It's late and I wanted to make a thread. I've been bouncing the idea for this thread around for a few days, and have finally decided to just post it What ritual tools do you use? How do you prepare them if at all? (construction, consecration - whatever you draw from "prepare") Why do you use them, and do what you do with whatever tools you have? Also - what do you consider "ritual tools"? Do your divinatory tools count? (Etc)
I haven't begun to use ritual tools yet (I'm planning on starting this soon, actually), but I do have other things I use that I wouldn't consider "ritual tools", namely being my oracle deck.
So, because I have only questions and not much to divulge, I humbly ask for responses. Note: I am not asking for information that you feel is too personal to share - only share what you are comfortable with sharing.

Good topic. 3nodding
The only things that I count as ritual tools are the things that I ( would) use during ritual. My tarot deck isn't included in that.
I've only ever done one ritual, because I'm skittish and nervous like that. xP Last thing I want to do is piss off some diety who has the power to ruin my (or my family's) life with nothing more than a flick of the wrist.
So anywho- the ritual I did was one that I had gotten offline for Ostara. It called for hardboiled eggs decorated with lots of color, milk, and an athame, if I remember correctly. I added in a bunch of candles and I put three jingle bells on each of the four corners' candle holder. (I'm fanatical about jingle bells because they keep away negativity everytime the jingle. I keep a big one on my keychain). I also used one candle I think for the god and the goddess.
I didn't have an athame, but my mom has a dagger that she let me use. I felt like that was okay because my mom respects her knives and she treats them almost as if they were holy items. It wasn't just some knife from the kitchen, yanno?
I think that divinatory tools (such as oil and water or smoke and fire) only count as ritual tools if the ritual is centered on them.
And that's my own two cents. 3nodding xP

My family has lots of candles that we use for rituals. We have done the same ritual for Yule for the past 8 years. I know we have one candle for the goddes, one for the god, one for the sun, and then a bunch of tea lights. I have some rocks that I use for my personal rituals, and some water that I keep in a bottle so that it doesn't spill. The water is from all over the US. I do not have an atheme. I guess I prepare the tools by focusing on puting positive energy into them.

i use the peyton, wand, athame, chalice and representations of the gods.
the peyton is a massive pentacle like three inches accross
the wand is a piece of drift wood that i strapped a crystal too
the athame was a metal leaf i flattened to a blade then crimped into nother pipe and wrapped the handle with black cord and copper
the chalice i just bought from dollarama
i made a little god and goddess out of soldering wire and a blessed them all with holy water and blessed oils

I have tools that I've had for years for big rites. If I'm out in the forest and I want to set up a circle for meditation or some energy work, I use my hands as my tools. Candles can be lit and snuffed in the etheral. I use a lot of visualition.
