Yawgmoth enters the arena silently. No unusual appendages about him, no tail, no rigged sharp teeth, nothing. He appeared as a normal man, while still very tall, and very buff all the same. Clad from head to toe in thick black phyrexian armor plates. No helm on his head and The Purger in his left hand holding the pole arm tightly. If he could not use his powers, he would use his weapons for a change. The standard Phyrexian Battle armor (this way its not magical) and a simple dual sided battle axe. A light smile on his face as he waited for his opponent. "Lucky us.." He said aloud "We get to skip by the first round with no problems"

"That's what you think!" the doors on the other side of the arena swung open with a slam as the mighty dragonewt knight marched out. His thundering footsteps were echoed by the clank of his full-plated armor. Covered from head to toe in his Dragon Scale armor with his mythrill mail underneath. With him he carried his dual gauntlet shield and mighty longsword. "We'll see how long you last without your powers to help."

"We are still the strongest in terms of muscle tension. Because we have the larges muscle mass here. Even without our powers we are more than enough to best a silly fool like you. Now observe." Yawgmoth's right hand took hold of the pole arm that held the Purgers blades. it was very thick and the axe itself was almost as tall as Yawgmoth was and would probably weigh a great deal. Yawgmoth waited no longer and charged skye pulling the axe to his side holding the pole arm with his right. as he neared skye he whirled the axe upwards, caught the pole arm with his left hand and brought it down from above like a massive hammer to both crush and cut skye.

Lord Yawgmoth " We are still the strongest in terms of muscle tension. Because we have the larges muscle mass here. Even without our powers we are more than enough to best a silly fool like you. Now it was Yawgmoth who was the fool. "Rule number one in battle dark lord..." Skyeheart swiftly brought his sword's blade side parallel and upward, catching the axe by the blade's well. Has heavy as the axe was, the leverage the sword made had allowed the dragonewt knight to use much less energy than needed. The blow was immeditately redirected as if Yawgmoth had simply swung a bean bag at him. "Swords always hold the advantage over axes!" Skyeheart gave a powerful sweaping kick, since Yawgmoth needed both hands to wield the axe and had tried to give an upper blow he was now top heavy, and easy to trip.

Swords held the advantage in terms of speed and ability to be manuevered. Not in terms of force and weight. The sher weight, combined with the force of gravity and power with which Yawgmoth swung would snap the sword like a toothpick. It was like a beam of wood trying to stop a heavy weight from falling. It just didn't work. It was simple physics. Breaking Skye's sword the axe would then proceeded downward with the force and crash into Skye's head.

Swords were indeed more fragile than axes...at certain points. The trick to beating axes was using their own weight against them, and being that swords produced the best leverage when parrying, they were the best weapon choice to use. Especially since axes had one major design flaw, a cut to the pole and they would be useless! Following his rolling kick, Skyeheart leaned back and used the axe's momentum to pull Yawgmoth forward. Then, rolling back, he moved his sword out of the well lock in the axe's blade and flung Yawgmoth at the wall.

((OOC: It'd be too late for Skye to do anything by now. He already committed suicide by trying to block the axe in that manner. The sword will break under the crushing force of the axe, and then it will continue down onto his head cracking his skull open from the force of impact. Gravity pushes downward onto the axe as the overhead swing comes down making it slow only by a milisecond or two after the sword snaps. Since we cannot have inhuman reaction speeds and the sword cannot contain any magical properties in this division. Skyeheart will befall the following fate: Yawgmoth swings axe overhead, skye puts sword up to block, axe rips through sword continues downward path splitting skye's skull open. Game over. Now, if he's wearing a helm, you're still looking at a concusion which will still end the fight in two or three posts.))

And he didn't block it. He redirected the blow by using the sword to fill in the well of the axe and then yanking it towards him to change it's direction. You know how inersia works right?)

((OOC: there can't be anything super special about the sword in this division or it'd be violating the rules. It's a simple broadsword yes? or of the broadsword vairety. Then even fitting it into the well of the axe would put the pressure and force of impact on the blade. Forcing the pressure down to the hilt where the tension on the blade is the weakest (the spot where it was welded usually) and snap it there. Not where the axe hit. Still, you can't expect to block an double sided battle axe weighing anywhere from 80 - 100lbs with a broadsword and it just 'stop' in motion. It's going to break, bend, or otherwise ruin the broadsword.))

And if you're telling me this then your weapon would break too! Being top heavy, axes are weakest where the blade fits on the pole, exactly where the sword connected with it. Accounting gravity into the force, the blade of the axe would have snapped off and gone flying from an impact like that!)

((OOC: and by your statement "sword parallel and upward," one would assume parallel to mean perfect parallel, since you didn't say so otherwise, to the ground which would indicate the axe was connected by the flat side of the sword, NOT the blade. Not to mention a longsword is NOT as durible as a broadsword. Broadswords are shorter, but much thicker in blade density than a longsword. A longsword would snap EASIER than a broadsword since the blade is longer, thererfore thinner leaving less tension resistence to the metal. So then, If we're going to play this game right, let me correct my understanding of your parallel to mean blade side. This would mean, the following would happen. Yawgmoth swings axe overhead, skye blocks with the blade of the longsword NOT the flatside. The weaker tension strength of the longsword causes it to break from force of impact, at the same time, force of impact on a blade causes the head of the axe to fly at a downward arc arcing just over Skye's shoulder and landing behind him on the arena. This leaves yawgmoth with a sturdy pole arm. Skye with a broken sword. and yawgmoth with a kick at his lower section headed his way.))

(Okay, I'll be more specific next time!) As Skyeheart watches his blade shatter and Yawgmoth's axe snap. His blow to Yawgmoth's leg connects from the left side, tripping Yawgmoth. Taking advantage of this Skyeheart piledrives his left arm at Yawgmoth's right shoulder. "Looks like it's hand to hand from this point on Yawgmoth..."

((no, i didnt. But your kick's assumption fails now that the head of the axe is gone, The majority of the top heaviness goes away with the head of the axe.))
Yawgmoth did not have the top heaviness as he did before seeing as the head of the axe flew off. Skye would've been better off with a straight kick than one from the side. Not to mention the armor he wore absorbed most of the blow. Yawgmoth stumbled to the right being pushed that way from the force of the kick. "Wrong, we still have this" Though it did not have any blades on it, he still gripped the pole arm in his hands and let go of it with his left hand. It would only take one hand to use it as a staff like weapon now that the weighted blades were gone. He spun it around and swung it towards Skye's head.

But Skyeheart wasn't outmatched yet, far from it. His blade was broken, but his shields weren't! He swung his right shield guantlet upward, cracking the polearm with recoil force while still using his left guantlet to smash into Yawgmoth's shoulder. The shoulder that held his free hand. "You may be strong, but I out-experience you in close combat by centuries!"
