Ok, since everybody likes to talk about movies and review them, I figured I'd get in the game too by checking out today's big release, the Longest Yard. For those of you who don't know, this is an update of the 1974 film by the same name, which I was a big fan of. Of course, being a Burt Reynolds fan as well and a football and wrestling fan, this movie seemed like a natural for me.
They didn't tinker with what made the old one work and the changes were minimal and subtle. They used the same recipe as before by going with former football stars like Brian Bosworth, Bill Romanowski, and Michael Irvin and sprinkled in some other pro atheletes, most notably pro wrestlers, Bill Goldberg, Steve Austin, Kevin Nash and NHB fighter Bob Sapp. The story really wasn't changed at all and those who have seen the original will find this version somewhat predictable. Despite that, it was fun for me seeing where and when the changes would occur. The story in the first one struck me as more... complete, but the humor in this one matched the first, and in some instances exceeded it. You haven't seen funny until you've seen a big bruiser like Kevin Nash on estrogen.
Adam Sandler took them helm as Paul Crewe, and Chris Rock played Caretaker. I found it somewhat surprising, and fitting that Burt Reynolds took the role of Nate Scarborough, and those of you who have seen the original will have fun picking out other familiar faces from the original who made appearances. If you like sports comedies, go see this film, it won't let you down.

I heart Madagascar. It's not as good as some of the othe computer animated movies like Incredibles or Finding Nemo but it is still a really fun movie.
