We're supposed to go to heaven when we die right? So why does it say in Revelations, the dead in christ will rise first?

I believe this refers to the Rapture. When Jesus returns, those who are physically dead will come out of the ground (not sure of this myself) and will be given new, glorious bodies. Then, those who are physically alive in Christ will rise and get the same thing. In other words, those who are in heaven right now, only their souls/spirits are there, but not there bodies. When Christ returns, He will call up the bodies and make them new. And since those that are alive don't have to pass thru the ground, He just calls them up and gives them the new bodies too. Hope this helps! sweatdrop

Actually, God shares that once He finishes Heaven, Christ shall come to bring us home (so Heaven is not yet finished). So, maybe, the souls are resting on this earth? ^_^ I'm not sure how all that works, but using the New King James Holy Bible to investigate the passed souls' location would be intersting. ^__^
