*blink* I don't know what to make of this thread. It's subjective; exactly how good do you think we are? And some of us aren't as good as others, it's a case-by-case thing. You didn't even state that you're talking about musical skill, we just assumed that, because this is the BNG.
I should just lock this now, but I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt. You have one weekend to prove to me that this thread contributes to the guild in some way.

I would have to say, it really depends on the reputuation. Like in Texas, band is a big deal and everyones pumped up so it rocks. But in some areas here in MI, band is like Whatever, (wich sucks) so its not as good.

in my school in ontario, canada, we have the bunch of students who are really dedicated to band and practice a lot and the bunch who aren't as dedicated and the bunch who just don't care. we have a really good BD but it's more up to the students to make the band sound good. unfortunately, our more dedicated and very talented band members are graduating this year T__T
but not every school in ontario is like that. i actually haven't heard any other bands in this province play o_o

High school students are the best (besides a few people) (maybe more than a few) (oh well) (the best just sounds better)

high school is a few steps below being the "best" because technically we cant be the best since we are only in high school
if we were so good in high school, what would we be in life outside of high school...the best in the world?...
thats not possible because some college bands are very dedicated to their work ((take UW-Madison Marching Band for instance)) and are so much better than high school
outside of college bands, there are professional bands that work hard to actually make the music so that we can play it...
if high school students were the best...why aren't we writing such awesome compositions? why aren't we writing symphonies, operas, and just fun music bands enjoy playing?
i have no offense against high school students thinking they're the best...for crying out loud, im one, a freshman at that ((soon to be sophomore mrgreen ))
i just dont wanna be egotistical...we cant possibly be the best otherwise...who would we look at to be our role models? a high schooler who thinks he knows what hes doing only after a few years of playing the instrument?
who do you think is the best, the high schooler or professional?
((sorry for the babbling rolleyes ))

Well I cannot say that it does seem that High Schoolers are better, but it is only that way because we have more experience. And some cases we are pushed really hard.
