This is a private arpee [RP, whatever you people call it] between the moody Ravi and the adorable Nalani. :3 Nobody but me and the Lovely Wolf Guardian psoting, please~
Ravi jammed a hoof into the soft ground, rolling it around until the squishes and squelches filtered into his pointed ears. It gave him satisfaction to hear the mud voicing in - well, not words, but voicing - the way Ravi felt. Spending the night cuddled up to a scraggly pine tree with a pillow of needles during a thunderstorm (which you happen to be afraid of) was not the best way to spend a Saturday.
Extracting his hoof from the soil with a loud sqllluck!, Ravi marched on through the soggy plain he found himself in, scowling at the sky and wishing he was cool.

Crystal blue eyes followed a couple of graceful butterflies dancing from one flower to another. Nalani watched as the pretty little insects moved around her gracefully. She had noticed that her wings resembled the wings of the butterflies. Her ears flickered back and forth as they flew closer to her. Suddenly one of the little creatures landed on her nose, Nalani snorted but it didn't budge. She narrowed her eyes at it and quickly shook her head. It seemed to work...but the determined critter just rested on one of her ears.
Nalani groaned in a bit of annoyance and flicked her ear several times. Not finding it good resting place, the butterfly flew away.

Why was he afraid of thunderstorms, anyway? Ravi's inner voice scorned him (How d'you expect to be a good sneak if you can't even grow a spinal cord?) and Ravi was so wrapped up in his internal bashing that the next thing he knew he was seated unceremoniously on his rump and sporting a very smarting nose.
Confused, Ravi wiggled his protesting nose, checking twice to make sure nothing was broken and yes, he could still smell things, before glancing up at...
.. a unicorn? No, wait - it had butterfly wings. Ravi blinked, jaw agape, shoulders slack. He didn't know what to classify this thing as. So, being Ravi, he asked the most obvious question.
"What are you?"

Startled, Nalani whipped her head around and met the eyes of a young colt. He seemed to be confused by the sight of her.
"Um, hi...uh....What am I? I don't really know that myself."
Being in a basket for a while and finally coming out to find no one around didn't help much. There were so many things she didn't know of. She didn't know what she was.
Nalani looked down and pawed at the ground, "Do you know anyone who could tell me?"

Not know what she was? How could you not know what you were? Ravi knew he was obnoxious from others' depictions of him, so.. maybe he could do the same for this lady!
"I can tell you," Ravi said, standing up and giving his nose a last good snort before facing the small filly.
Unfortunately for Ravi, anything that came out of his mouth was almost always exceptionally rude.
"You're a horse, dummy. With..." Ravi made a vague gesture with his hoof, "wing thingies. Isn't it obvious?"

The lost filly tilted her head to the side and looked at him, "A horse? Wing....thingies? That's what I am?"
She swung her tail to the side, still wondering what on earth she was.
"Um....where did we come from? I was in some box thingy all alone. How about you?"
Her eyes wondered over the colt, fasinated by his coloring and markings. "Those look cool!"

Well... maybe a horse with wing thingies (and a long tail, his mind added) was a bit too much to say. Ravi thought for a moment; what else was he besides obnoxious and little? Oh!
"I've got it!" Ravi crowed, a grin splitting his face. "What's your name? 'Cause that's what you are."
Box thingy? Uhh.. Ravi opened his mouth to continue speaking when it dropped into a puzzled frown at the girl's actions. What was she doing? Honestly, all he had to flaunt were designs that looked like somebody (colorblind) had sloshed berry juice all over him. Cool? They weren't --
She - she just called him cool?
Ravi's blood rushed to fill up his face. He had dreamed for so long of being cool and here somebody confirmed it! He was cool!
"Y-yeah, well," Ravi cleared his throat mightily, willing his blush to die down and trying his best to be the cool he so desperately wished he was, "what'dja expect?"
This lady - whoever she was - just won a lot of brownie points in Ravi's book.

"Huh? My name?" Nalani smiled, "It's Nalani, what's yours?"
The innocent filly looked around and realized that this colt must also alone. She wondered if it would bother him if she asked about it.
"Hey, are you here all by yourself? Or are you with someone? Um...," she blushed a bit and looked away, "I'm alone and I was wondering if I could hang around with you. I don't like being by myself....especially since I don't know this place."
Nalani lowered her head and started running her right hoof across the ground...waiting for him to reject her.

Nalani, huh? Well. He supposed he'd heard funkier names before; Ravi decided it was an acceptable - even nice - name. "Mine's Ravi," he said with a flourish, dipping down into a bow before smoothly uprighting himself. Hey, he thought to himself, getting called cool must boost your cool status. Wicked!
Ravi blinked at the filly and her wandering hoof, wondering just how many mood swings this lady could pull. For Ravi, being alone was expected. He never seeked company; it rolled right onto his metophorical doorstep and rang the doorbell. Being alone was a part of Ravi's life, and he intended to keep it that way.
But...
Looking at the girl from a different perspective, she really wasn't cut out for the whole solo deal. Ravi would bet his week's meals (if he actually got any) that she wouldn't last a day in some creepy place - like the woods he'd just exited. Ravi's inner informer was ringing bells and waving red flags all over his head (What if she's an evil spy for the martians?! I'll just say I told you so!), but his conscious won out.
"I s'pose you can tag along," Ravi grumbled, fighting the grin that threatened to crack his face in half. "Just don't slow me down, okay?" Ravi had a reputation to keep, after all. He couldn't just start stop being obnoxious to random fillies with pretty butterfly wings, could he?

Nalani's head shot up, "Really?! Omg, thank you!" She ran to up and nuzzled him. "I promise not to slow you down or get in your way or...or..," the filly stopped talking and realized how annoying she was sounding.
"Oh...," she grinned cutely, "And I'll make sure not to be annoying." Nalani swung her tail excitedly and giggled. She didn't have to be afraid of being alone anymore. This nice colt hadn't rejected her, so she was going to make sure she helped him in any way possible.
"So, what are we going to now?" Nalani wondered if he would like to explore with her since she was new and didn't know the area.

Ravi's body had screeched "COOOTIIIES!!!" at him when the filly planted her nose on his fur, but he willed it down with the argument that she had called him cool, therefore she was cool. Not as cool as he was, of course, but cool enough.
Ravi grinned back, having missed another kid's childish antics and remembering how amusing they were, and announced, "We're gonna go find something to eat." His stomach rumbled in agreement; Ravi's meal of six wild black raspberries (that's all there was left on the bush) the other day hadn't been, needless to say, very satisfactory. He stuck his nose to the ground, snuffling, before realizing that he didn't know the first thing about tracking food.
.. Dang. If Ravi raised his head now without having a plausible explanation, he'd lose his cool status and probably never regain it. Then lie, doofus, his mind supplied, and Ravi did so.
"There's something that way," Ravi declared in a strong voice (his mind cheered), taking sure steps forward.
Man did he hope lucky guesses were right. His stomach was about to eat a hole in itself.

Nalani was full of joy, she finally made a friend. Her stomach growled when the colt spoke of food.
"Gee, I hadn't realized how hungry I was, I don't remember eating anything today."
The filly saw Ravi lower his head and sniff the ground. "Well that's weird," she thought, "I wonder what he's doing." The colt looked ahead and said there was something to eat over in the direction he was facing.
"Oh good, I'm starving." She joyfully pranced after her new found friend in search of food.
