This roleplay is for AnimeChickie & Mintaka.
---+---
It was sliding on towards dusk, the sun barely flirting with the horizon at the time Xemnas was walking about the forest's edge. While not prowling, he certainly wasn't skulking, nor slinking along. He had too much pride and will for such things, but was not letting his guard down. Word of something worse then even his own kind, a kind which was more violent and was making issues even for his own kind...
He wasn't about to be attacked and bested just yet. But he certainly wasn't going to hide away, either. If anything, he wouldn't mind encountering either his own kind, or perhaps some lesser to have fun with. A little torment and a little 'information gathering' was never a bad thing.
After all, if the Kalona were going to be looked at badly, and perhaps still soemwhat blamed for the Skinwalker's work, why not give a little back what they want to believe and think?
Fools, the lot of them, he thought with a slight bitterness. He ahd avoided much of the chaos when the village had been attacked, watchign from a safe distance, but... it didn't lessen his concerns. The 'two-leggers' - what a strange way to term the humans - were still a scared, violent lot.
Different world, similarities all the same. He snorted, pausing to take in his surroundings.

Prowling in the darkness, Heartless lurked. She was rather bored on this particularly dark evening. But she was enjoying the atmosphere. It was quiet except for a few birds and she felt like terrorizing somebody...
She easily lived up to her name. It was easy to see that her heart was gone or it was hidden long ago. Her demonic tail flickered back and forth as she stood underneath a tree. The mare kalona stretched her bat-like wings lazily and looked around again. Her jet black hair cascaded down her shoulders as the sun continued to set.
Hm. I wonder who I can terrorize on this fine night.

Had be been any less attentive he would have missed her, mistaking the golden glow of orbs to be some owl perching low, but the movement and size were too wrong to be a simply creature. No... it was another.
He paused a moment, picking her out fo the shadows a bit more. She was as black as the pure ngiht, almost equally as dark as Maeryn but lacking even color in the wings - aside one mark, which he picked out and almost inhaled loudly and sharply.
He knew that mark. He'd seen it before, and there couldn't be any mistaking it, could it? He approached slowly, carefully, and tried to remain visible as he walked closer, making sure he wasn't seeing things.
Something familiar, too mcuh so to eb merely coincidence. Was it... was she... a heartless? From where he'd come? Here?

As her eyes glanced around the area she noticed another kalona. Interesting... She hadn't seen another kalona besides that brilliant ruby colored one at the Indian Burial grounds. Very interesting indeed. Why did he look familiar too? Perhaps she had met him before? No. She couldn't of...
Heartless soon realized that he had spotted her. She looked back at him, her golden yellow eyes seemed to glow in the darkness as if she was gaining power from her surroundings.
She said nothing and would wait to see what he did.

He would not be intimidated, fi that was her objective, and stopped about seven feet shy of her, keeping a steady, even stance that gave no indication of fear or backing down, even. He could play this game, as well, and had before coming here.
"Greetings," he said calmly, watching her movements for signs of potential attack. "You seem... familiar in a way," he continued, voice smooth and even. "As though you're not from 'here' - but from another place. I've seen that ... mark... before. I know I have. Who are you?" A slight demand, but perhaps there was more to ehr then he knew, some sleight of mind or illusion, or simply a change to disguise a truth. Enemies were known to guise in appearances other then their own to strike, after all...
"I am Xemnas." His eyes narrowed slightly, keeping focused on her. She couldn't use his lack of intruduction against her now at least. Did she know of Maeryn's herd? And of the others who came? And who all did? Or was there more to her?

Heartless just stood there gazing at the stallion with little to no curiousity at all. Or so it seemed. Very intriguing he was.
"Greetings. Familiar? I must say the same about yourself." She paused and continued to stare at him with a rather blank expression. "You don't seem like you're from this place either." She spoke as little as possible and kept a monotonous voice. "My name is of no importance but if you must know, I go by Heartless." Perhaps she had a name... somewhere but she had probably long forgotten it. She said no more, and she made no move to leave the darkness she was currently in. For now, it was best to keep him guessing.

So, then she was as she looked, and likely would never know. Did they ever know their past? Likely not, as most were conisdered of no consequence at all. Brushed aside ... yet he'd hd a goal to bring them all back 'to the lgiht' as some might have said.
But they were here now, far from any potential achievements. "Heartless you say," he mused a moment, looking at her idly. "I admit, I'm not from this world. Although I don't see any way back, either, so I make do with the situation." His tail flciked slightly, letting his mind wander a moment.
Neither of them seemed willing to give up too much, but that was likely their way - both missing something perhaps and not willing to give up any more and lose that too. "I'm surprised, to say the least, to find another out here. While I know I was not the ... only one taken from the world... I'd not expected to cross the path of another."

It was getting rather dark, and soon it would be dark enough for her to come out into the light and still feel strong. "I guess you could put it that way. There are others? How interesting... Very interesting." She began to wonder who else he could be talking about. Somehow... this didn't seem very surprising to her.
"Tell me. What do you think of this place? What do you see?"

He mulled over the question presented, watching her. "I find this world very different, vibrant with life that remains mostly untainted. Aside a few, those like ourselves in appearance, those who are more dark..."
His eyes narrowed slightly. "And then something more vicious, and cruel exists as the word goes. It is like before things... happened, in the other world. It's soemwhat disgusting to watch, at times. Envy, I suppose, in a way. Watching others enjoy things I will never have now." There was a slight, soemwhat disgusted, sigh.
"But I suppose I'll have to deal with this world as much as the last. I can't say I hate it, but I certainly don't wholly love it, unless it involves proving to others they are still lesser despite what they may have." A slight quirk of the mouth, almost into a smirk. "What do you think of this place we've been cast to? I'm curious to know."
He wasn't about to let drop he'd known Sora had been dragged here too - he'd seen the other in a glimpse during the suddne shift, but lost track too quickly. Still, if he was, now a Heartless as well... it was likely they were not the only ones.

"Fascinating." Of course she saw this world in a completely different way. Immersed in their own greed and darkness. Someday... she could see it. Someday it would consume them until they were like her.
"What is it that you will never had?" Heartless tilted her head curiously. What made him different then the other soquili where he couldn't have something they did?
"This world. This world makes me laugh." Of course it was a heartless one but laugh nonetheless. "They're going to be consumed in their own darkness soon. And I will enjoy the day when they are just like me." She continued to wait... for the darkness of the night.

For a moemnt he considered that question almost mocking of his situation, but threw that aside. He was merely being touchy, being reminded too much of things. "I lack... something. Somethign I can never find now." His eyes narrowed slightly. "I am sure one like you would not know perhaps of the 'nobodies' as some called us."
An anger was kindling - not so much at her, but at those who were able to be whole, to have the ability to be of the light or dark truly, and not shunned way for a lack of heart. But perhaps this was nto a 'weaknes's but a strength now in this world.
Yet, the yearned woul not cease, an unrelenting pain within crying out to be whole, to have a full grasp and understanding of things, to know what it was like again. "Some might say... I lack a heart. Perhaps... perhaps here, as I am, that may not be so bad... but that doesn't stop the longing all the same." A slight growl accompanied the statement, his temper flaring a moment. "Seems even ehre, I am shunned for how I am somehow."

Raising a brow, Heartless continued to watch him. "Interesting." She began to think that she knew what he was missing but couldn't get but she did not comment on it.
Listening to him intently, ah so she had guessed correctly. "You know I have no heart. Or you at least probably guessed. I'm not called Heartless for my health." Heartless paused slightly, "You think too much." She put it simply and then grinned as it was finally dark enough. Finally emerging from her spot in the shadows, the red tie on her braided hair was visible and so was the red symbol on her forehead.
She moved with a whimsical grace towards him. The kalona circled him. "Like I said, the beings here... They're encompassed with their own hatred and greed. Are you surprised that you are shunned here? You should know that you are not alone."

He watched her closely, a bit untrusting. She knew what she was doing, and he wasn't about to let ehr get the drop on him. "Oh, I figure that," he said with a certain blandness, "but it doesn't remove the reminders of missing something still. I may not feel like that do, but I can still make them think it."
He watched ehr with half-lidded eyes, circling. "I suppose you, as well, are cast aside, for being a 'kalona'? Something 'dark'? Yes, I presume some pretend to think they know the dark, and some... ha. They're as foolish here as ever, I suppose. But perhaps, birds of a feather and all that... a sad thing they would discard us so easily perhaps without a thought. I would take delight in teachign them the error of that way."

The kalona nodded and grinned mischieviously. "Unlike you. I have no past so I have no reminders. I just think of the present day and live life on watching from the shadows... waiting..." Heartless had a somewhat... menacing voice, but she still kept monotonous.
"They do not understand. And their lack of understanding will be their downfall just like their own darkness will." She paused and stopped in front of him, "They do not know darkness until they've been there." She had a hiss going through her voice as she spoke.

Xemnas felt a smile touching his features, listening to her. They were different, yet alike, and these points were making themselves clear enough - yet there was something in her words which sparked thoughts.
He barked a laugh, focusing his eyes on her completely. "Well, yes, most here are fools - those who haven't already felt the dark's caress and giving into such." He shook his head slightly then, becoming more passive in stance and expression.
"I doubt anyone's atempt to educate them - by that foolish little Keyblade Master or otherwise - woudl save them. They're too ignorant to learn." She'd sparked some thoughts, one's which he was giving consideration in his mind. He wasn't able to 'fix' the problem, but then why not mkae others feel such? To know the feeling somewhat, and bring them 'down to his level' if they shunned him for what he was?
And she - she had a certain potential, one somewhat untapped, and a directed intelligence with goals. Ones that were still achievable.
