I had bought HM-A Wonderful Life preowned today and when I popped it in my game cube, the disc stopped spinning and made a kind of clicking noise and then had the disc error thing come up and start spinning again. All my other games work fine. crying

Gotta love pre-owned games, eh?

I'm really not sure what the problem could be. Some games just don't like to be played on certain systems, and the other games would be happy too.

Yeah, I can't give you any advice, it's never happened to me.

Thats weird.

Go get a refund.

That happened to my friend...he bought a gamecube off another friend, then HM brandnew and it did that with that game.

We found out later that it was actually his gamecube was crap (dont trust $35 gamecubes)....so he got a new one blaugh

eek . I don't think I've even heard of a GC ever giving a disc read error...

The closest thing to this I've seen was when one of my friends let someone borrow Metal Gear Ac!d for PSP, and when he got it back it didn't work. Now it turns out the game is busted and he is going to try and make the guy pay for the game.

But I've never heard about this on a Nintendo system. Try looking at the disc in the light and see whether you see scratches on it. If there are a lot of scratches, then that could be a very good reason.

It happens in every console. Every console uses the same technology to read the disks and electronics are never perfect, so they are all liable to disc read errors.

One time, Tales of Symphonia gave me a DRE. That's because I ate some potato chips before I handled the disc. Didn't bother to wash my hands.

Other than that, nope.

I had to swab the lens of my Gamecube once with a Q-tip because it had some disk reading errors. After that it worked fine, it was just a bit of dust.

I think the problem is obviously the game, HM:AWL is known for being the glitchiest game out for the Gamecube. I'd just wait for the girl remake of HM:AWL if I were you.

And another thing, even if you do get the disc to work, more than likely a glitch will ensue. All the cows in my farm are rotating right now, I can't milk them.

Ehhg, nasty nasty. Ah well, at least it's only the one game.

I'm lucky. never had a DRE on my system. Although several games have frozen. I freaked out when Metroid Prime froze. Wish I had known about the issue with that game back when I had the problem. Also I once had MGS: TS freeze, but aside from those issues, I've never had a problem.

My sister can't use the action replay disk I have on her GC though. I have no idea why that is. It works on mine. Lucky thing for her she has a wonderful bro who unlocks everything in the game withought cheats anyway, so she can just copy the data.
I love to brag about how cool I am 3nodding

My Super smash bros. melee gave me a disk read error once. Probaly because my brother left it out of its case and put it under a couch for a few months. But it works fine now.

Hehe, nice.

My GC has never given me a disc read error... Only my PS2 does that (Ha! Take that, Sony!)
