The clouds of the pride lands were thick and looming, falling over like the drifting fogs on the ground. His dark pelt stood out like blood against bones, the gleam leaving him the portral of a large mass in an empty grave. Naraka was stunned, his eyes wide and his mind a blank from the news he heard just hours before. His mother, his mentor and possibly his best friend, was suddenly replacing him with an unknown number of new blood. She was pregnant.
"How...can this be...?" He suddenly found himself seeing the replacement, his coming of age not a blessing, but a curse to extridite him from the only family he had, the only creatures he loved.
All at once, his legs started to shake, his body falling to the ground as he took one step towards a hard journey ahead, his emotions rocking like a boat in an angry sea. He had no control of his body, his eyes clenched shut to stop the angry, frustrated tears from falling as a paw lifted to cover his black mask.
"Why..." He murmered in a broken sob, seeing his mother not as a saint, but suddenly as a prize he took advantage of, and just lost to a competing stranger.

Ra had heard the news from his parents that his mother was expecting another litter and it had thrown him for six. He had been convinced that their little family would be happily together forever, unchanging, contented. But now these cubs would ruin it all. No longer would it just be the four of them, there'd be other mouths to feed, other attention to be paid. He and Nar would be on their own.
He wandered aimlessly through the mist, considering going to find Na or Ny, see what they had to say on the matter. However, it seemed that he found Na without even looking. A sound nearby drew his attention and he made himself known with a gentle growl.
"Bro?"

A low growl rumbled from his maw, his ears perking and his actions stilling otherwise. All at once, he retracted back into his shell, his eyes still dark but no signs of difficulties left across his face.
"Get the hell away from me..." He hissed out without even looking to see who it was, his back and hairs on edge while his adolecent muscles tightened as if he were about to run. Suddenly the thought crossed him, and he looked past all of the fog and the skulls to where the grasses brushed the death, a sure life and promise of beings before him.
His heart steadily increased at the thought, eyes softening just slightly at the urge to just be free from his parents and never really have to see his younger siblings at all. It was so easy, right before him, and he was well past the age in which most were sent away.
