Just came back from seeing a special screening of the original "Nightmare on Elm Street."
Seeing it on the big screen was great. heart
My two favorite parts: Glen's (Johnny Depp) blood fountain bed and Freddy pulling Nacy's mom through the window at the end of the film.
And speaking of horror...
My top ten (ever changing) horror picks are:
1. Dario Argento's Deep Red. 2. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (original, not those crap re-makes) 3. The Hellraiser series (with Hellbound: Hellraiser 2 as my favorite) 4. Re-Animator 5. Friday the 13th series (Jason Takes Manhattan as my favorite) 6. Nightmare on Elm Street series (Dream Warriors as my favorite) 7. George A. Romero's Living Dead series (Day of the Dead as my favorite) 8. Candyman (ONLY 1 and 2..the 3rd was awful) 9. Creepshow 1 & 2 10. Session 9

Hmm. Of the movies on that list, I've only seen Reanimator and two of the Romero movies (Day & Land of the Dead). Only saw Reanimator because I was a fan of Lovecraft; thought it was more funny than anything else. Jeffrey Combs' acting is just hysterical in that weird Bruce Campbell kind of way. blaugh
Couldn't quite get into Day of the Dead because of the 80's-style cheesiness of it all. Especially that corny synth music in the background. Land of the Dead was pretty good. Nice to see how zombie society evolves as the series progresses.
I also liked Shaun of the Dead, though that was more comedy than horror. Simon Pegg!!! pirate

Lots of horror films have cheeseball synth music. rofl I like zombie movies in general, so yeah, I dig Shaun of the Dead.

I don't mind horror in its most basic form - i.e. a movie that sets out to creep you out. I can't stomach slasher flicks though. I'd much prefer to watch The Grudge, or Dark Water or Ringu. I like the horror to be psychological, rather than visual.

Stresshog I like zombie films. Particularly George A. Romero's Living Dead series. Day of the Dead features some of the best zombies-eating-humans parts that I have ever seen. razz

What's better, Romero's Dawn of the Dead, or the recent remake? I've only seen the remake... I thought it was okay. Some of the zombies were rather... athletic. Not at all like the walking stiffs they are in Romero's movies.
I've also seen both Resident Evil movies. Somehow I think the director missed the point... instead of making a horror movie, he made an action movie with zombies. It was all rather silly, really.

Roobarb I like Evil Dead 2. It makes me laugh. I have all three movies on DVD (Evil Dead 1 & 2, Army of Darkness). Ash rocks! The continuity between the 3 movies is a complete and utter mess. In fact, one either has to assume that the 1st movie was ignored by ED2, or Ash is one sick b*****d for taking his new girlfriend to the same haunted house...
