The river's edge should have been too dangerous for a lone pup, and had she known better Izulu'umdansi likely would have stayed far away from the area. She didn't know, however, and she was thirsty. Without the slightest thought to the mud at the waters edge, she stepped into it and giggled at the squish beneath her paws. Mud was impossibly fun, and the hyena couldn't help a few bounces about the shore line in the stuff. When that energy had been mostly expended, the pup lowered her muzzle to the muddy water and drank from it without a second's thought.

It seemed an extraordinary amount of luck favored the pup, for the crocodiles, though they were there, were either full or not paying attention to what would have been a small meal indeed for one of their bulk. The pup played with the mud a little more, before she trotted off into the jungle again. Her stomach rumbled, but she paid it little mind.. after all, she was always hungry. In the end, it had become just something Izulu had to ignore if she was going to live life with any idea of happiness. Besides, that complaint had been there so often she thought it was normal by now.

Still, to ease its grumblings she caught herself a few large bugs. That being the basis of her diet in general, among the very little she could steal from some of the smaller scavangers about. Even that wasn't too easy. Regardless of her relatively hard life, the pup still managed to be strangely "rainbows and butterflies" most of the time.

Even now, as she chased down a butterfly that looked like it would taste like sunlight, Izulu sang a merry little song of nonsense, wherein an occassional word was understandable, usually an object in nature, but most of it was simple gibberish.

Chocolate tipped feet tapped over the ground as Paki fidgited with the mud that squished between them. He could tell he was near water, though what kind he wasn't quite sure, his silvery eyes shimmered, though they couldn't see a thing. Ears pricked forward and he walked quickly now, though before he had walked so slowly that it was a little confusing and painful to watch.

A song caught one of his chocolate ears and the cub lifted it, turning his head so that he could hear it more. It wasn't a voice tha the'd heard before, but then he'd never met everone in his pride yet, so doubtless this was one of them.

Trotting off in that direction, the vanilla cub made sure that he made as much noise as he possibly could. Paki knew that suprising people wasn't fun, he didn't like it when it happened to him, so why should others like it?

The noise distracted Izulu quite easily, for it sounded (to her mind) almost like an elephant tramping through the jungle. The distraction let her intended breakfast get away, but curiosity created yet another distraction to keep Izulu from getting mad. With a yip, the puppy dived under a bush to watch for the loud creature that was headed towards her.

Eventually she spotted the bit of vanilla fluffblall, her eyes widening in sheer surprise. What WAS that?! Her mind raced, for she had never seen a lion cub up close and thus had no relation to it in her mind. Whatever it was, it didn't look at all dangerous, and the pup grinned happily. Slinking out from her hiding place, she padded over to sniff at the creature's hide.

Her examination eventually included a slow circle around the cub, her eyes taking in every detail about him, and the occasional prod of her cold nose against one part or another as she took deep breaths of his scent. "HI!" She chirped happily during this, not at all concerned that she was being rude, "What are you?"

An aura was suddenly beside him, enough of one that made the fur on the back of his shoulders stand straight up in a sort of panick because he couldn't say that he knew them. Paki knew every aura of every lion that he'd ever met, he'd memorized them, how warm they were, what they smelled like, how large their bodies seemed compared to his own.

This one he didn't know, and the tail was bushier than anything he'd ever met before, and the ears larger. Lifting one of his paws, since he'd frozen mid step, Paki sniffed and smelled the smell of another creature.

But he had to admit, despite everything he knew, the cub didn't expect that kind of reaction to come in a million years. Even his own brother wasn't this happy. The very volume of her voice, since he could tell it was female, nearly knocked him from all four of his feet.

"Uh... hello? I'm... a lion? What're you? You don't feel or smell like a lion." Paki said smoothly to her, his eyebrow lifted despite his inability to see. The little cub kept both eyes set forward, never turning his head to even face her.

"What... am I?" Izulu blinked, not having expected the question to be turned back on her. Her purple eyes blinked back at the cub who she'd yet realized was blind or in any way 'disabled'. The title he'd given himself also rolled about somewhere in her purple coloured form, but it didn't really seem to mean anything to her. Most creatures she knew by sight, rather than name.

"I am... I am an Izulu!" Her voice turned happy again as she figured it out. She leaned in, licking up his nose in a random action then bounced a little about him as her mood took a strange U-turn from confusion straight back into an insane amount of happiness. "You're a strange looking creature, Lion, but I like you." That announcement came with a bounce, then Izulu dropped down onto her forepaws and waved her butt and tail in the air, "Would you like to play?"

"Well then, Izulu, it's nice to meet you, whatever you are." Paki said with a chuckle and sniffed at her.

Of course it wasn't as if he could see her bouncing in front of him, but the play statement made both of his chocolate ears fell down to his sides. He knew what playing was, he knew that he loved it, but as unrealistic as he was all the time, Paki also knew that he couldn't do it that well.

"Yeah, I like to. You just have to be a little.... loud when we do." Paki said with a smile and sat down, facing her, or at least what he figured was her.

"LOUD?" Izulu barked, bouncing up and in place. It was likely he could hear the sounds of her paws hitting the dirt in front of him, even despite the volume of her voice. "I can do that!" The pup bounced happily about the cub once more, breaking bracken and packing down the forest loam as she did. There wasn't any way he could miss her this time, "What should we play? What should we play?"

Izulu stopped for a moment, faced with her own question. Her tail drooped into the leaves for a moment. It didn't take long for it to lift back up, ,however, and she grinned, "I know! We can play chase! TAG!" With that the hyena pressed her nose against his, then took off running through the braken, leaving a clear sound trail in the undergrowth.

Well now, that was certainly loud enough for him. Both of his ears pricked up in a little bit of confusion and he took a few steps towards Izu slowly, his head leaned to one side in a cat-like manner of question. Then he smelled her get much closer and a cold nose was pressed to his warm one.

Laughing a little sheepishly, Paki flicked his ears completely forward and ran after her as best he could.

"Hey wait up!" He called out, his chocolate tipped paws racing over the ground as his nose raced just as fast, keeping track of everything around him. A twig snapped under one paw and he jumped but didn't stop, narrowly avoiding a tree to his left by leaning his head to one side and letting his belly rub over it.

She was a little far ahead of him right now, but Paki figured that somehow he could catch her, somehow he could sniff her out.

Izulu nearly didn't stop. She reached the side of a high cliff then, and stopped dead in her tracks. Up and up the little pup looked, working up onto her hind legs to crane up further. It wasn't too long before the pup tipped over completely, landing on her back then rolling to the side in a giggle fit. The cub likely had enough time to catch up to her by now, but she'd seemed to have completely forgotten about that.

When he did come up, crashing through the jungle bottom, the pup sat up again, ears perked. SHe clamped her paws over her muzzle as she remembered their game. A fiendish light spread into her eyes then, and she got up quietly, moving to try and sneak around behind Paki.

"BOO!" She barked a moment later, jumping up behind him and trying to give his ear a playful nibble.

Almost yelping in suprise, Paki toppled onto the ground chest first. His white fur melded into the dirt and became brown, darker than his stipes and paws and ears. One of his chocolate tipped ears were tugged at and he giggled brightly, rolling over and wrapping his legs around her to keep her still for a moment. The little cub put his nose close to hers and chuffed slightly, all of his whiskers curling forward so he could tell what she looked like.

From what he could tell she was very VERY different, but he liked different. HE was different. Different was what made everyone that much better.

Rolling so that she was beneath him, Paki tapped the end of her muzzle with one of his chocolate paws and grinned playfully. "Tag!" He crowed and bolted off into the trees again.

The upset didn't matter to her too much. On her back in the dirt, Izulu kept struggling with him as she giggled. She still hadn't seemed to realize that her companion was any different than another of the creatures that looked like him. Izulu gave a soft bark when his paw descended upon her muzzle, and laughed when he raced off into the forest. This was the most fun she'd had in ages, since most other creatures didn't seem inclined to play with her.

Rolling up onto her feet again, Izulu gave chase. It was a little different trying to follow someone than it was leading, but her nose was inclined to tell her the way. She remained behind Paki for a good while before she caught up, giving a jump to tackle him once more. "Tagggggyyy tagtag tag!" She yelped and laughed as they tumbled once more in the foliage.

She was having a very good time with him, but it was growing late. The pup playfully bit about his neck, knowing his fur would be thick enough to stop any damage she could potentiall do, at least at this stage of life. The game of tag was quickly transforming into a more rough-n-tumble that could have looked strange or even malicious to an adult.

Giggling and running at a breakneck speed over the jungle floor, only to be tackled and bitten. It didn't matter to him however, laughter just escaped from his muzzle and he rolled over to n** back at her somewhat larger ears.

This was fun, he didn't normally get to hang out with anything that was willing to rough house with him, though he loved to rough house himself. Had Tanashita or Kifijo seen this at all they'd have freaked out and hurt Izulu, though Paki would have stood between them and her. He wasn't a weakling, he wasn't a pushover, and he wasn't useless. He could see with his nose and his ears just as well as anyone else could see with his eyes.

However, right now he simply tugged at her ears and pawed at her chest lightly in amuzement. This was the best time he'd ever had.

Izulu growled playfully, pawing at his fur while her claws slid harmlessly through it. She wasn't a cat, she couldn't retract them, but they wouldn't harm anyone unless she wanted them to. The pup released her grip on his throat to lick at his cheeks in that wet-puppy fashion. Of course, she was a puppy of a sort. The hyena rolled them so that she was on top and barked once. "Hehehehe, You're all wet!" of course he was, she'd made him that way.

Something scarlet and yellow flew out of a bush up ahead, taking the little Hyena's attention away with it. She tripped over him and herself as she stumbled towards the bird, then stopped and looked back at him with a happy bark, "Lets go catch that thinger!" A few bounces later, the Hyena was up and running again, making as much noise as a thousand tap-dancing elephants.

Not used to being licked in such a manner unless he was being cleaned by his mother, Paki made a slight face and batted back at her. His white chest fur was clawed straight as if he were being combed by a dull brush and it made him giggle from how much it tickled him.

"Being wet is fun sometimes." Paki said, though he did normally dislike water quite a bit. At least the whole swimming part because he never knew how deep it was.

"Catch what?" Paki called after her as she ran off, both of his chocolate ears followed the noise she made and he darted after her. Izulu was fast, but then Paki was normally slow as could be.
