred beneath her fingertips as she firmly scratched it's neck and behind it's ears. It was a little out of the blue when Tahja picked up the warm little bundle and deposited him in Kyou's arms. She kind of ignored the fact that Kyou's eyes widened to the size of saucers.
"H-hey! What are y--?!"
"Watch him for me for a bit, would you, Kyou? Tessa is out right now and I have something that I'd like to do." A smile over her shoulder as she moved to head to her bedroom accompanied the words. It also managed to stop Kyou in his tracks with nothing more than a frown and an arm full of squirming fur. The cat boy muttered good naturedly after, and went to find some food for their feline friend.

An old, worn looking brown leather book sat recently used on Tahja's desk just some time later. Within it's slowly weathering pages sat a fresh entry. The owner of the book had already gone on to help Kyou make lunch for the day while the book sat open for the ink to dry.
Entry: Sept 7th Everything is unpacked by now. All we have to do is add a few things here and there to make it feel completely like home. Right now I'm sitting here, staring at the two jars we were given, and I admit that I'm still a bit surprised. Plesantly surprised, of course, but surprised all the same. It just seemed to happen so suddenly, I think. Today a very special bundle arrived for us with the mail. Emilie, a friend that still lives on the mainland, sent me a Kitty-bomb. Hes a handsome little fellow, a light shade of gray with slightly darker gray stripes. He has pale ice blue eyes. I wonder if our little Aerandir will get along with him. ' I want to get out and meet some of the neighbors if it's possible, but I find it hard to tear myself away from my desk and the jars. I suppose I could always try to bring them along. ((She chuckled as she wrote this.)) For now this will be all for my update. I'll have to write Emilie a thank you letter a little later on tonight to send off soon. Until next time.

The letter lay at her doorstep, just slightly wedged under her doorstep, so any passing breezes wouldn't chance to carry it off. The envelope had been stained a soft blue color, and there were pictures drawn on the outside, pictures that had appeared to have been drawn by a child. The envelope contained not only a letter, but a couple of photographs as well and, when it's receiver found and opened it, the letter would read as follows...
Letter Dear Tahja, I couldn't believe my ears when I heard you had come to the islands to be a caretaker, but I guess it's really true. First of all, congratulations! I bet you'll love living here on the islands. I've not yet been to Ar'Idil yet, but if people are as friendly there as they are here on Cetalu, you'll love it. Everyone is very friendly and helpful, and there's almost never a dull moment to found. I've really missed you, and everyone else back on the mainlands. But now that you're here, we should figure out a way to meet sometime! I know Keanu would love to meet you. Keanu's my little one, of course, and I've told him all about you. We want to know all about your little one too. I don't suspect it's very old yet(unless you've adopted a child?) since you've just arrived, but that doesn't matter, because we're still curious. I'll have to ask Alyosha about boats, and travelling between islands. There was a little festival on Ar'Idil a while ago(which I was unfortunately unable to attend), so there must be some common way of getting there. In the meantime, I look forward to hearing from you. A few days after the letter arrived at Tahja's hut, a correspondance letter finds it's way to Kami's. The packet feels slightly heavy, as it's loaded down with photographs also. The letter reads as follows:
Correspondance Letter Hello Kami, I was more than a little surprised myself, but here we all are! I've brought Kyou and Tessa along with me. Everyone is settled in by now, including our charge. Keaunu is darling! Congratulations, and yes, if we could meet again I think it would be a wonderful, good time. Everyone back on the mainland has missed you too, and I miss our friends myself already as well. We've all got one another, though, and the community is great! I haven't really met anyone else just yet, I suppose I'm too distracted by my research. Tessa tells me that I should get out of the house and meet them... You know what's frightening though? Kyou agreed with her. ^_^ Now I know I should get out more then. I've included photos of our feather and fluff, they belong to a Gyrfalcon and a Lynx. My favorite raptor and wildcat, irnocially. Well, I hope to hear from you again soon, and hopefully I'll have more to report soon. Everyone sends their regards and love! Journal Entry: October 8th I've moved the jar to the desk beside my journal. These days my thoughts are consumed more and more with curiosity. I wonder if he'll like to read, I wonder how he'll get along with his siblings, I wonder if he'll really think of us like family or just good friends. I didn't realize that "parenthood" was like this! Tess and Kyou both came to me already old enough to have personalities and know how to do most things for themselves, it makes me worry just a little if I'll be a good "mother" or not to someone that needs to be taught from slate. I think that later on today I'm going to take Kyou or Tessa with me on a nature walk, and try to meet some more neighbors. Now that the house is finally settled in it's about time we do that. It would be easier if we already know who Li will be meeting here after all.

Official Document Dear Tahja Estes, I am happy to note that the accomodation you were allocated has now reached a stage which is suitable for your Aerandir items to be placed together within a single bottle. This will allow for them to "merge" - admittedly, however, this process may take some time. The reason I am writing to you is to confirm that we have a name for your Aerandir for our records. Further study of the evidence gleaned from your artifacts has shown that it is 79% likely to be male. I included this information with the hope of perhaps aiding you in choosing a name. If you could get back to me with haste I will arrange for all of the formalities to be completed so that we may start you on your way as an Aerandir guardian. Journal Entry: October 6th It was a difficult choice at first. The three of us had been workshopping for quite some time, but none of the names we came up with seemed to fit quite right...! Finally, though, we've decided to name our Aerandir Li. Kyou suggested the name, and Tessa immediately fell in love with it. A lilttle boy, just like Kami! I'm so excited! Tessa wasn't at all disappointed since she's happy that she'll have a little brother of sorts. This means that once our little one is old enough he'll be sharing Kyou's room. For the time being he'll stay with me. Eventually we'll work on adding a second floor as well. Hm, the news has really gotten the productivity bug moving in me again. For now I need to write the correspondance letter for Mr. Blakewell, letting him know what our decision was.
.//. A new Development_______
Journal Entry: October 12th The contents of the jar have begun to glow! I'd been emersed in reading when I noticed the room seemed a bit brighter. Making my way to the desk I found the jars with the recently merged content have taken on a steady glow! This is fascinating! Tessa has dubbed the jars "Firefly" for the duration of this stage. I intend to start the "Observations" portion of the journal, now.
.//. The Waiting_______
Tessa watched curiously as Tahja settled "Firefly" on the living room table. She'd decided that since the jar began to glow she'd keep it someplace where they could all easily keep watch. They all spent a lot of time in the kitchen area and the living room, and the living room was within view of the kitchen anyhow. The little one was settled there, as a result.
The room was lit by the sun pouring in through the many windows, though that was sinking slowly lower into the sky for rest as well. Sunset wouldn't be very far off from now, and curiosity was mounting in the three family members. What would Li look like, what features from which animals would he have? What was his personality going to be like and would he get along with the three of them? Would he like the gifts they had gathered for him?
"How much longer, Tai??"
"I don't know, Tessa, Li will emerge when he emerges."
"That doesn't tell me anything!"
Tai gave a small glance and a knowing look to Tessa over her shoulder. The mouse girl just humphed and folded her arms in a semi-pout.
".... Well Tessa, you can always help Kyou and I get dinner ready in the meantime?"
But... but...! Sigh. "Alright, I'll help, but I better not miss anything!"
"The quicker we finish, the sooner you can go back to watching." Tai chuckled, handing off some things to Tessa to help prepare.
.//. Prepareations_______
That night of October 13th, two residents of hut 13 went busily to work to prepare Kyou's room for it's new arrival. Tessa volunteered to cook dinner on her own so that the others could get the work done faster. After all the furniture had been rearranged Tahja sat in the living room writing down a new entry in the journal that they kept. No one knew how one person could enjoy reading and writing so much, but Tai claimed that she liked keeping a written log of all the things leading up to Li's arrival, and up until he'd be able to keep the journal for himself. She told them: "I always felt a little closer to my parents, having something to look back on that belonged to them. I'm thankful even today that my mother kept a diary of daily things, I might not even be here if it weren't for that."
That said, it made much more sense, and from that point on they wouldn't question her fascination again.
When dinner was finished (with Kyou'd added help), Tai made herself draw her writing to a close so that the four could enjoy the meal together.
Journal Entry: October 13th You can just about taste the excitement now, I think that even I've been bitten especially hard by the bug of anticipation. Today the four of us (I count Blitz as part of the family, even though he can't speak.) gathered in Kyou's room and began discussing living arrangements again just to be sure we had a solid plan. I don't know, I felt like we needed to have everything settled for Li, before he got here. ..... I just didn't think we'd be preparing an entire one-to-two stages early. ((At this point she reddened but grinned, both amused and sheepish.)) Eventually what Kyou suggested was that they either add another room, another floor, or possibly just divide his room the wide way and put a doored wall down the middle. He explained that he doesn't mind having the back half of the room so that I can have easy acess to Li if needed. Still, I think it did us some good to get it out of our systems. Kyou and I rearranged the furnishing in his room to make room for the second wall. He still has the room to himself for now, but we're going to start working on the wall tomorrow, possibly the day after. I've taken the liberty to order some blankets and some pillows from outside of the islands. Both Tessa and Kyou have things from their childhood, and so do I. I think it's only right that Li does as well. I've been writing a lot lately, but, I know that later on, once you're old enough to read this, you'll enjoy reading about what went on in our lives in your early days just as much as I did with my parents. That's my scincere hope, at least. We can't expect to brighten our futures unless we know where we've been in the past.
.//. The Waiting: Is over??_______
The simple sound of breaking glass is what started it all. In less than an instant that Friday morning, everyone bolted awake and scrambled to the living room, nearly tripping over their own legs in the process. Tessa had her camera, Kyou was in sweats and a black tank top, Tai in boxers and a tshirt and robe, and Tessa-- already dressed. While Kyou and Tai slept in that morning after the work they did the night before, Tessa was already awake and working on something she planned to surprise them with later that day.
Right now, everyone sat on the couch and knelt next to the table and watched the jar in wonderment.
Tessa couldn't surpress an ecstatic squeal as she snapped a photo of the swirling mass of blue light. Tai absently began carefully pushing the broken glass aside with a nearby magazine, while somehow managing not to once tear her eyes away. Kyou simply stared and braced as if waiting for someone to knock him stupid.
Everyone began to hold their breath...
