It was pretty quiet in the duplexes that morning. Soft light filtered in through the slats of the blinds of Alexander Barrett's duplex. The place was only basically furnished, but sported plenty of photographs that sat on the desk or hung from the wall. Most were pictures of exotic locals, usually with an old PBY in the foreground of each. Others were of Alexander, working, or relaxing, usually on the same PBY sea plane. On a coat rack hung next to the door hung a simple leather bomber jacket, and a captain's hat. Resting on the wood desk lay a half recorded record in a flight journal, with a pair of mirrored shades acting as a paper weight. The fridge had been recently stocked with various fish after a busy night.
And what of the rest of the place, the tub was filled with water for Alys, having changed at the bonfire party the night before, and needed the water so she could rest. The bedroom in the duplex was currently occupied by Nick Wolfwood, having curled up there to catch a catnap after helping Alys. Or maybe he had already left by then, since it had been a while since then.
And the owner of the duplex, well he laid face down on the couch, sprawled out in an attempt to sleep off the memories of the previous night and the rum he had consumed. Occasionally he let out a soft mutter, until the light through the window landed upon his head. Part of him dreaded the light as he laid there, but another part, a quiet part inside his head responsed to the light, forcing the ex-pilot to open his eyes. "Uh... stupid need to get up...", he muttered to himself. Weren't tiny grains of instincts grand?

There was silence through the night, darkness, the rustle of feet walking back and forth. The faintest snore from the cat-man, and water rippling as tentacles moved, curling and lapping up the moisture.
As the sun rose, Alys jumped up, gasping for breath. Her eyes opened and she was under the water's thresh hold. She looked around, confused, scared, unsure of her surroundings.
A glance down into the water gave her a slap of reality. And her memories came flashing back to her. She had changed the night before, she was drunk, giving Alex a hug, and it happened. Dark, red, slimey skin greeted her as she moved her toeless feet.
"Oh god..."

Nick was still taking is vastly extended nap on Alex’s bed. The light shining through the curtains on his face slowly forced him awake, his ears flicked a bit and he made a few soft feline clicking noises with his lips as he lifted himself into a seated position. Still half asleep he glanced around the room. ”Who the heck put those there?” as he spotted the photos on the wall, ”those aren’t mine”.
It took a few more moments to remember last nights events. “Oh right” He turned to Alex, unsure if he was awake, “S-sorry”

Alexander slowly pulled himself up from the couch, stretching a bit, causing some of his joints to make popping sounds. He ran his altered hand through the partially feathered mop of hair he had, and slowly made his way to the bathroom. He looked over into the bedroom as he walked, spotting Nick, who seemed to be waking up as well. He muttered something that might have been "thats sokay" if it hadn't been one long string of muttering from him.
It took him a second to remember that Alys had been sleeping in the bathroom the night before. It just stood at the door some, looking like he didn't get too much sleep, his clothes from the night before still being worn, sans the coat of course. "Uh... morning?", he said to her. Great conversationalist he wasn't when it came to being barely awake and totally non-caffienated. But at least he wasn't muttering stuff in Chinese.

Alys jumped slightly, turning to see Alex. Oh god. Oh god oh god oh god I must look horrble. Red and blue eyes blinked at him, trying to smile, but she just couldn't. There wasn't a damn thing to smile about.
"...Morning..." She replied, as quiet as a whisper. She shifted in the tub, moving her half-tentacled legs, as if trying to get out of the tub. She wasn't going to give up. Her legs were stronger than this, she knew it. They had to be.
She discovered webbing had torn her pants, the velvet skin forming a skirt around her. How convenient, she thought bitterly. Wonderful, wearing pants was going to be insanely difficult, if not impossible.
Great! She made it out of the tub, but found she had to sit on the brim.
"Do I look... scary?"

”What did he say”, he his twitched as he tried to figure out what Alex said. He couldn’t make out his muttering, was me mad at him? He didn’t’ leave fur all over the bed did he? His usually cowardice took over, and decided it might be best to make himself scarce.
As Alex left the room, he followed quietly behind him and headed toward the door. He fumbled with the knob, only to realize the damn thing was locked. He very reluctantly peered into the bathroom, trying to pluck up the courage to ask to go outside.

Alexander doesn't usually make a lot of talk this early in the morning, which might be why Nick didn't understand what he said. He looked at Evan as she slowly got up, and asked if she looked scary. He didn't want to say. It was way too early to try and lie, so he looked over his shoulder at the feline who was hiding behind him.
"Huh? Oh, hey. Thanks for the help last night.", he said quietly, rubbing some sleep from his eyes with his 3 fingered hand. "Either of you want something with some caffiene in it?" With the headache he had, he probably could use the caffiene. Was it previously mentioned how good of a conversationalist he wasn't this early?

Alys took his avoiding the question as a 'yes', and nodded to herself. She didn't want coffee, she wanted... Fish. Lots of fish. Would that have been a good idea considering she was hungover from the previous night's drinking? Probably not, but hey, she was hungry.
She stood, wobbley, and took her first few steps. Pop, pop, pop, poppoppop. That was going to drive her crazy. She made it to the sink, and half collapsed, pulling herself up to a standing position, and saw what looked back at her in the mirror.
"Oh god... I... I look like... Oh god..."
Great way to start the day!

Nick almost half flinched when Alex turned to him, only to realize he was being nice.
“Er…n-no thanks.” Nick couldn’t even eat chocolate in his new form, he’d rather not risk drinking something his mind had now labeled as “Human food”. he turned away as Alys saw herself in the mirror, he didn’t want a repeat of how he felt last night.
“It’ll it’ll b-e okay” he said softly as he couched next to Alys, he was always more comfortable like this instead of standing.

Alex nodded to Nick, "Ah, ok." He then looked back over to Alys as she stood up, to look at herself in the mirror. When Nick went over beside her, he could only sigh softly and walk over to her, and put a hand to her shoulder. "Alys..."
Darn, he really didn't want to have to deal with folks freaking out before even one can of coke, but somedays life had a way of making such things an impossiblity. "Come on... lets get you some breakfast...", he said, as he hugged her softly, not wanting to cause her any more issues than she already had. "I stocked up on some stuff last night. I figured you'd need the food."
He reached over and rubbed Nick's ears a bit, not really thinking that he was just petting a human who was turning into a cat and not just the fact he looked like a big cat that needed some scritching as well. "I'm sure you'd probably want some fish too..." At least he didn't have to worry about his guests not being able to eat the same thing.

Alys flinched, looking at him through the mirror. She was shaking, not from shock, but from anger. Those BASTARDS!
No wonder Billy rebelled, Jamal too. She would have to find them... Oh how she would make Moreau pay... Funny how all of a sudden she wasn't alright with what was happening. Here, she thought everything would be alright. Suddenly she realised everything wasn't going to be alright. Not for her.
She was turning into a hideous squid. A squid. She wouldn't even be a mammal by the end of this.
Fish? Did she hear Fish? What was left of her ears twitched, and she nodded again, leaning on the wall as she started walking out the door, watching Nick.
"I hope it'll be okay... I hope so..."

By all accounts, Nick knew he shouldn’t have been enjoying Alex petting him, but me was. ”I shouldn’t be letting him do this, but it does feel….n…nice, and did he say fish?”.
“S-sure!” fish for breakfast did seem a little odd, but judging the current circumstances so did a lot of things. He felt his curl into a smile for the first time in what felt like ages. “of course it’ll be fine!” he beamed, his sudden mood swing probably did seem a little odd to Alex and Alys, maybe it was his change messing with him again.

Alex continued to keep his hand on Alys' shoulder, even as he guessed a bit of an ear scritch could perk up the feline person along with the offer of fish. "It'll be ok Alys. I'm sorry about earlier..." He turned to walk towards the kitchen area, along with the other two.
Once he was sure Alys wasn't going to fall over and was properly seated at the table, he went to the fridge, and started to pull out quite a bit of fish-based food. There were fish patties that needed to be heated up, but also some cans of tuna, a few whole fish in case Alys or Nick might want something a bit more rare. Somewhere inbetween all the items being laid out, Alex had gotten himself a coke, and was downing it quickly, even as he started to fry up some of the fish patties.
"I wasn't quite sure what to get, so I got... uh, a lot. I hope this is ok." The scents and smell of fish probably wafted through the room. It probably didn't make Alex quite as hungry as the other two though, as he opened up some of the cans of tuna since he doubted Nick or Alys could open them without problems.

Alys sat, leaning back on the chair. This was tiresome, but probably more so for Alex, who was kind enough to help her out. She smiled, and watched as he brought out different sorts of fish.
She could feel the squid writhe and squirm, wanting it, and that in turn made her stomach growl. If it wasn't for her skin being dark red, they would have seen her blush.
"Thanks, Alex... I really do appreciate you guys helping me out..." She said, still in a quiet voice, as she reached out and took hold of one of the whole fish, and placed it on a plate. A tentacle reaching into the slit that was across its belly, and pulled out a chunk of fish. She quickly shoved it in her mouth and chewed.
Oh god. Fish has never tasted so good.

Nicks own stomach was growling, he’d developed quite an appetite of anything fleshy. He quick to snatch one o the cans of tuna, fumbling a bit with it’s round shape. He didn’t even brother using cutlery, he just stuck his partial muzzle into the can and lapped up its contents.
“Th-thanks!” he mumbled through his mouth full of fish, his tail swaying back as forth as he grew much happier over the situation. Well, that was breakfast over, so nick began his instinctive ritual of groom himself for the day, starting with his paws.
